I've been buying homebrew supplies from Jim & Mary (the owners) for nearly 2 years, since I started homebrewing. I drive nearly 45 miles to purchase my supplies here. Yes, I could order any of my ingredients over the internet, but it is so nice to have a few experts to discuss and problems or ways to improve. I've had the opportunity to sample Jim & Mary's brew during a beer fesitval in Peoria and I know without a doubt they know what they're doing.

They always willing to help out, answer questions and even do special orders when requested.

If you are in the area, I recommend supporting them with your business.

My buddy called ahead and the owner made sure he had everything on the recipe and set aside when we showed up. He was more than willing to chat and make suggestions. More than once our conversations would send him to the backroom to do searches or investigate style recipes.

I picked up a couple of things and was impressed by the selection of yeast and hops he had. I would have rated him higher had he any lambic yeasts. He also had stuff tucked in everywhere. so if you don't see it, it is still probably there. You just aren't finding it.

The books were pretty standard and he had a couple marked a buck or so below the stated price. If I was a beginning homebrewer, this place is a goldmine. Since I am a bit more advanced, it is still a great place, but not for really unusual stuff.

Stoped in here a while ago and was blown away. Its so strange to find a place like this in Galesburg but seeing how the town seems to be trending more and more towards the craft brew market this place certainly fills a growing nieche. The first thing I noticed about this place was just how much stuff there was besides brewing equipment. All kinds of different beer glasses and beer tshirts and beer signs lined the walls, this place is packed to the rafters with all things beer. The staff was more than friendly and very helpful and informed me of everything they had in stock (types of hops, pellets, cones, etc. etc.). There is something for everyone here. Brewing kits for beginniners line an entire wall in one section as well as equipment for even the most advanced home brewers. This place is a must see and a gem of a store, on of the best of its kind in the Midwest.

I feel fortunate to have this LHBS a mere 1&1/2 miles from my house. I am new to all grain brewing and have yet to aquire a mill, so its nice that they will mill it for you. They have a great selection of grains and hops and will special order for you if they don't have it. They are definitely a full service LHBS as they carry hardware for kegging as well as reconditioned corny kegs.

The only thing that is a downer is the lack of space in the store. They carry so much that it is kind of hard to get around without knocking into something. Both owners (husband and wife) are homebrewers and more than willing to offer helpful advice. They even host our monthly brew club meetings! If you live in the vicinity and brew your own, this is your place.
