Bottle from the brewery
Deep golden colour, hazy, some floaties in the glass, soapy white head. Smell is all oak basically, vanilla, some cereal and malt deep down. Taste is oaky initially, malty, hops and biscuity in the finish, moderate bitterness and wisps of alcohol. Thinish mouthfeel, barely carbonated, a touch syrupy at points. This wasn't great but also wasn't awful, fairly pedestrian oaked ale, nothing to actively seek out.

Bottle shared by Pino, 650ml bomber into a tulip. From the brewery.
Poured a golden brown, mild murkiness to the body. Light whispy head and some good lacing. Nose of oak, light biscuit notes, and a slight maple sweetness (what kind of wood was employed?). Some woody notes as well, but hints more to wood chips than barrels. Taste is oaky, some rye and whole wheat breadiness. Mildly acidic, with some more woody/foresty notes tied in to this. Mouthfeel is light and watery, oak dominates throughout. Low carbonation. Not a ton of flavour in this one and I certainly prefer the original to this oaked version, although not by a significant degree.

Incredibly strong oak aroma. A light mouthfeel. Cidery. A light orange colour. Ton of oak and not that drinkable, the verdict is this is oak chips. This was better than the original but still a wonder at why it would be given this flavour.
Peeno's bttle from the brewery.
