look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4
Appearance: Thick, foamy, beige head on a hazy orangey brown body.
Smell: Malty nose with some tart fruit aroma.
Taste: Malty and crisp with some faint fruitiness. Minimal hops.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with an average carbonation, pretty smooth though.
Impressions: Definitely good, although I think some additional hoppiness could have balanced it nicely.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass
A- This weizen is dark brown and murky due to the yeast. There is that typical fluffy white head.
S- Strong smell of wheat, spice and banana. It is basically liquid banana bread. There is a small amount of hopping noticeable.
T- This tastes like banana bread upfront, but finishes a bit bland. Still pretty good.
M- I quite like the rather smooth carbonation and the way it goes with the flavor. Quite nice.
O- It is worth trying if you are a weizen fan. I will likely have this one again.

look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 3.5
Appearance - Pours dark, reddish brown with a 2 finger off-white head. Decent retention, the resulting lace is consistent and with a fair amount of stick.
Smell - A bit of caramel is the first thing to hit my nose, with scant notes of banana and spice off in the distance.
Taste - As with their hefe, the dunkel is not much different. Mellow, scaled back flavor. Very subtle hints of caramel and clove. Even less so, banana. Finishes fairly bland.
Mouthfeel - Light to medium body with a lively, aggressive carbonation. Wonderful from tongue to swallow... if only the flavor could match.
Overall - disappointing. The krystalweizen was the big winner between the three Tucher's tonight, and it wasn't even close. It's good, but nowhere close to great, and I probably wouldn't buy it again.

500mL bottle served into a weizen glass
Pours a very brown ale-like color. It's a moderately dark brown closer to the top of the glass, and more of a honey'd shade towards the bottom. A nice, frothy head of 2 fingers forms.
The aroma is pretty light, all things considered. There's plenty of hefeweizen character here: clove, banana. Some breadcrusts character (not toasted) bolsters things. There's also some stewed apple here...not dissimilar from an English ale.
The taste is a weaker version of the nose. Flavors of apple and breadcrust meld with the traditional hefeweizen flavors, but nothing stands out. It's not so much balanced as it is unassertive.
The mouthfeel is pretty light, almost watery. The carbonation level is fairly sharp, but a touch more body would help the dark wheat flavors shine.
Overall, this is pretty average for the style. It's a nice, affordable quaff for sure, though.

Finally, on to the dunkel:
Amber brown colored with orange and yellw hues, visible carbonation running through the body, and a creamy beige head on top that is thick and holding on top well. There's a good aroma, reasonable cinnamon apple, nuttiness (walnuts), and some phenolic action as well.
The flavor of smashed apples is dominant all the way around. Well, the first sip is a mix of cider and nuts, then the apple note starts to take the stage. Not quite as delicious as its kristal or helles sibling. A slap of alchol makes appearances from timr to time. Mouthfeel....that's the best part. It's rather smooth and creamy, with a medium body that picks itself up quickly.
Solid dunkleweizen, and another warm day refresher.

Pours a clear amber color with a solid one inch cream head that dissipates somewhat quickly, leaving no lacing. Could be a used glass issue.
Melanoidin aromas, caramelized sugar, toffee, and classic hefe scents of banana and wheat are present. There's a slight fruity ester quality underlying the profile.
Flavor is predominantly hefeweizen, with wheat, banana, clove, and orange peel comprising the initial sip. There's a bit of toasted malt that forms the backbone of the beer. Hints of nutty caramel add complexity as it warms. Citrus undertones are a little overpowering.
Body is moderate, with fairly high carbonation, and a bit of a bite at the finish.
Overall, a fairly hefe heavy dunkel weizen. The malt character is pretty much overshadowed by the wheat, citrus, and spice characteristics.
