Pours a dark caramel color, head is high with poor retention. Lacing is medium. Smell caramel like and little or no presence of hoppines. taste is boring with some refreshing character. It is not the beer I would like to have normally. I was expecting a richer and complex flavor.

A: dark reddish color with a big crispy head, white color, compact bubbles that left a trace behind on the glass. Medium carbonation but a layer on top is not always present.
S: penetrating toasted malts, and not other complicated than in or combinations.
T: a malty flavor, definitely barley backbone.
M: sensation in mouth is balanced starting neutral and some sweetness appears suddenly almost no bitterness just a very short touch.

Looks like a cola, with a big initial fizz and then no lacing. Color is a lovely shade of brown with some red highlighting. Aroma is very faint with a mere touch of caramel malt. Too clean.
Body is middle of the road, flavor is lightly sweet with toasted nuts and a lightly bitter finish. Very clean. There's not much to say about this one; it's a very standard dunkel and fits in almost perfectly with Mexican "obscuras". Not a compliment.

a solid dunkel with a coca cola look and a nice head of about two fingers. a nice dry and toasty nose with no abv to notice. palate is a balance of briskness and malt. not particularly bitter of a finish. some sweet that is quick bittered. but a subtle thing. nice and toasty... and simple. great for april.

A: of dark reddish brown with some trends. Beige hue little head, little residue of rapid dissipation, steady carbonation
S: Aroma of caramel and roasted
T: In the flavor to be perceived by their two essences, caramel and toast with a sharp end and plenty of candy.
Light body, easy to drink

I had this beer on tap at a sidewalk restaurant in Nurnberg. Two of them went quite well with my meal. The beer was served in a tall 1/2 liter Tucher glass; nice 1" head, deep brown, delicious. It had an excellent dark, maltly flavor, and is one of the better German dark beers that I've had while here in Germany.
Highly recommended!

Brown to dark ruby colour. The caramel is everywhere, in the smell, in the taste, and in the aftertaste (really long lasting). The smell and the taste resemble kvass a bit - malty and sweet. The head does not keep for too long. Stronger than a typical Czech Dunkel.
Perfect drink for buttered pumpernickel bread slices.

Dark brown color, ruby edges. One finger of a quite compact beige head.
In the smell malt and caramel, sweet. No more.
Same in the taste. The sweetness of the caramel is quite long.
Same in the aftertaste. Sweet caramel, and non more.
Industrial version of a dunkel. Not much interesting.

Had this at the Bratwursthauesle in Nurnberg first night there. From my notes:
Nice malty nose similar to the doppelbock (malty, rich, some dark fruits) without the alcohol.
Color was a mahogony brown
nice malty flavour with little hops - easy drinking
medium light body with moderate carbonation
a good session beer

Good stuff, on tap, out and about in Nurnburg. Pour was clear medium-> dark amber. It was topped off by a thick white head which quickly dissipated. The aroma was very reminiscent of fresh dark rye bread. I think the mouthfeel is fabulous. The taste is of smooth malt, slight bitter aftertaste, basically what a session beer should be.

Dark ruby red. Nice roasted notes but a bit thin and watery. Sweet candied malt aroma, and brown sugar. Very little to no head. Very bitter at first, mellow malty flavour in the middle, finishes sweet. Full bodied. You can taste the alcohol in this brew after only a few sips. Not great, but not bad either.

Has an A-1 mahogany/chestnut color, with a tan, rocky head. The head starts at about 2" then thins down to a lasting layer with good lace. Nose has some caramel malts and a touch of sweetness, but is very mild. Just about medium in the body and smoothness departments. Roasty malts and some caramel flavors come forth, with a bit of a lean to the bitter side at the finish. Better as it warms. Not bad at all....
