On tap at HopCat, part of the Wood and Wild Ale Festival 2012. Served in a tulip.

Hazy gold, with a bit of retention and lace. Nose of funk, sour lemon qualities, tart citrus rind, light acetic character and some barrel. Taste has more sour lemons and other citrus notes, a bit of wine barrel, drying finish with a mild acetic bite. Some white wine flavour. Light feel, higher carbonation. A nice little funky saison/biere de garde/

I had this on-tap at the Livery, poured into a goblet.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy orange yellow color with a finger of fluffy white head. Decent head retention with some lacing.

Smell: A slight sourness with some sweet malt. Not getting a lot from the barrel here.

Taste: Quite sour. A bit herbal, tastes liked aged hops. Mild citrus notes and oak with a bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I thought this was a nice and refreshing beer, but I'm not sure that it benefitted much from the barrel. I'm not sure that I would have another.

Another thank you to Chad for sharing. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pour a light iced-tea color with a thin bubbly film of a head.
S: Strange scents of caramel, ambiguous dark fruit and maybe a hint of popcorn.
T: I get flavors of white wine with red fruits added to it. Slightly sour. The caramel smell is in the taste as well. Not much flavor really, and what is there falls off in the finish.
M: Light body, tingly carbonation and slight alcohol at the end.
O: There wasn’t very much going on in this beer. It was easy to drink, but what flavor was there didn’t impress me.

Thanks to Chad for sharing this growler.

A: The beer pours a hazy amber color with minimal carbonation and white foam.

S: A lightly tart fruit aroma, perhaps a bit of peach and lemon. Some wet oak and a bit of must and straw. Maybe just a hint of white grapes.

T: The flavor isn’t terribly impressive, unfortunately. A bit watery with some mustiness, straw, and oak. A moderate acidity and some lemon zest and light fruits.

M: Light to medium in body with low carbonation.

O: Seems like the growler didn't hold up too well in transit. Unfortunate, but thems the breaks.

A-Brilliant golden yellow with a thin white veil for a head. Foam left spotty lace.

S-Quite light with a bit of tart sourness with a bit of dry woodiness.

T-Light but nice stuff. Mild tartness really crisp and quite flavourful. Drying wood notes build with warming.

M-Medium-light bodied sharp and crisp with long lingering tartness.

D-For a multi barrel aged beer this comes across very refreshing and enjoyable. Nicely done.
