Appearance: Arrives with a tawny color flashing crimson highlights; not much head and what there is quickly disappears ; likely due to the pour

Smell: Toasted brown bread and nuts with a hint of coffee

Taste: Toasted brown bread and nuts, up front, with a developing lager twang taking over the middle; after the swallow, there is a hint of coffee that lingers in the finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with gentle carbonation

Overall: Surly has done a good job with a style that is mostly ignored on these shores.
