330 ml. bottle. Dark brown colour, like if it was oak aged. Nicd dark thick foam that that does't hold much, no lace. Sell is earthy, roasted, spices, chocolate, dark fruits but also apricot, toffee. Maybe a bit light body and not much carbonation, taste of licorice, roasted, dark fruits, I think I detect a hint of tobacco. Chocolate and caramel too. Very good.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a dark mahogany brown with a fine, half finger light brown head with good retention and lacing. Nice aroma of dark bready malt, dark dried fruit, molasses and a hint of soy sauce. Flavor follows, complex integrated molasses, bready malt, dark dried fruit and hints of chocolate. Flavor is somewhat subdued compared to the aroma, but in the moderate flavor, there is a lot going on. Nice creamy medium body. Probably the darkest malt doppelbock I've encountered and although the flavor is not intense, it still feels rich and satisfying. Very nicely done.

500ml. Dark rusty brown pour, cream colored head. Retained pretty well.

Aroma, caramel, butterscotch and some lift red fruit, though there is nothing light about the aroma.

Taste, liquid caramel, but there is a nice earthy note to it. Gets breadier as it warms. A faint herbal bitterness. Fades to a slight molasses and cocoa. Finish is more tea and tobacco like.

Medium body, quite a creamy carbonation. Drinks Extreamely easy.
Belongs among the top of the German representations of the style.

A: like a very dark cola with almost a finger head, remarkably slow rising carbonation.
S: nutbuttery malt, soy nuts, soy sauce. interesting and different.spicy corn nuts
And a side note, very loud carbonation! sounds almost like rice krispies but lower in pitch
T: woah. smokey malt, fairly thick and somewhat heavy. a fairly unique flavor. porter like.
M: in the direction of a nitro beer. thick creamy and a hair chunky like a milkshake.
O: interesting, pretty good in the porter direction. one of the better dark german beers

A very nice doppelbock right mhere

Dark brown and ruby pour, looks rich. Nice barely off white head, foamy and thick. Some rocks.

The aroma has the usual; prune, plum, sugared candy, leather and apple. Some roastiness and bread. Yet none of those are overpowering and "too much". Just about right

The flavor is less sweet than most doppelbocks I've had. Most others seem like a Jolly Rancher candy, but this isn't quite that concentrated. Leather and plum wrap around the roasted bread center. Some red apple here and there, too.

A very drinkable doppelbock. Soft and cleansing on the end. Perhaps a bit bready, but still not all that sweet, which is fine by me.

Poured a really dark chestnut brown colour. Head of creamy tan head that recedes slowly. Leaves quite a nice lacing. 500 mL bottle with freshness date.

Smell is suggestive of a rich dark maltiness, apple aromes, dark caramel. A lot of roastiness, leather, slightly boozy, but really intricate and rich. Grapefruit, and a vinegarry prickle.

Taste is thick, a caramelly boozy dark maltiness, leather, grapefruit with plums and dark fruits. Bitterness is light, but there is a ton of fruitiness and a touch of bitter chocolate towards the finish. Some mild almond nuttiness, with a nice pervasive roasty malt body, really rich. Finish has some sour apple, toast malt, sticky caramel with a bit of rummy sweetness.

Mouthfeel is quite full bodied but not overpowering, nice soft carbonation. Toasty dryness on the finish. Quite pleasant and drinkable. Not too alcoholic, and goes down quite satisfying.

A nicely interesting doppelbock. Not too malt heavy in that there are an interesting array of boozy fruit and roasted notes. It is interesting and not too heavy. It is quite rich, and maybe could improve by a bit more balance all the things going on here. Comes across as a bit boozy, which is probably my main issue, but it still drinks very nicely and is worth a try.

Appearance: Thin, brilliant layer of tan foam on top of molasses-thick beer. The thing is, the foam is really heavy, but really thin, which is quite cool. Color is about the same as well. Excellent lacing.

Smell: Yeasty sourdough bread. Plums and raisins. Molasses and caramel are evident too.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Toasted marshallows and chocolate. Some strong coffee in the finish. S'more-like. Feels a bit flat compared to smell and flavor. Full-bodied.

Overall Drinkability: The best doppelbock I've had.

The beer poured from a bottle this beer pours a molasses like colored brown. It has a decent half inch head at first but it quickly shrinks to jost a bit on the top of the beer. There seems to be little carbonation making me wonder how old my bottle is.

S - Smells of raisins and roasted malt

T - Sweet raisin or prunish notes, very malty but not thick.

M - Pretty low carbonation, feels thinner than it looks when poured but not watery, just right.

O - Good flavor overall but I don't think I got the freshest bottle given the thin carbonation. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to others.
