A - near black with a solid finger of mocha colored head, decent retention fantastic lacing.
S - lots of sweet dark fruits (cherry and raisin), oaty, sweet caramel, slight roasted coffee.
T - mildly bitter chocolate, sweet dark fruits, oatmeal, transitions into a slight bitter/easy burn. Sweet mouth watering aftertaste
M - decently carbonated, light bodied but still rather smooth. Very drinkable
O - pretty good, great drinkability however the dark fruits are a little too dominant and there seems to be a bit of an artificial sugary flavor for sure

Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance – Pours a nearly pitch black color with a one finger light tan head. The head fades relatively quickly leaving a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The nose is pretty sweet smelling with lots of sweet oatmeal and caramel. Mixed with these are aromas of dark roasted malt and a moderate amount of a coffee smell. Small amounts of vanilla work their way to the nose which when mixed with the rest creates an sweet oaty and roasty smell overall.
Taste –The taste begins with a dark roasted malt, a chocolate, and very oaty flavor mixed with a bit of caramel and vanilla sweetness upfront. As the flavor moves forward a chocolate flavor gets stronger and some notes of an oaky nature come to the tongue while the sweeter flavors of caramel begin losing ground. A coffee flavor develops more toward the middle of the taste growing rather strong more toward the end. With the sweeter flavors fading and the coffee having a more burnt characteristic, a moderately bitter and roasted flavor is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-The body of the brew is on the medium to slightly lower side for a imperial of 8 % with a carbonation that is a little high for the style. Not the most complimenting for the flavors of the beer as it downplayed the nice roasty and oaty flavor of the brew.
Overall – A pretty decent brew but not the greatest imperial out there. It begins very nice with lots of oaty and roasted flavors, but then gets a little too bitter more toward the end with the feel never really quite fitting the style. Worth a try, but not the best.

Served on draft at Sam's in Durham, NC.
Pours a black color with a small dark brown head. Has the look of a typical RIS.
Smell - mild roasted malts, not much else.
Taste is fairly mild chocolate and oak. roasted malts. Tastes like an oatmeal stout. nothing at all like a RIS.
Feel - fairly thick, not overly so. I had no problem finishing a pint.
Overall a decent oatmeal stout. Not sure why this is classified as a RIS because it isn't one. The ABV is also wrong, it's only 6.8%. Not sure if the bottle version is different than the draft version? Or they may have changed it and stopped bottling it entirely, as their website says this is a draft only beer.

A - black with a thick, brown head that has good retention
S - simple roasted malts, maybe some oak
T - roasted malts, chocolate, woody, creamy, some alcohol
M - medium bodied, smooth, warm, well carbonated
This is a nice beer. I don't get as much oak as I would like, but it's there. The general stout seems like it would be great even without the oak-aging. This was a nice beer to sip on while I was cooking dinner for some friends. This is definitely worth a try.

Poured into a balloon glass.
Look: Dark chocolate in color. Oatmeal flake colored head with good lacing of random patches.
Aroma: Less oak barrel, but more lactose sweetness. Roasted malts, vanilla.
Taste: Immediately I get a bitterness and somewhat of a bitter chocolate note. An almost wine-like sharpness gives way to a sweeter body, hints of vanilla. Faint oats and coffee.
Mouthfeel: Nice weight to it, semi-dry.
Overall: Not as smokey and/or woody as I expected. Not bad, once.

22 oz Bottle, 51 degrees, poured into goblet. Dated "enjoy by 2/11/14."
A: Nice, dark, with a tannish head. quickly dissipates, but lacing stays for the duration....
S: coffee, chocolate. smokey oak.
T: Chocolate, coffee, oak, lighter than is looks.
M: nice carbonation, light in the palate, bitter chocolate finish.
O: Not bad, glad I tried one. No room in cellar to add one for later, but may age well, deepening in flavor...
