Most everyone has heard of this style, even if they haven’t tried it. Our version is a traditional dry Stout, found in the southern part of Ireland. It’s dark, drinkable and definitely true to style.

Two finger tan head with nice lacing but poor retention on a jet black body. Coffee and milk chocolate dominated aroma. Flavor has mild coffee and hint of bitterness with more dark than milk chocolate, roasted malts. Medium body and light to moderate carbonation. Finish is dry mostly from the coffee. Nice Irish stout but definitely coffee forward flavor although not coffee heavy of that makes sense.

Had at the Brewery on 7/9
Served in a pint glass
A: This beer pours an opque black with a 1/4 inch of khaki head. Head recedes to a film immediately and leaves wispy lacing on the glass.
S: Nose is roasted malts, coffee, and milk chocolate.
T: Taste starts with a nice roasted malt flavoring. The middle is filled with a nice dose of milk chocolate and a surprising floral hop hint. Finish is all burnt coffee notes.
M: Light body, medium carbonation, clean and crisp with a dry finish.
D: Goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, nice representation of style. I could easily have several pints of this brew!

Part of the sampler, 5 ounces poured into a sample glass at the brewpub.
Pours a deep black color with a nice tan head. Aromas are dominated with roasted coffee and a little chocolate. Quaff is extremely creamy and again dominated with the coffee flavors. Mouthfeel was medium bodied and very creamy. This was a very drinkable brew, I wished I had more than the 5 ounce sample pour.

Pours a black color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of roasted malt, sweet malt, slight yeast, and hint of hops. Fits the style of an Irish Dry Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, sweet malt, hops, slight yeast, and a hint of grain. Overall, slightly better than average Irish Dry.

Sample at the brewpub: This brew is brownish-black and nearly opaque with a medium tan head that has pretty good retention. Patches of lacing. Sweet malt and coffee in the nose. Medium, creamy body that seems thin at times. Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate flavors. Finishes with bittersweet chocolate and light hops. Aside from not being very robust, this was alright.

Excellent apperance with a head that persisted for 5 or more minutes. Served on the chilly side but head and lace did not mind wait so I was patient also.
Chocolate, and dark roasted malts in nose and on the palate. Some rome for improving the complexity but this is an Irish not a robust stout. Mildly dry finish from IBUs and dark malts. Mouthfeel a little light for a stout more porter like (medium light) paired perfectly with their pulled pork sandwitch.

Rich dark black color, creamy sticky brown head that leaves a clingy lace in my glass. Chocolate, burnt coffee and smokey aromas. Roasted coffee, chocolate and smoke flavors, nice bitter- burnt dry finish, medium bodied with a full and creamy mouthfeel. Lots of smoke flavor for an Irish Dry Stout, maybe different than advertised, either way I really like it.

Their dry stout was solid, sure to be a favorite among stout luvers. Dark brown/black with a lacey tan head. Good Start. Hints of chocolate and malts in the aroma. Good, good.
The quaff (served in a pint glass at 45 degrees, nice); burnt toast, charcoal and chocolate swirled about, very crisp and dry brew. Medium bodied, I could have drunk these all night except they have other offerings Im anxious to try.
