Either my sense of taste and smell are different from other reviewers of this ale, or I just have bad taste in beer. Either way, I think this beer is a tad maligned.

I've had bottles of this beer that were wonderful. Those that were wonderful were definitely creamy with a lovely amber color and pleasant aroma that went down smooth. These samples I could drink consistently throughout an evening without changing to anything else. However, I have had samples that were a bit on the bitter side.

Overall, this is a solid beer worth trying.

Wanderlust Cream Ale is a clear, light amber beer with a splotchy, light khaki head that has excellent retention and lacing. It has a slightly sweet, grainy, malty aroma with a note of caramel. It's light bodied, smooth and foamy with a slick finish. It tastes quite sweet. It starts off with sweet light malt and caramel. A light, herbal bitterness comes in later in the taste. The sweetness prevails through the aftertaste. This is too sweet to have more than one, really. Twelve ounces is more than enough.

Found this brew to be quite watery. I feel like it should be used mostly for beer pong and oter drinking games. It's very easy to put down a few in a sitting. I like most cream ales I feel that they are a classic style and I like that a lot. This brew should be revisited because I can't remember a whole lot about it other than I wasn't impressed.

Grade for the group = C+.

"Could drink a lot - nothing stands out."

First, the beer pours semi-dark with a slight head and is light brown in color with a slight tint of red.

Once the beer was poured and samples whiffed, the beer was found to give off a slight ale smell.

Once in the mouth, the beer had a lightly carbonated, crisp, clean, very smooth, less filling, acidic sense to it. However, others stated that they "feel no lust for this beer whatsoever... wouldn't even use for mouthwash."

As far as drinking the beer is concerned, we concluded that the beer is crisp, light, easy to drink, but unremarkable. However, one stated if they were asked to drink more, they'd state, "ABSOLUTELY!"

Finally, when tasted, the beer was stated by many as being sweet, buttery, and creamy in taste that has a strong after taste that fades. Others stated it had an unpleasant finish without much bark.

A: looks like cream soda. Very thin head fades fast.

S: creAmy and sweet. Caramel malts with light honey tones.

T: sweet and creamy. Light roasty flavors. Heady malts with sweet hoppy undertones.

M: medium bodied. Fills the mouth well

D: decent tasting cream ale. Nothing too special

My bottle says it was brewed in Utica, NY...Not sure why this says San Antonio, TX. The bottle is right though.
Never the less-what a crazy beer! I like it overall. A semi-light beer, medium head goes quickly to nill, big carbonation stays.
Taste is creamy and malty, but light and easy to drink. Most cream ales I have had are darker than this. But Wonderlust is totally different! More of a easy drinking summer cream. Worth a try!

A: Pours a deep amber/gold with a thick creamy head the dissapates quickly to a slight cap on top.

S: Malt, corn, a slight hop aroma

T: sweet, malty, corn is present along with a slight taste of carmel offset by a bit of bitterness

M: on the heavier side of medium bodied. Light carbonation. Lets you know you drank something.

D: Overall this is highly drinkable. It would go well with grilled burgers or hot dogs on a warm summer evening.

Thanks to swalden29 for sharing this bottle at a recent tasting.

The beer pours a yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is pretty malt with some malt sweetness and some corn notes. The flavor is more of the same with cream, malted sweetness and some adjuncty corn notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pete's Wicked Wanderlust Cream ale is an amber color with a huge soapy off white head.

smells of wheat and sourness. not bad, but a bad indicator of what is to come.

tastes grainy, funky, sour. not much positive flavor notes. there is some positive wheat and slight spice notes, however. this funky taste is overbearing and difficult to drink. even worse once it warms up a minute.

somewhat creamy mouthfeel. doesn't quite live up to the 'cream' ale expectations.

drinkable, but why? this beer offers me nothing that i enjoy

+ probably a good crossover beer. im sure it appeals to someone

- what is that sour funky taste here? this could be a good beer if it weren't for that off grain/metallic/old socks taste.

= this is the second texas brewed beer that i've had this week and have been disappointed with. ah, well, at least i can still rely on real ale and (512) to keep me satisfied.

Poured into a Perfect Pint glass.

A: Pale amber, with nice clarity and modest amounts of leisurely carbonation. A soapy eggshell cap comes and goes fairly quickly, but does stay as a ring at the beer's edge.

S: Malty sweetness has a touch of a creamed corn aroma to it. A very light musty cut grass aroma rounds things out.

T: It does taste oddly creamy, in a sugary sort of way. There's a white bread flavor that makes up most of what's happening. Bitterness is quite mild and adds a hint of lemon. Finishes with a lingering malty sweetness.

M: The body is quite thick for a beer with this ABV. Carbonation feels a bit high.

D: I honestly didn't enjoy this that much. Seems an OK take on the style, however. The relatively low alcohol content makes it an easy drinker.

12 ounce bottle - $1.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Although, they were unable to scan the bottle properly, and ended up using the Pete's Wicked Strawberry Blonde price. Close enough, I suppose!

Appearance: Pours a brilliant, amber body with a creamy-looking, mid-sized, white head. Excellent clarity, but it seems a tad darker for a Cream Ale.

Smell: Fairly mild nose of sweetish, lightly toasted malts with a mere hint of earthy hops.

Taste: Lightly toasty, lightly sweet maltiness. Faint, far-off fruity esters. Light earthy hop character with an equally light bitterness to counter the sweetness. Drying, brief finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: A simple, easy-drinking beer that I would coldly accuse of being forgettable, but, come on, what Cream Ale isn't?

Light amber with a creamy whipped white head that finally settles to soft peaks after about a minute or so and leaves sliding lace on the glass. Faint cluster hops and caramely malt in the nose. Tastes somewhere between an amber ale and pilsner, I guess that is kind of what this style is. Toffee and cookie dough with a semisweet chocolate kind of bitterness. Medium light bodied. Drinkable but not my cup of tea, probably the best Pete's offering I've had.

Appearance is a light clear amber. Small foamy head that lasts throughout. No lacing.

Aroma - Malts upfront with a strong sour sweetness. Didn't like at first.

Taste was suprising after the aroma let down. Sweet and creamy. Green grapes comes to mind. Hint of the malts. No hops to speak of.

Creamy and smooth - typical of the style.

Overall not bad for the style. Slightly suprised by the sweet taste. Wouldn't go out of my way again to buy this one. I'd probably give it a shot if I saw it on tap.

A 12 ounce bottle poured into my shaker glass. Appears a crystal clear bright golden yellow color with about an inch of fluffy white foam. No lacing to speak of. Smells and tastes of lightly toasted grains, sweet malts, very light grassy hops. Crisp and dry finish. A bit thin in body with medium carbonation. I really wish the same amount of attention was paid to what is in the bottle as was spent on the cool looking label.

A - Pours a nice golden color with about two fingers of head after a hard pour. The head shrinks to a nice coating leaving a lot of thick lacing on all sides of the glass.

S - It smells light with a slight sweetness. The offical website says wheat is used. No hops are detected.

T - Toasted malt with no hop bitterness.

M - Smooth but also very lighty. Almost watery. No aftertaste. A lot like other cream ales I have tried.

D - Very light and refreshing. This is marketed as a winter seasonal though during the hot summers I think it would go nicely on a patio.

The aroma is light but has a sweet malty character and both grassy hops and dust as well. The appearance is light amber gold with a large head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bit of a macro like taste which isn't great but is actually not bad at all. The palate is typical for the style. This is good enough to drink just about anytime but isn't terribly good.

The brew by Petes pours a nice shade of copper and leaves a dense head of of white. Upon receading at a moderate rate, it left some fair ribbons of lacing.

Nose is more average than I was expecting based on the color. It is mildly malty, slightly sweet and only has a twinge of aromatic hops. Flavor is just as the nose hinted but the malts come out a bit more and the sweetness has notes of caramel.

Body is medium and the carbonation is fair. Overall this is a an average brew, but as a higher than average drinkability.

A- Golden amber color. The head is kinda flat but still clingy. Not much else going on.

S- Honey, clove and spices can be whiffed out of this beer. There is a slight nutty/malty aroma in the beer.

T- The sweetness of the honey and clove are there. I'm getting a spicyness there at the end. But something there is strange, almost a weird grain taste. More drinking of this will have to be used to investigate.

M- Feels like a beer of this style should.

D- Drinks like a beer should, nice and easy.

A: Nice copper / amber color with a thick creamy head, about 2 fingers that reduced down to about a fingernail. Leaves a nice layer of lacing on the sides.

S: Smells hoppy, a little malty, bread / yeasty and cloves.

T: Wasn't as creamy as I thought it'd be. Tastes like hops, cloves, grapefruit, slightly of malts. Seems like a pretty typical amber...not what I expected at all. Has an odd tangy-after taste, sorta citrus like.

M: Carbonated, light-bodied.

D: As an amber it is pretty easy to drink but I am a bit disappointed in it since it had a really intriguing label and name. I was expecting a little better from Pete's. Also I was wanting a creamier beer. Overall just ok.

This is a decent, pleasant, lightly malty, easy-drinking beer.

Copper-gold, it has a medium off-white head slowly dissipating to a thin foamy and leaving a little lace.

The aroma is bread, toasty grain, overall malty with a light pine element.

The taste is similar, malty, lightly toasty grain, faintly caramelly with a faint bread quality and a very faint meatiness to the grain. It is lightly sweet with a light element of pine and grass givign a faint bitterness near the finish. It's a bit soft on the palate. It has a light "malt liquor" taste, but more toasty-caramelly in the grain and less sweet or corn-like, and with more full-bodied character.

It's actually fairly good but I agree with others that this doesn't seem like a "winter" beer.

I've seen this beer around forever but finally got around to buying a single of it and enjoying it tonight.

It isn't the most exciting beer out there but it is sure drinkable. Has a very smooth and clean taste to it without being overbearing flavor or alcohol wise. Not the best beer out there but it was tasty with the pizza I had and washed it down good.

Big goddamn name, is it a big goddamn beer? Well, out of the bottle it poured a dark gold/nearly amber color with a two finger head. Good retention and lacing. Aromas of malt and not much more. Slightly sweet, caramel hints. The flavors were malty as well with some grassy hops. A little buttery. Reminds me of a lager. Creamy mouthfeel but only a medium body. Really not what I think of when I want a winter beer and not nearly heavy enough.

Pours an dark golden color with a moderate head and some lacing on the glass. The head tapers off rather quickly. This seems and tastes more like a Lager to me. Malty, grassy aroma. Slight hoppy flavor with sweet malts mixed in and a bitter, dry finish. Not a bad overall beer and very drinkable. Nothing specatacular though.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass.

A - Clear amber with 2 fingers of head. Decent retention, settling to a thick film, with moderate lacing.

S - Indistinct malt with an almost maple syrup tinge. Light aroma of stone fruits.

T - Grainy malt that yeilds a more buttery, caramel flavor. Sweetness suddenly appears and just as quickly, disappears. The entire last half of the taste is dominated by an earthy, metallic bitterness that does little to add flavor. Finish is semi dry and sickeningly metallic.

M - Smooth and highly carbonated.

D - While this seemed like a decent session beer at first, the finish/aftertaste really deters. I don't know if this brew was hopped in some disgusting way, but without that horrible taste this beer would be a great, low priced session ale.

This doesn't look like a cream ale--too dark. Amber color and clear. Decent head that recedes into rocky foam but does not leave any lace.

Mild aroma without any off smells. Mostly malt, but it isn't sweet. No hops.

Slightly sour flavor. Again, mostly malty and reasonably dry. One dimensional in the flavor profile--the initial sip matches the swallow and aftertaste. Full bodied and carbonated well.

Nothing too bad about this, but not one I'd likely to seek out again.
