Found a few singles lying around at my local grocery store, and figured I'd try one out. Pours an amber color with a nice amount of head. Smells malty and a bit bitter, and a little floral.

Taste is very malty, a little bitter, and has some caramel notes going on. A little fuller than the nose. And leaves very little to no aftertaste. The bitter hops really balance out any sweetness.

Mouthfeel is decent, and as for drinkability, well, one goes pretty quickly. I can see this as a nice thirst quencher on a hot day, or a decent beer to have with a burger and fries. Not an awful brew at all.

12 oz bottle just past the date by a couple of weeks (mostly my fault), so this may not be the best sample. Served in a tulip glass.

A - Amber and copper body, brilliant clarity, and the once large white head fades fast to leave a ring against the side..

S - Aroma is faint caramel malt goodness with a bubblegum fruitiness in the back. No real hop aroma noted.

T - Medium bitterness leads into a slightly sweet bread body. The bubblegum is still there and the fruit reminds me of green apple and pears. Maybe apricot is a better descriptor here. No citrus (ok), and the bite is fairly mild.

M - Medium to light bodied and a bot slick for my tastes. The carbonation is adequate but the feel is oily as it clears.

D - moderate to low. Only so much fruity bubblegum one man can stand.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a bright burnt orange. Head is minimal and unremarkable. Sweet nose of caramel malt and some hops. Sweet toffee taste with minimal bitterness in the finish. Grassy and earthy hops come through the more you drink the beer, but it's the malts that are the real star. If it had more hops going on, this thing could be astronomical. As it is, it's simply quite good. That's not a bad thing.

A - Decent appearance for a sessionable pale ale - large off white head, light copper appearance. No legs, little head retention.

S - Hops, wheat, corn, and dried caramel. Nice.

T - Light hops up front with a light malt background to finish. A little bit of alcohol heat as it warms up.

M - Perfect for a sessionable beer - real smooth with just the right amount of carbonation.

D - Just about as drinkable as it gets. A perfect summer session or BBQ beer.

12 fl oz bottle poured into my pint glass

The appearance is that of a pretty dark copper color with a nice sized two inch slightly off-white head. Great head retention that last above average and as it subsides leaves scattered spiderweb lacing clinging to the sides of my glass.

The aroma mainly consisted of malts and had barely any hop aroma. The malts consisted of caramel and pale malt, toffee notes, barley. I did get the slightest bit of some kind of noble hop(?).

Taste upfront and throughout the beer is all malt. I get upfront sweet taste of caramel that leads way into a toffee flavor. Thats about it folks.

Mouthfeel is thin and watery with slightly above medium carbonation

Really disappointed with this beer and even though it might just be old, I still wish I had at least sop hop flavor in it. I would pass this up. Pretty much the flavor profile for this beer could pass for a "Czech Pilsner" rather than a "Pale Ale"

Pours a light brown, slightly amber body with an off white head that has zero retention. The smell is decent. Some apricot with some sweeter malts, but not a lot of hops like I like from my APAs.

Extremely light beer. Not a lot of flavor at all. Watered down apricot with a hint of hops and no alcohol content whatsoever. A weird, woody, earthy taste that doesn't mix well with the sweeter malts (I'm thinking brown sugar) that dominate the beer. Not so great.

The mouthfeel is light, as previously mentioned. Decently carbonated though. The drinkability is just fine for a light PA.

Pours a light amber color with a clear body and visible carbonation. Slight piney hop aroma. Smooth light body with nice carbonation levels. Earthy hop bitterness flavor well balanced with supporting malt flavors. Finishes with a subtle piney hop flavor.

Great looking, great smelling, fantastic taste. Sweeter than most pale ales and slightly less tolerable because of that, but definitely one of the most smooth and drinkable pale ales I've ever had. Great beer to introduce to a non-beer snob. Best average pale ale I've had in a long while.

June 29 09 stamped on bottle.

It pours a clear bright gold with a 1 finger head of foam. There's some decent lacing.

Smell wise, I'm getting some good hoppy notes, mostly on the lemonish side, and some notes of bread. A pretty good nose over all.

The taste isn't like the nose at all. The hops didn't make the trip at all, ok, just a bit of some lemon bitterness but it's so light, I could easily have missed it. The bready malt does come through but I'd rather that it had not. I'd prefer some nice caramel malt sweetness and a much more assertive hop presence, given it is an American Pale Ale, but this falls way short. A very dull brew.

Medium bodied with good carbonation...no complaints on the mouthfeel.

Drinkability? It goes down easy enough, due in part to the mouthfeel, but this isn't something I'd enjoy drinking multiple bottles of at a sitting. I find it way too ordinary.

Pass Time Pale Ale achieves a balance of malt and hop flavors that I think is very good. It pours with little head, and a little lacing. This beer is surprisingly dark for a pale ale, and I would almost call it and amber if not for the title. Fruity and nicely textured hops characterized the mouthfeel and initial taste, followed by a toasted nut and malty aftertaste. In my opinion, neither the hops nor the malts are out of proportion. It is not over acidic or sweet. This is not the best APA out there, but it is a very good one.

A - dark golden appearance with a small head

S - sweet caramel malts with some citrus and grassy hops

T - taste follows the nose. Sweet malts are slightly balanced by some grassy hops. There are also hints of citrus.

M - full and smooth

D - this is a pretty decent pale ale. Kind of sweet, not a whole lot of complexity, but this is decently sessionable.

Bottle states this beer contains no more than 4% ABV.

Appearance - clear yellow with a thin head.

Smell - more malt than anything. I don't smell any hops from this APA.

Taste - not your typical APA but very smooth nonetheless. I'd probably call this an Early Spring Beer in a blind taste test.

Drinkability - this would be a good session beer that I would think the majority of beer snobs and BMC drinkers can both enjoy.

From total wine

A - Pours orange with a 1 fingered off-white head. Dissipates moderately with little lacing.

S/T - Lots of honey, with a light tea-like flavor, and some aroma citrus hops.

M - Full-bodied, well-balanced, and almost overwhelmingly sweet.

D - This would be a great introduction beer for someone who wants to get into the microbrewery scene. For the more experienced micro drinker, it is fairly tame for a pale ale and one may expect a hoppier resolve.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light golden brown color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of caramelized malts, tea citrus and a little bit of hops.

T: The taste pretty decently balanced with flavors of caramel, citrus and tea up front. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy. The hops presence is mild for the style but works well for this beer. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and very crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

D: Tasty in its simplicity, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, there's nothing outstanding about this beer but it's very solid overall and I found it to bee surprisingly drinkable.

Pours a clear, copper/golden color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of a general sweetness, hops, earthy malt, and slight raisin aroma. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. There's a strong dryness associated with this brew. Tastes of hops up front (English style - dry), earthy malt background, and some slight banana flavor. Overall, nothing special as an American Pale Ale, but a decent English Pale Ale.

Got in a mixed pack from Boulder Beer. My very least favorite Boulder Beer to date. Wow...is there anything positive to write about this beer? Not really. The only medium or average grade it gets is a 2.5 on appearance. Thats it. They say that they are Colorado's First Microbrewery....well they need to back to school because the times have changed since they went into business. Up the standard. Give me most macro brews before this one.

Musty. Funky aftertaste. Pass Time is the name....boy they aren't kidding. This beer's time passed about 2 decades ago. Lets catch up to the modern scene shall we?

On a positive note, I really do like the Planet Porter. Here is a beer that Boulder does an ok job at. This one...yeah, not so much.

Poured from 12oz bottle to pint glass.

A: Pours a copper body with a very small off-white head with extremely poor retention and no lacing.

S: Smells hoppy with a strong malt balance with hints of green tea and slight caramel.

T: Very similar to the smell. Good hop/malt balance with solid caramel notes with a green tea bitterness.

Overall: Poor mouthfeel, low carbonation and an awkward body. It's still fairly drinkable seeing as how it's not a horrible beer.

This is a respectable and quite a light APA. It pours a lightish copper color with not much head, some lacing present. The nose on the beer is slightly honeyed, some bready grains, quite a bit of mustiness, a touch of florals in there too.

The taste is fairly uniform, none too complex. There are some honeyed caramel flavors, some tea like very mild hop bitterness, some sweetish malts. The beer is very smooth, not much creaminess going on, fairly light bodied, but not watery. The beer is a bit prickly on the tongue from the tangy carbonation. There is a touch of a coppery maybe a slightly woody or oaky cidery flavor to the beer, but this is hidden behind the caramels and the tea like hops. This is a fairly light beer, with no real aftertaste, and a mild mouthfeel. It's okay, not great.

A - Pours up a slightly hazy gold, with a dense white head

S - Faint smell of malt with hop accents.

T - Starts off with sweet malt balanced nicely by hops. Finishes slightly dry with a nice hop flavor--not exactly bitterness, but more herbal

M - Good mouthfeel, slightly creamy, slight carbonation tingle

D - Smooth and easy drinking.
