Our unfiltered wheat beer is a tribute to our Brew Master’s German Heritage. Our recipe is very light amber in color. The yeast is from southern Germany, and produces the clove spiciness and banana fruitiness.

So first things first, this doesn't taste like a traditional Hefeweizen. It doesn't have a super prominent punch of banana and clove, although those notes are there. It is more of a really nice wheat though, with layers of citrus and even a little hop bitterness in there for good measure.

Single finger head on a cloudy dull golden body. Sweet lemon custard and little else for the aroma with some wheat. Flavor is a bit watery with mostly rice and wheat and some lemon coming through in the middle. Light body and moderate to high carbonation. Incredibly boring beer even for the style.

Served this Hefeweizen on tap, at the brewery , in a pint glass. This Hefe poured a cloudy, orange color, produced an average off white head, great retention, and excellent lacing. The aroma consisted of malted wheat, bananana, and citric hops. Medium in body, this brew had a sweet malted wheat base, some grapefruit , and clove. Overall, very nice session beer, well made. Prost!

Poured into a pint glass.
A - Pours a slight orange yellow with some nice haze and a half inch white dense head that sticks for a while. Looks a bit more like a Weizenbock.
S - Bready and wheat filled aroma comes up first with the slight clove and banana yeast notes on the back. Pretty straight forward and refreshing.
T & M - Starts off with a slight citrusy malt notes followed by some bready notes. There is some grain as well as some banana and clove notes. Pretty nice and refreshing brew. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing with a slight chalky yeast note.
O - Square One is a great brew pub all their beers are true to style and well crafted. This is a good and simple beer.

Pours a cloudy, orange/copper color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of tart malt, dough, yeast, sweet malt, citrus (grape fruit), and slight hop. Fits the style of a Hefeweizen. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of tart malt, yeast, dough, citrus, slight hop, and slight sweet malt. Overall, a great aroma, body, and blend. This recipe must have drastically improved within the last couple yeast.

It has a soapy bubbly head and lace. The body is a hazy gold which redeems it after the soapiness of the carbonation. It has almost no smell. The mouthfeel is light and is also soapy. The flavor is bitter and chalky. There is a little bit of malt in the flavor but not much. It has an odd bitterness to it. I am not fond of this beer at all.

Sample at the brewpub: This beer pours a cloudy yellowish-amber color with a minimal white head and spotty lacing. Aroma of bananas and yeast, with hints of spice. Light body with banana, spice and candy flavors along with a pretty solid malt base. The finish sweet clove and malt, and lingers for a bit. Slightly above average overall.
