In all my visits to the Boulder area I had never been to Boulder Beer. I realized I had missed nothing. What a completely lame selection of beers on-tap. Nothing out of the ordinary at all.
We had just eaten at Oskar Blues in Longmont so we didn’t try the food. And frankly the beer selection was so boring we just had one each and left.
The bar/eating area is fairly small… there is a patio for the warmer months. I felt like it didn’t feel like a eatery or a bar… the “brewery” was too present. It was like the brewery tour launch point-bar-restaurant-gift shop was all crammed into once space… maybe because it was.
I have nothing else to add. It was almost pointless for us to stop.

As a Boulder resident, I sure wish this place was better because I
would stop in a lot more often. Bottom line is: if you're from out of
town, it is worth stopping in just to buy some of their swag. One
thing that Boulder Beer has is great art work for their labels which
you can get on every type of apparel at this pub.
If you're local, maybe come in to see if they have Obovoid on tap (winter months).
The wait staff is a little slow and the bartender does not seem to care about the tables i.e. even though he is the first one to see
you, he doesn't communicate that to any of the waitresses.
They don't do tasters right: too small for the price.
Among locals, I have not heard anyone say much good about
the place. There are several other places where you can spend
your time and get better beer and service.
They do have a good summer festival if you're around for that.

love this place. cool atmosphere, especially when its nice enough to sit outside. small operation and taproom, good feel to it. really friendly staff that was happy to do a private tour for me. lots of nice beers on tap, and usually a cask offering, all at reasonable prices. food at lunchtime was excellent and prices were plenty fair. in fact, after my tour i was given about half a pitcher of each beer they had going, which needless to say was enough to get wasted and then some. all of that was free. an all around good time

Went here twice. What they do have going for them is they have very talented musical guests. Besides that, the food is medocre, the beer is pedestrian, the bartenders and servers can be stuck up, and the selection is weak. For what they serve you, it is too expensive. I hate, really hate to slam a place like this but they are in the middle of a very strong and respected beer community yet they represent with the city's very name and weak tasting brewery. They also have a beer representing CU, of which I recently graduated, called Buff Gold, which tastes like a BMC beer. I just wish it could find a way to redeem itself, lest unsuspecting tourists keep visiting this place.

I went to Boulder a beer once and was extremely excited. This was my first trip to a brewery and I had been living in Boulder for 4 years. We got to the brewery and sat down, we were the only ones there. Not only was the service slow but it seemed as if the bartender would rather be doing anything else with his time than serving us. He charged us $2 for little tasters and was just overall incredibly rude. I haven't been back since mostly because their beer is nothing special and they aren't very nice there. I hope that my experience was an isolated incident but from what I have heard from other friends who have visited there we would all just rather drive the 2 miles to Avery.

It had been a solid 15 years since I was last here. Now I work five minutes away, so I had to stop by.
Wilderness is fairly small inside. When you walk through the door, there are maybe 10 tables. The bar is at the back and holds a little over a dozen people. Outside is a fairly large patio.
Food here is typical pub fair and is served in large quantities. Nothing really stands out, but the tortilla soup was pretty solid. Food prices are a bit high, but the beer prices are reasonable. Boulder's usual lineup of year-round beers are on-tap, plus a couple of brewmaster's specials and the occasional cask offering.
Service varies. The wait staff is nice and friendly, but the bartenders seem focused on the "regulars" and no one else. When I sat there, I was pretty much ignored, unless my beer was empty.
Overall, I like Wilderness. I just have to remember to ask for a table.

This was stop 1 on my beercation. Boulder beer co. makes decent beer. I wouldn't turn one down if someone gave me one. The only vibe I got from boulder beer co was that they wanted to make money. My beer tender couldn't tell me how big their brew house was, couldn't tell me was style of beer he was serving me, and only responded in short generic pre-generated answers. I understand everyone has bad days but this was a bit too much. I went in with average expectations and came out shocked and dissappointed. The beer was not in style specific glassware and the lighting was awful. When I am in town again, I will surely skip over boulder beer co.

Stopped here with my friend from Denver. Cool to visit one of the originals, and the place had a good feel but not great. Beers were standard issue that day, except I never had a chance before to try their barleywine. Service was attentive but not intuitive. I wouldn't say this place was average because it did have did excel in decor, the barleywine, and service but I think if I wanted to go to another brewery, I would rather explore a new one than go to this one again.... it was more of a brewpub and not an experience.

went there for lunch on christmas eve...arrived to some free gifts, an opener, an "i got hazed" sticker, and a hazed and infused can ornament...sat down to a nice menu and a friendly waiter...i ordered the mojo infused bbq pork burger with fries and the suggested pairing IPA...sister ordered the buffalo burger...all were great...manager brought his dog in to play with our niece and nephew and after lunch he brought them otter pops...we stayed for the brewery tour with the head brewer which was very cool...quite a setup in there! afterwards they bought everyone a pint. had a nitro tap of their seasonal oatmeal stout which was fantastic...took a mixed 6 pack home and 3 bombers of seasonals...great experience...they also have a great memorabilia selection! great christmas eve!

A. I have been here several times, and have enjoyed every visit. It is not like many other breweries in that it not a renovated old building. This place is new and clean but still has the comfortable feeling that a lot of older buildings have.
Q. As usual, everything I had was delicious.
S. We arrived shortly before they were scheduled to open, but there were customers inside and the door was open so we went in early. As it turns out, the customers inside were part of a pre-arranged bus tour, but the staff let us stay anyway. We would have been glad to go back outside and wait until they officially opened, but they wouldn't have it.
S. They always have their normal beers on tap, and usually have different variations and seasonals as well. The one I had on this visit was a Toasted Oak India Brown Ale (Flashback) on cask.
F. The food was excellent as well. I have never had anything but from them.
