Originally brewed to celebrate the marriage of King Ludwig in 1810, this malty, amber lager is rich and smooth, with a great balance of malt and hops. Great for celebrating the crisp days of fall!

a lighter and sweeter take on the style, nice here where its still sort of summer too, but maybe not quite big enough for the chilly fall nights around the corner. a good compliment to the food in here though, which can definitely be on the heavy and hearty side. bright orange with great clarity and a slowly fading white head. it smells like a marzen alright, sweet corny malt on top of the normal autumnal caramelized grain profile, and a little less lager yeast character in the nose, but clean and still fairly crisp there. the flavor is good too, i dont mind this not being quite so dry, especially with the lighter body, its a more than fair substitution. some nice toasted honey notes here, good malt flavor and freshness, a little less german than it could be, and much less carbonated than i like the style to be, but a nice enough execution. i have not had many lager types from these guys, so this was something fun to taste from them. every time i come here i am reminded how much i like what they do. great vibe, great food, solid beers, cool spirits. tough to beat that, especially this time of year...

This Okey came to the table in the standard shaker pint glass, with a nice looking semi-hazy amber orange, hints of brown around the edges. Topped off with a small and quickly dying white head.

Rich, malty beer - started sweet but finished with a balanced spice and hop kick. Almost English style, with a bit of underlying woody resin.

A very good beer, this one could be session status, except there are too many other good beers to try.

Poured from the tap a deep copper-amber color with an off-white head which quickly faded. Light lacing to the end.

The smell was ripe fruit and a bit of caramel malt.

Taste was a good balance of fruity hops and malt.

Mouthfeel was rich and smooth with almost no carbonation.

This really hit the spot with my Cuban pork dinner on a crisp September evening. Enjoy it while you can.

A - Pours a brownish reddish hue with a creamy beige head the rises and then tucks itself into the corners of the glass.

S - I pick up a slight roasted note, along with an interesting fruitiness, I think its blueberry, oaty cereal like scents, some spice as well. Very nice and unique.

T - The oat plays a substantial part, roasted malts are kind of underwhelming but they are there, the fruitiness is not nearly as strong as it was in the nose but it is still evident. Really I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Really quite nice.

M - The body of the beer was a little thin, but overall it was above average. Could have used a little more weight on the palate.

D - The lack of mouthfeel on this really helps in this category, not to mention that the beer is pretty well balanced so that it doesnt fatigue your buds out. Definitely will order this again.
