Rich and creamy with a wonderful malty palate, slight chocolate finish. Very impressive.

Presentation: Long brown 1 pint European-style bottle. Freshness date scored on the back label.

Appearance: Dark rich chestnut brown that pours a thick off-white head. Healthy looking and retains for quite a while.

Smell: Fruity esters, grape bubble-gum, sweet malts, hints of caramel and alcohol.

Taste: Smooth, syrupy and creamy mouthfeel. The hearty full-bodied richness of the complex malts is staggering. This is a seriously malty beer with loads of buttery toffee, caramel, toasted malts, juicy ripe fruits (grape flavours), chocolate, raw honey and touch of smoke. There's a nice spicy bite, a combination of just enough hop flavour and light bitterness to balance and a very strong alcohol presence that pricks at the palate. Finishes with some spiciness, bit of dryness, bready flavour and sweet alcohol residuals.

Notes: At a hefty 7.2% abv., Bajuvator has got to be one of my favourite Doppelbocks ever. Hell, maybe even one of my favourite beers ever! You can really feel the alcohol in the brew, so look out!

Classified as a "Malt Liquor" on the bottle, for legal reasons, but we all know better than that.

Chocolate garnet – one of the darker German beers I’ve seen – and loose lumpy beige head that goes pretty fast. Stinging sourdough rye nose with ash, prune and dark cocoa, opening to autumn leaf.
Treacle cakes, some marzipan, lots of plum jam, and a bit of raisin with clovey end and a hot buttered rum thing, too.
Caraway and black cherry finish and humming minty linger. Medium to full, chewy, oily.

Either very sweet and full or under attenuated – almost the total opposite of Maximator. Big, with lots of fruit pastry notes, almost like a winter ale. The hops are missed, but it works as a malt bomb, hiding the ABV well. Still, a bit sickly sweet for me, though it dries out and heats up as it warms and opens.
