Wheat malt sweetness & chocolate malt roastiness are balanced with a subdued clove & banana flavor and aroma in this dark copper German classic.

Pours a cloudy, copper color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of roasted malt, sweet malt, yeast, citrus (grapefruit), and slight hop. Fits the style of a Dunkelweizen. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, sweet malt, slight hop, citrus, and slight yeast. Overall, very similar to their Bavarian Weizen, but a little more roasted malt and slightly muted flavor.

Very nice brew, but a little out of wack drinking this in the middle of a cold winter day - this would work much better in the spring or summer.

Still, an unfiltered hazy amber brew, almost murky, with a frothy ivory head that left lace rings in the shaker pint on the way down. Notes of banana and clove waft up and progress into the quaff. Fairly thick and rich wheaty malt brew, with a touch of apricot in the finish.

Very tasty brew, I'll be back for more in the warmer months. Another well done brew from the men at Augusta/Square One.

Sample at the brewpub: Dark amber color with a medium and fluffy ivory head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Fruity malt aroma with floral hops here and there. Medium body with a clean mouthfeel. Sweet fruit, malt and mild spice flavors. The finish is sweet toasted malt with more sweet spice. Overall this beer is kind of a one-trick pony, yet a passable drink.

Dark amber to brown in cooler and very hazy, this beer has just a light off-white head. Wonderfully smelling beer. All of the banana and clove you would expect in the nose is delivered by a nice Bavarian yeast strain. Light caramel from the malt. The flavor meets the promise of the aroma. Layers of banana/clove esther, a pleasant caramel character from the malt, and just the lightest touch of lemon citrus from the hops. Slick, slightly oily mouth feel. Great drinkability. This is a wonderful summer beer, and an even better weizen than their Hefe.
