This was always a go-to place in college, at least during the spring, summer, and fall. It was a great change of pace from the other typical college bars. The outdoor beer garden was great you could have a big group of people and just hang out and play some bocce ball or cornhole. This place was also nice in that they were really strict on underage people. It was nice because it kept a lot of the annoying first-time-away-from-home students out. They also have an indoor basement for the winter months, but I was never a huge fan of that it was usually full of snotty people everytime i was there. Might have just been my experiences though.

A true college bar in many ways. very nice summer place to hang out. Outdoor patio and back area with bocci ball and cornhole. Reasonable beer selection with some tasty taps. I've heard the food is okay but I have yet to try. The service is pretty typical for a college bar. Can be really awful when its busy. The place is fairly miserable when its rainy or cold as there is no real inside. But in the summer its a great hangout with decent prices and good entertainment. Definitely a place I would go again

This isn't really a big beer destination. More of a college hang out but they will also have something worth while. I love hanging out here after Bearcat football games, especially while the weather is still nice as they have a nice biergarten type thing going on. Not a ton a choices on tap and almost all of them are macro or regular imports. They have always had a couple Christian Moerlein beers on, which is what I normally get. The service won't know much about beer but they're pretty damn fast at getting you a beer. Everything has been reasonably priced.

Great atmosphere here. This bar gives you all three feels. There is the high priced, jackets only style area in the dining room with an upscale bar. There is the basement Rathskeller with a nice lodge area and a solid adult bar. There is also the Bier Garten, which brings the large scale German party feel to this diverse bar experience.
The place stays clean and is well decorated. The facilities aren't new but are well kept. There are yard games to play outside as well as pub games inside.
The bartenders are quick and knowledgeable about bartending. Not particularly craft beer, but they tend bar like pros.
Our beer selection is very average. There are about 5-6 craft/import selections next to the decent BMC selection.
The food is good. Inside the dinning room you can get authentic German food which is a nice touch but it isn't spectacular. The prices are a bit expensive. $25-$30 plates and $3-$4 BMC pints.

I really loved stopping in here on my trip. Being fully German the outdoor biergarten was a very cool site to behold. I walked in there first and thought it was really nice and spacious. Nothing seemed crowded here, though it was a weekday with no game scheduled. The inside restaurant looked very nice and the menu was to die for, though a bit pricey but I guess you pay for that kinda of quality. The selection did not look overwhelming, and as others have pointed out mostly more popular German Imports and macros so nothing really spectacular. Overall this did not seem like a bad stop at all and I would definitely like to hang out here in the fall outdoors during a game as the crowd must be nice and the atmosphere pretty charged. I will have to put this place down in the book to visit on my next trip through town.

Great overall atmosphere. The best feature of this bar is that it's got an outdoor biergarten. Compared to other college type bars that are in the area this one is a bit toned down. It never seems overly packed, never shoulder to shoulder and is for the most part a "quieter college bar" the music isn't too loud and its a great place to hang when the weather is nice.
The service is average for the most part. The bartenders seem to know what beer you're talking about if you ask for it, though I doubt that they know anything about that beer-style, etc. Selection of beer on tap isn't all that spectacular, they've got Warsteiner Dunkel and Premium along with the standard of bud Guinness and Bass. The selection of bottled brews is somewhat decent, however if you're looking for a bottled American micro/craft brew you'll most likely not find it here. The majority of bottled beer is imported from Germany and other parts of Europe. The food is great but a bit high in price, but I guess that is a fairly decent trade off since the food is pretty damn authentic. Probably one of the nicest and least "college like" of all the bars around campus.

I love this place. I went to school at the University of Cincinnati (GO BEARCATS!) and this was the place to be when the weather was nice. The beirgarten is great. They have bocce ball in the back, and just a nice open air atmosphere. A great place to be in the early fall before and after bearcat games, or in the spring to just hang out! The beer selection is pretty good, and they generally have a few specials. If you are in Clifton, this is a great place to be. The restaurant part is very quiet, a little small, but they offer great german food. AUTHENTIC! Good value, good selection. Great hangout.
