Notes:
Our award winning ale is a traditional sweet stout. Rolled oats bring out the flavor and richness. It is full bodied and is a meal in itself.

Welcome to Manchester!!! Arrived at Manchester airport for a 1/2 marathon over in New Market. Was picked up by my bro-in-law and quickly swept away to Milly's Tavern to begin our pre-race inebriation. The Oatmeal Stout was a very solid beer, with great nose and taste. The color was black/dark with perfect head that left a good lace. There was espresso and roast on the nose, which lead to a very good tasting stout. The mouthfeel was fine...could drink alot of it if I had to. Certainly worth a try.

Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a dark ruby brown to black coloring with a foamy, frothy, low profile, light brown colored head. Aromas of chocolate, roast coffee, and toasty grains. Flavors are much more coffee based, with a slick, tangy sweet underlay that keeps the bitterness light and balanced. Somewhat of a campfire char highlights, also. Aftertaste is slick and bitter, with a roast coffee ground flavor lingering behind. Finish is surprisingly sweet and rich, with a bitter linger. More dry and bitter than most oatmeals, but damn tasty regardless.

A nitro pour at the brewpub today.
A: The oatmeal stout is a black beauty, dark and bold with the darkest of brown hues complimenting the depth. Resting atop the stout is an off-white head, thick and creamy thanks to the nitrogen. As the ale is consumed, the head laces in strata.
S: The nose is creamy, sweet with lactose and cream. Underneath the sweetness, roasted malts with chocolate and coffee linger. The whole package is sweet and roasted, building the anticipation.
T: The first sip is money, sweet and dark. The creamy oatmeal aspect is sweet with au lait fullness. The creamy taste leads straight to the stout's fullness. Roasted malts, burnt and charred, along with chocolate and coffee are present. The combination of all of the flavors is a sweet, dark taste that carries no boozy baggage with it. A delicious oatmeal stout.
M: The mouthfeel is creamy, oatmeal sweet. Offering lactose, burnt malts and chocolate, it was difficult to put this beer down.
D: If not for the nitro tap, I'd carry two growlers out with me. A delicious oatmeal stout, well worthy of its multiple awards.

On tap at Milly's 12/28/10:
A: Dark brown and hazy with a 1 inch light brown foamy head that slowly dissipates. Becomes black, clear (as in not hazy), completely opaque as it starts to settle.
S: Lots of dark roasted malts, oatmeal, coffee notes, chocolate.
T: Oatmeal and dark roasted malts are the most notable flavors. There's a good helping of chocolate and coffee, medium caramel sweetness. Very creamy. A good traditional oatmeal stout.
M: Very rich and cream, full body, viscous, smooth, low to medium carbonation, silky mouthfeel.
D: The thick body make this almost like a little meal in itself, I paired it with a burger and thought it complimented quite well.

Sampled on tap on September 20, 2009. The pour is nearly black with a creamy, frothy tan head. The aroma is an alluring collection of oatmeal, hops, and malts. The mouthfeel is heavy and creamy. The taste had a good dose of hops along with the oatmeal and it was smooth overall. I liked this one.

Had the end of one keg and the start of another. Poured a nice dark black with a brown foamy head. Smelt like oatmeal, and tasted the same. Hints of some other grains in the flavor, and was very smooth tasting. Very easy to drink, with a slight hint of bitterness. No unneeded carbonation. Highly recommend this brew.

Wow, very smooth, rich, complex and sweet taste. Great creamy/smoothy mouthfeel. It is the darkest beer they server and I think the brewmaster got this one right. Full bodied, roasty aroma, and truly a privilege to drink! At only a dollar a pint during happy hour, they are practically giving this away!

This stout is one of their regular offerings.
Poured a dark brown/black with hints of red if held to the light, with good tan foam. The smell was malty but modest. The taste was dominated by dark roasted malt, slightly sweet, with a hint of oatmeal, and some flavors of chicory, coffee, caramel, and licorice mixed in. The mouthfeel was fairly full bodied with medium carbonation. The initial sweetness was followed by some bitterness on the tongue that lingered. The drinkability was good. A fine stout.
I got to sample the current batch, nearing the end of its run, and a new batch almost ready to go on tap. The newer batch was somewhat more mellow and lacked the bitter edge of the older batch. I think the brewer told me that they usually mix a bit of nitrogen in the tap line for the stouts, but in this case I am not sure.

Pleasing black color, frothy head, and mucho glass-lace! Nose had roasty-ness, along with some hoppy hints. Medium body, and a nice smooth palate. Taste was smooth, roasty, easy-drinking. A touch of sweetness, with a mild hoppy finish, leads to an over-all enjoyable pint!
