I've never been disappointed visiting World Wines &Liquor Friendly and helpful staff, thousands bottles to choose from and 18 handles to fill your growler. If they don't have it they'll get it for you (in most cases under a week). If you leave without a tasty beer it's your own fault.

Decent selection of beer. Most of the store is wine and liquor. I stopped in after an employee told me they have KBS. I had never been there and thought it was mostly a wine/liquor store. They had a decent selection and a list of taps. Seem to have rare beers for a longer period of time. When I was there, I was surprised to see they still have Plead the 5th and Double crooked tree (over a month after I had seen it anywhere else).

Went to get a 4 pack of each of the above and also a KBS (single bottle). I was told that they are only selling KBS to regulars. Which is fine, but don't lie to me over the phone, just tell me they are spoken for. Also if I'm spending $35-37 on other beers what does it hurt to sell me one.

As much as I wanted the plead the 5th and double crooked tree, I put them back. I would have become a semi-regular customer because they had great beers that sell out fast at my current regular stores. Also, the guy working the taps ignored me for several minutes before finally talking to me, then he was rather short. Maybe it was just the stress of KBS week or maybe the guy was just a d#$k. Either way, I'll stick to Red, Wine and Brew or Hienen's in the Mentor area.

Stopped in to browse on my way home after hearing how great the store was. Store has a decent selection of beer with emphasis leaning towards wine and Spirits. I tend to purchase mostly single bottles and found a limited selection that grouped by style and not by brewer. Found this a bit frustrating as it was harder to browse what was available. Owner stated they planned to expand the single bottle selection in the future. Save-On Tobacco & Beverage has a much larger selection of single bottles grouped by brewer and is a short drive away. The killer for me was when I went to the register with one bottle of beer to purchase that I had not seen yet this year (*NOTE* I already purchased a number of beers that day and had no need for another six pack at this time). At the register the gentleman was polite but informed me that if I used my debit card there was a $5.00 minimum purchase. Stores can not require a minimum purchase (they can lose their ability to accept MC or Visa for doing this) and I can not stand it. So I give it a 1.0 for service and will not return... I didn't buy the beer either.

**UPDATE** I decided to stop back to give the store another chance and am updating my review. Returning to the store I talked to staff and found them friendly and helpful with questions. The single bottle selection has been tripled since my first visit and is grouped by brewery which makes looking for specific brews easier. Overall the store is worth the stop and I have upgraded my service rating from 1.0 to 3.0. It would be higher if not for the minimum charge requirement on debit purchases which I do not agree with.

This joint has a nice vibe, near a good part of town and the inside is inviting as well.

It contains a hell ofa lot of liqour and wine (Duh) and a decent sized beer section. not the biggest ive seen but its pretty modest with mostly sixes and four packs. a wee section of singles and a slightly larger than wee size of Bomber selection.

The Rotating tap area is nice with a nitro tap for single glasses (had Founders Backwoods Bastard at the time I went).

The staff seems knowledgeable and friendly.

this place is pretty nice for a stop by

Stopped in on a business trip, with an empty growler in hand. Best part of the store is the growler fills. They have about a dozen rotating taps, current selection is hop-focused. My selection was a 21st Amendment Hop Crisis, not available bottled. Since I brought my own growler, it was $16.99, not bad. House logo growlers were $3 or $4. Most fills were in the $9 to $12 range. Included Bear Republic, Troegs, Sierra Nevada (Bigfoot! and Celebration), Great Lakes, plus a few more.

Service was great, staff very friendly and helpful. Not the biggest bottle selection. But the growler fills are the biggest draw, in my opinion. Overall prices were on par with State averages/minimums.

Definitely will be a permanent stop for my business trips in the area.

While it doesn't have the widest selection available it's pretty good. Most offerings are in six or four-pack format, not an abundance of bombers. They do have a selection of singles from broken sixers. The staff seem pretty responsive and helpful. They will order you cases of stuff if they can get it and hold them for you.

EDIT - 3/22/11 After stopping by to pick up a single up-charged KBS I realized the state minimum pricing is apparently no longer the stores policy. Bummer.

Also, they now have a growler filling station with 9 rotating selections, along with one nitro tap available for glass pours. Be careful who fills your growler, however; not everyone there will do it correctly.

EDIT - 3/20/12
Was told told come in today both last week by an employee at the store and again today over the phone, comfirming that they would be getting KBS in. Showed up and was told no, we don't have it. Called after leaving and was told the truth - that it was all presold to "regulars.". Fine, but don't tell me twice when it will be available. Weak sauce.

This place has become a lot more beer friendly recently. They now have 8 rotating taps for growler sales. They have more knowledgeable beer sales staff. They have a small homebrew supply area including grains, hops, and liquid yeast. This is probably all due to competition from new homebrew shops and good beer stores in the area. But I am glad to see it since it is close to my house.

Definitely check it out if you haven't been there, or if you were there a couple years ago and were not happy.

Not 1 of my favorite places to buy beer, but it's worth a stop. Sometimes they will have something left that my other choices have ran out of. Decent selection, very spacious. But just not as big a selection as others in the area. mostly focused on Wines. Service was a little slow, people didn't seem to care I was there for 30 min, finally I asked, and they said "someone will be with you shortly" I was the only 1 in the store. I walked out. Now to be fair, I did go back a month later, they were pretty busy, and someone helped me right away, but everyone there seems to be too busy to take questions or suggestions for beer.

World Wines is located in Mentor on Mentor Ave not too far off I-90. There is ample parking in the strip mall lot out front.

The store is largely devoted to wine and liquor and the beer section is in the rear. There are several coolers and shelves for beer, roughly divided geographically. Domestically they stock beers from Bell's, Stone, Rogue, Great Lakes, Victory and many others. There are also imports from the UK, Germany, Belgium and others.

Service was decent on my visit. I was offered assistance and the cashier was friendly, which was really all I was looking for.

Overall this store is worth checking out to anyone visiting the Mentor area.

I thought that this place was pretty impressive. After reading some reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasently surprised.

Selection included (but not limited to the following)...

Clipper City's entire Heavy Seas line-up, Dogfish (60, 90, Midas Touch, Aprihop), Founders (Centennial, Red's Rye, Breakfast Stout, Dry-Hopped, Dirty Bastard) Weyerbacher (Hops Infusion, Blithering Idiot, Fireside Ale), Langunitas (Shut Down, Maximum, Brown Sugga, Pale), Sierra Nevada (Torpedo, ESB, Pale), Avery, Great Lakes, Rogue, Bell's (Cherry Stout, Amber, Two Hearted, Expedition, Kalamazoo, Third Coast), Ommegang and many other Belgians, Imports, and Micros that I can't recall.

Didn't need any help, so not much to say about the service. Prices were not to bad, especially being that I'm from Erie, Pa.

This was once the top beer, wine or liquor store in Lake County. It used to be my first choice in all three categories. They had by far the best selection and they look for new stuff all the time. They have since been surpassed by other stores in the beer category.

The staff is good and they take their business seriously. They can give knowledgeable service. The have beer and wine tastings (specializing in the latter).

I have picked up singles here that were skunky - not fresh, so I stay away from their singles. They usually have great handles for getting growlers filled.

I had to revise this review as of 2013 and again in 2020. Be very careful what you buy here. The brews are plentiful, and thus many are well aged for you, including the styles that should not be. Lots of stale product mixed in with the fresh.

Not recommended.

This is a Liquor store but there is really a great selection I believe. The store is dominated by wine and hard liquor but there is a nice section against the back wall and a smaller case to the right of the back wall where there are beers ranging from domestic macro brews to american micros to belgian, german and even french and russian bottles. They carry rare one time only brews as well. The service is pretty good for a liquor store. I mean I shop and then check out but they were quick to provide a box for me to carry things out. The prices are reasonable. Rochefort 10 is $6.99 and Rochefort 8 is $5.99. I think that those prices are reasonable.
