Best Beer I have ever had, and it comes with a healthy kick too! I want MORE!! It is a spring beer that only comes around once a year, but I anticipate having this beer and beg my supplier to have it in stock for me. From the great, clean taste to the appearance and feel of this beer, it gets consistent high marks from me.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, best before 1/25/2013. Pours very hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big lemon, banana, clove, wheat, pear, pepper, light bubblegum, earth, grass, floral, and yeast spiciness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance. Taste of lemon, wheat, banana, clove, floral, grass, orange zest, earth, coriander, light bubblegum, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of lemon, banana, wheat clove, light pepper, earth, grass, floral, light bubblegum, and coriander. Nice balance and complexity of flavors; a bit more watered down than I expected; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with nearly zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice wheat ale. Nice amount of hefeweizen flavor complexity and balance; and extremely smooth to drink. Definitely an enjoyable offering.

This beer recently took 1st place in the American Wheat category at a Brew fest in Rhode Island. Widmer Bros hefe came in second. Widmer Bros. hefe is my everyday favorite brew. So I had to give Sweaty Betty a try.... Not available in Utah I brought some home from a recent trip to AZ. This is a nice American Wheat. It has a hint of banana and clove, but not like a Bavarian style-hefe. It is more in the American wheat camp....smooth and not too spicy. It' s well worth a try if you like American wheats like Widmer, Pyramid, etc... If you're looking for a Bavarian style like Keller Weiss or any of the German wheats then it may not be spicy enough. If you're looking for a smooth American wheat with a just a hint of spice that goes down nice, then Sweaty Betty is a good choice. If it were available locally, I'd drink it regularly.
It also has a higher ABV at nearly 6 percent, but without the heavier spirit taste. You'd never know it from the taste. It goes down like a 4.8, so beware...it's smooth and w/. The higher alcohol content could pack a punch....

Poured from bottle into pint glass at buffalo wild wings in Hammond, LA. Aside from the typical Abita brew on tap, this was the extent of the craft beer selection - and this is one of two left in the cooler.
Pours a golden color with no head...it looks like the miller lite currently being consumed by the guy next to me. Very faint citrus fruity banana aroma, but mostly malt. Taste again is slight fruity malt with a hint of noble hops. Slight wheaty taste and feel. Some slight banana ish flavors. Its an ok brew, but I would never choose this over anything else...sad this is the only micro here...
I won't get again.

Pours a clear, golden body with a small, though dense, white head.

Aromas of soft white wheat and lemon citrus with a slight underlying note of yeast.

The tastes begins with pale, wheat malts with a tiny pop of sugared sweetness. As it warms you get some lemon-flavored candy and very minor, spicy hops and bitterness. Sip of cool, clean water.

The mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Hints of doughy yeast with a light wheaty finish.

Overall this is just a thin bodied, slightly sweet, something wheaty beer, with few high points, even on a warm day.

Pours golden "blonde" into a pint glass with a frothy head that stays almost completely still as I drink it.

Smell is extremely pleasant. Banana first comes to mind with a slight hint of citrus. One of the best smelling wheat's I've come across.

Taste is very similar to smell. A hint of banana up front with hoppy and lemon notes. Little bit of a clove aftertaste for me. I love this stuff.

Mouthfeel is light but still passes my test. Great for drinking several of them at a time, you'll just keep going back for more.

Overall I can say this is definitely one of my favorite beers to date. I am a huge fan of wheat beers, though. For someone looking for an incredible amount of flavor you might want something else, but for an easy drinking and delicious beer you can't beat one of these. I'd love to try it on tap at some point.

Appearance - Pours a hazy pale yellow with a fizzy white finger width head. Poor retention, resulting in a poor, spotty lace.

Smell - Smells faintly of mellow banana and some grassy, floral hops.

Taste - Weak notes of banana and a grassy hop... saved by decent amount of clove spice. Finishes with that spice and a bit of coriander.

Mouthfeel - Watery body, with a near dead carbonation.

Overall - My buddy recommended this beer, and I think maybe he was playing an evil trick on me. Terribly weak from nearly every possible angle, this is not a wheat beer that I'd care to try again.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance –Pours a lightly hazed golden color with a one finger head. The head fades slowly over time to give a fair amount of lacing.

Smell – The aroma was heaviest of bread with lighter notes of caramel and some yeast. Mixed with this was a very light lemon citrus hop aromas as well as some banana.

Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter malt taste with strong caramel and wheat tastes. As the flavor advances the sweetness fades slightly with notes of a lemon hop flavor coming to the tongue. This takes the taste to the end were it mixes with yeast and banana flavors to leave a satisfying flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeeel – The brew was on the average side in body with a medium level of carbonation. Both are fitting for the flavors but nothing spectacular.

Overall –Very easy drinking, but a little subtle and boring for the most part.

Sweaty Betty from Boulder Beer Company pours a hazy, pale yellow and is capped by a big frothy white head that leaves a good deal of lacing. Aromas of wheat, banana, yeast, lemon, and spice create a rich, and wonderful bouquet. The banana and wheat standout on the pallet, with the malt providing initial sweetness and eventually a slight breadiness, hints of pepper and citrus lurk out as well, very flavorful. Medium-light in body, this refreshing brew is low to moderate in carbonation. Refreshing on a hot summer evening!

Cheers!

Poured into a standard pint glass. The beer is a hazy light straw color. It looks watery. The fizzy white head settles to a film of bubbles and there is decent lacing. The beers smells ... sweet and floral, but there's something in the aroma I can't pinpoint. Something metallic and tangy. The beer follows the general pattern for wheats, with it's grainy, grassy backbone, but there's something metallic and weird in this beer. The mouthfeel is light bodied, but highly carbonated.

Overall, I just didn't like this beer, period. Everything from it's appearance to taste had something about it i didn't like. I also don't like the 5.9% for a wheat beer, seems a bit high. However I don't regret trying it and I'll finish the sixer. Just not again.

A: Lemon cream yellow with a sudsy, thick, and foamy head; decent retention and decent lacing

S: Grainy and grassy with lemon citrus and even a touch of banana and spice; this smells mostly like an American wheat but there's a touch of a German hefeweizen in there as well

T: Lemon zest up front followed by grassy grains and just a touch of banana and cloves; this is a simple yet refreshing and tasty beer--perfect for mowing the lawn, which is exactly how it came in handy just now

F: Medium body and fairly sticky which works okay

O: This is a nice little beer and like I said perfect for what it is: an easy drinking and refreshing summer beer; I think Boulder did a nice job with this one and when I want something like this again, I will return

A- Pours a slightly hazy straw with a finger of bubbly white head that dissipates and leaves some light lacing

S- Floral yeast and some light citrus, banana

T- Floral notes and yeast at the beginning, quickly changes to a nice wheat breadiness and some very light hop, banana tones to finish

M- Light carbonation and body, smooth, fits the style

O- Has some good qualities for a wheat: light, floral, refreshing. Although not a style I usually go for, this one is good

A - Kinda murky goldish-yellow, with a quickly dissipating thin head. Very little lacing to speak of, but the color is pretty nice.

S - Oddly, smells alot like bananas. Banana Nut Bread to be exact, with some slight citrus overtones. Very interesting to say the least.

T - Not bad for a wheat ale. Has a hint of banana, with some rich wheatiness and a little citrus on the finish. Has a very pleasant banana nut bread aftertaste.

M - Some carbonation, but overall it has a fairly pleasant feel to it. Not too light, not too heavy, right where it should be.

O - Not bad for a wheat ale, as you may know already I haven't had many, but this one isn't bad for what it is. A pleasant little beer with a good unique character. Works for me!

Bottle into a chalice

date says best before july 4th.

a. A light lemony yellow bottom and a musty yellow kind of golden color top. poured gently with a bit of head that lingers.

s. You smell a bit of wheat malts and a tad bit of a banana.

t. a bit of wheat malts tamed by a tiny bit of a lemon flavor and a hint of banana in it. It taste like a pale lager mix with a wheat beer.

M. Its the best bit. Its really kind of yeasty creamy, and smooth. Pretty refreshing but i guess thats the only redeeming quality.

O. It is a refreshing beer, but if you are looking for something with a little flavor or complexity, you've been barking up the wrong tree.

This one pours a cloudy golden blonde with a very thick frothy head that settles very slowly leaving a luxurious lacing down the sides of the glass.

The nose if very pleasant like fresh bread, lemon and citrus notes with a very floral blend of flowers and hops. The nose is sweet.

The taste is very satisfying with a hint of a Saison farmhouse ale from Belgium in the Flemish region. The taste is very satisfying with subtle hops and lemony flavors that match the nose. The beer is not dry with a leaning towards fruity, but not too sweet. This one is very satisfying and nicely balanced. The hops make their presence known as you finish your swallow with the sweet giving way to a very pleasant bitter. This is a very nicely balanced beer and I really like it.

The mouthfeel is satisfying, though a tad bit watery for how good this beer taste. But it is not detracting from me enjoying it at all.

Overall this one is an excellent beer and I would love to buy it again.

3.5 A: Hazed golden yellow color. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is average and a good sized ring of lacing is left.

12 oz bottle from a mix pack. Its been a very long time since I've had a wheat beer, been kinda craving one, this should be interesting.

A: Lemonade color, almost white, very cloudy, minimal head, no real lacing, could be due to non pristine glassware.

S: Theres that wheaty yeast I've been missing, very sweet with some banana in there. Also has a sweaty/barnyard laundry smell, must be why they call it sweaty b

T: Wheaty/yeasty up front, lot of non-sour lemon (i.e. fake lemon), quite sweet.

M: Low carbonation but for the style seems a bit heavy/rich in body. Alcohol not dominating, not as sessionable as many of this style though.

O: I'm not crazy about the style but this is one of the better offering for the style. These types often taste "cheap" this one doesnt. That said I wont seek it out.

Pours very pale yellow with a bit of haze and a big white head. No retention, no lace.

Bubblegum/banana/yeast/clove notes. Some nutty wheat. THis works.

Not super strong in the flavor dept. Sweet wheat, some yeast, some grain and a little husk bitterness. Finishes with light bitter, carbonated water, and sweet wheat.

A little thin, but still ok.

A decent one, although flawed. The balance of flavor is there, just lacks strength/intensity of flavor.

A bright gold pour, 1/2" head, admirable the way it tried to stick around. A lemony aroma, but not much else to speak of.

Easy going taste, discernably wheat, mild flavors of banana and lemon, grass. Hopping is prolly around 30 ibu. Relatively balanced, mildly sweet, a little metallic bitterness creeps into the mouthfeel, what was once a small dallop of tartness gets progressively more aggressive as the metal exerts itself. Made me wonder if this was part of the weird pallet of boulder beer come into Reno recently.

Freshness date stamped on bottle neck... Thanks Boulder Beer! Poured into a pint glass.

Pours lemon-peel yellow with a billowy white snowy three fingers of head. For an APWA, the head lasts like a champ. This is a very light colored beer, and appears like it is going to showcase some nice crackery wheat-malt flavor.

Smells as expected, very light yeasty notes (without bite) and some pale grains. Good so far.

There is more yeast flavor than expected from the nose or from the style guidelines, but this isn't a bad thing. As I hoped there is some wheat flavor and it displays a bit of cracker. The yeast is nearly like a mild European style wheat ale, and it blurs the line between this style and that. Well done.

The mouthfeel is light and highly carbonated. The body seems to come as much from the carbonation as from the ingredients.

Conclusion: Fine work by Boulder Beer. This is a very light beer and I think it would work amazingly on cask in the summer, or out of a growler at least (less carbonation). For some reason I always had the impression that this wasn't a worthwhile beer, and I am happy to be corrected. Boulder Beer sticks mostly to mainstream styles, but they do them well.

Sweaty Betty is definitely a dishwater blonde...she's sorta weak altogether. Now look, if you do not like the traditional skunk of a heffe...then you may actually enjoy this. The appearance when poured was cloudy and not in a good way. The nose was a metallic skunk reminding me of fennel. The head was short-lived at best but it kicked up high initially like a wheat should. I expect a fruity experience from an American wheat....totally disappointed as were my Beer Geeks.
