20oz pour into nonic pint on the firkin release day. Glad I caught this one!
A: Dark and hazy, with the inert carbonation slowly settling into a 1" head that lingers and slowly settles to persistent rim.
S: Roasty. Heavy espresso notes and dark roasted malts with cereal backdrop. Some cocoa smells.
T: Definitly coffee centric. The oak is lightly there, but it definitly emphasises the coffee and dark chocolate of the normal version. Agree that this veers lightly towards acrid, but is lifted by the creaminess and softness of the cask treatment.
M: It's medium bodied, as expected for a normal FES. Richer because of the conditioning, but nothing extraordinary. Very quaffable though with no negative aspects.
D: Excellent. This went down waaaay too easy and I enjoyed several.
I hope this becomes a more regular release as it was excellent and judging by the number of people enjoying it, well recieved.

Served at the pub in a 20 oz traditional American pint glass. Special firkin tapped at the pub. Review from rough notes.
A: Black with a very thin, tan head that disappeared quickly
S: Dark cocoa, coffee almost to the point of being a touch acrid, faint smokiness
T: Barrel aging really comes through on the taste. Woody flavors, deep dark chocolate. Creamy smooth taste. Lots of deep roasted malts, some bitterness on finish with lingering oak flavors.
M: Very lost carbonation, almost a touch flat. Little thin, but this is a standard (not imperial) stout. Really rich and creamy.
D: Very nice variation of their classic Tsunamic stout. Super easy drinking. Smooth, creamy and just a little rich. Very enjoyable.
