On tap at Old Chicago, I'm always interested in wet hopped beers and had never heard of this so it was an easy choice. Amber color, decent head. Looks like single track. Aroma is slightly hoppy, not bad flavor was nice, wet hop oils, a touch of butter caramel. I liked this and I'd order this again if I saw it.

I had this on draft yesterday at the Boulder Beer Tap House inside Denver International Airport.

Appearance: Orange color. The beer poured a one finger head with some very nice lacing. Clarity is good with lots of tiny bubbles.

Smell: very light citrus and piney notes. All followed by sweet and bready malts.

Taste: Same as above with some spiciness and biscuit too. Very subtle flavors and enjoyable.

Mouthfeel: smooth, a little chewy, medium bodied, and medium carbonation.

Overall: this was a decent wet hopped ale. Looking for more out of the hops, but the wet hops were still nice.

I had this beer on tap at U Pick 6 in Erie PA.

A: Slightly Hazy Amber/Golden Straw Hue, Mild Head, Decent Lacing

S: Light Floral, Bready

T: Floral Hops, Mild Piney, Bready

M: Okay Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Dry, Mildly Bitter, Crisp

Overall, for a wet hopped amber, it didnt release much of the hoppy flavor like I would expect but still a nice ale that is drinkable.

on tap at hawthornes in philly

Pours a slightly hazed amber color with some lighter golden hues. Tuft of white head rests on top throughout most of the pour, leaving patches and rings of lacing on the glass.

Soft herbal hop bitterness in the nose with a touch of pine. Hint of orange peel with a nice maltiness with bread crust. Faint caramel sweetness too.

Balanced bitterness up front with pine and a light touch of citrus. Bready and caramel malt backbone with some residual sweetness. Few hints of orange peel and fruit sweetness as well. Decent balance between the hop and malt flavors. Finishes a little dry and bitter, but still pretty crisp.

Medium body, decent carbonation, crisp and pretty refreshing. I like the fresh hop take on the amber ale, the malt and hop balance was pretty decent. I'd probably drink this again if I ran into it somewhere.

Boulder Freshtracks Wet Hopped Ale

Pours a clear orange color, soapy head and a solid amount of lace. Light aroma of caramel and floral hop notes. In the taste, mild orangey citrus, small bitterness, clean toffee-like maltyness and an even balance. Hops could stand to be more intense or at least noticeable. Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied, and fairly smooth with delicate carbonation. Overall, a pretty decent ale, but kind of bland.

On tap at the Black Sparrow. I had no idea it was so rare...

Anyhow, it was described as a wet-hopped session so of course I had to try it. It poured like an APA and its aroma was much fruitier than I was expecting. More west-coasty citrus nodes became present as the beer warmed, along with hints of pineapple.

Tastes like it smells--solidly balanced and hoppy, but without the (usually pleasantly) harsh alpha acid intensity that the phrase "wet-hopped" made me anticipate.

On-tap at Boulder Beer Tap House at the Denver Airport

A: The pour is amber in color with a thin white head.

S: A very nice fruit aroma to this one. Citrus hop notes (grapefruit and orange) and a strong pineapple smell to it as well. A little bit of sweet malt to go with it.

T: Not quite as hoppy on the palate. Lots of citrus still, though. A bit of floral hops and a bit more in terms of pine bitterness. A bready malt sweetness with a bit of toasted malt.

M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation.

O: A beer that was actually worth drinking. Finally.

Burnished copper clad in a light haze. Fluffy white head leaves moderate lace.

Aroma of earthy and citrus fresh hops upfront with light caramel and toasted bread.

Flavor much like Singletrack with a kicked up hop presence. Smooth toasted malt, bread, and biscuit malt flavors with earthy, citrus and light herbal hops.

Lighter side of medium bodied with good carbonation and a slight astringency from the fresh hops. Solid session beer.

On cask at the brewery's Wilderness Pub. Served in a shaker pint glass.

Freshtracks arrived with a dense off-white head, a pale copper hue and a light haze. Head retention is exemplary and a good bit of lace is left behind.

The nose has a mild dose of lemon and grapefruit, plus some toasted grain. In the mouth, the citrus takes a back seat to toasted sweetbread and cracker-like malts. Bitterness is mild, but perfectly balanced. The beer's light mouthfeel is silky smooth. The finish carries a bit of lingering toasted grain and lemon.

Overall, I loved this on cask. It struck me as a really nice English Bitter. Hopefully this beer will be back again.
