This is a nice stout. Kind of a bit of a bite from hops, it seems. Mild roasted malty tone to it. An easy drinker, though I feel like it's a sipper and something to savor. I think the best thing is that it's consistent and the flavor profile doesn't buckle at all.

Growler from a friend from Little Rock.

A black pour with caramel hues and a caramel head.

Smells of roasted malts, then coffee, chocolate, and caramel. It has an oat-like aroma. Smooth on the tongue: roasty maltiness, espresso, and a dry chocolate finish.

A medium to medium-light body, making this very quaffable. Ideally, it could be thicker, but given the ABV, it's a pleasing feel.

I personally favor sweet stouts, but this one rides the line between a sweet start and a drier finish. Very enjoyable.

I am re-reviewing this beer based on a pint I had in September 2008. Still as good as ever.

Appearance: opaque ruby black, creamy tan head, good retention.

Aroma: Roasty, malty goodness.

Flavor: a balance of roast barley, espresso-like flavors and some chocolate notes. Some hops detected. Good balance of bitter/sweet

Mouthfeel: medium body, creamy nitro/co2.

Drinkability: closest thing to a "session" stout there is.

Easy to drink but has tons of American stout character. Somewhere between a sweet and a dry stout. one of my all-time favorites.

Tasted on-tap 04/17/07 at Vino's Pizza Pub and Brewery in Little Rock, AR.

Solid black in color with a nice creamy brown head. Nice robust roasted malt and espresso aromas and flavors. Nice creamy medium body with a nice dry espresso-like finish.

Very nice robust stout !

The beer arrived on the table opaque black with a frothy head which lasted darn near forever to coat the glass.

The aroma was slightly fruity with chocolate and roasted malts most prevalent and a slight caramel aroma.

The flavor was nicely malty with a good chocolate flavor and a nice coffee flavor.

The finish was dryu with lasting chocolate and coffee flavors that last long into the aftertaste. The body was medium light and appropriate for the style.

A nice beer with a nitro pour. Said to at one time be their biggest seller at Vino's.
