Quilmes is great! It is very drinkable but is like a quality friend who doesn't stand out. You can hang out with him forever, and he's a bit nicer than the average guy, but he's a bit plain.
I've yet to try the other varieties, but I'd like to try a pumpkin one if they made it.

I cannot believe this beer has a C-. This is a great beer. Quilmes is a Macro beer from Argentina, but none the less, it has a craft beer taste to it. This is hands down one of the best beers I have ever had. Not the best, but one of the best lol. Anyways, I bought my ex brother in law a 12 pack of 'Beers around the World' from Giant Eagle (grocery store that has a lot of micro brews, which is nice) Most of these beers were from macro breweries from, well, around the world. So, me and him decided to share the beers on Christmas Eve a few years back, and I was pretty surprised with Quilmes. It was so refreshing, but it was pretty complex IMO. I just want to give some props to this beer.

Poured a 12oz bottle, with a cool shape to it, into a big fat beer mug.

A- Very light, almost white, very little to no head, and a very minuscule amount of lacing.

S- Not much going on, but it didn't ruin the beer. Sort of a light lemony smell, with a smell that reminded me of Original Coors, gross :)

T- Very crisp and refreshing. Not too hoppy, sort of buttery, with some complex taste I couldn't quite put my finger on. Taste great though

M- Very light on the palate, no metallic taste going on here. Almost like a mix of Sam Adam's White Ale and Coors Light, weird combo but tasty

D- Super Drinkable, a great session beer. You could probably pound a whole 12 pack of this without a hangover due to its light body and flavor.

I tried it a few more times and I still loved it. I know there isn't much going on with this beer, but this is my opinion and I think it is an excellent macro beer. I would drink this over Sam Adams Light any day (it kind of reminds me of that). Give this beer a second try if you get the chance and really examine it this time.

Quilmes has a thick, white head, and a clear, bubbly, yellow-golden appearance, with thick lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is of pungent, semi-sweet barley malt, and the flavor is of sweet, sugary, bready malts and the slightest touch of hop bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Quilmes finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, dry, and wonderful. Bravo!

Well, another good lager beer for hot days. IT is not that great, but is good for refreshing. Very crystal and light Yellow. Although I got i a little frozen. IS the most comercial beer in Argentina, and there is even a Football team with that name, and a lot fo teams has the QUILMES name in the T-Shirts.

Poured into a small pilsner glass. Pours pale golden with a white head that dissipates a little slower than the typical adjunct lager. Some lacing is left on the side of the glass. There is a lot of carbonation present in this beer as made evident by abundant streaming bubbles rising in this beer. The aroma is of bready malts with a little bit of sweetness. There's a touch of grassiness from the hops. The flavor is grainy and bready with some sweetness. The hops do provide some mild flavor that's a little grassy. There's not much back end hop bitterness. The body is light with strong carbonation. The beer finishes crisp and clean. This is a highly drinkable beer that is a very good beer overall.

This is a great import beer. Not too heavy of a taste, but the elements that are there are tied together nicely and make a delicious beer. It is extremely easy drinking and would go down smooth and refreshing on a summer day. From the moment I cracked this bottle I was in love. What a good buy.

Has a nice straw color, and a decent head.
Smells of a nice floral lager, not like the basic skunk smell.
Tastes refreshing has a bit of a weird aftertaste however.
The taste of this beer is actually a nice one that I could drink repeatedly for an entire 24 hours.

A better beer in my quest for a great lager.

This beer poured a yellow that was nearly a gold with a wonderful thick white head that lasted quite some time and left a nice lace on the sides of the glass.

This beer's aroma was delightful and perfect for the style. The malt and the hops both came through but at a level that neither dominated.

The taste was more muted than I had hoped after the excellent appearance and aroma. Don't get me wrong. This beer does not taste bad. It just not have enough taste. The malt and the hops are balanced, but the bitterness is never promenent. The taste is clean and has no side tastes.

The mouthfeel is medium light and has a clean refreshing feeling behind.

I really like this beer for sitting around telling lies and eating BBQ. I will most certainly pick some more up to have on hand.

Color: pours like water with a yellow tint. sits crystal clear gold.

Smell: slightly malty. some adjuncts. pretty clean

Taste: slight malty sweetness. lots of corn and rice. slightly sweet finish

Mouthfeel: light body. moderate carbonation.

Notes: well, i think the only other adjunct ive had was a leinie. so in that context, and being from argentina, not a bad job i guess.

Quilmes is the most popular beer in Argentina, but that doesnt mean its the best one. It used to be better some years ago, unfortunatly I think its flavour became worst when they became extremly massive. its not a very smooth beer, but its very light, refreshing and cheap.

is smooth in taste, not like water but is indeed very light

We all gotta drink something Argentenian sometime. It's in our nature, our subconscious; Freud and all that stuff. We need it inside us. It's an urge. Giving into it once and only once, as an experiment, is not a sign of a personal lifestyle choice, an unshakable orientation, a bent, a tendency, or a hope to replace the being of one's self with an emblem, a shiny beer standing in for old mynie.

It's just something that happens.

Pours dark pils gold wiht a decent, short lived head. Good lacing. All that noise. Warrants a 3.5, and if it tasted better I probably would've upped it, to even everything else up.

Smells remarkably fresh for something imported from so far away and sold to me as a toss off in the single bottle rack. Deep pilsener grain. No hint of adjunct. No real hop presence, though. And not very complex.

Tastes nice and dry, light nodes of floral grain, hay, and weeds with just a kiss of the creaminess you get with a really superior Euro pils. Could use some hops, but really it's pretty good for what it is.

I kind of feel silly now, after having written such a rambling explanation about why I bothered to try this beer, in spite of its rather poor ratings. Seriously, this ain't bad in the least.

Pours a clear straw gold. Good sized white head, but it falls very fast. Nose is typical, but no skunky attributes or metallic tones at all. Slight earthy tone going on. Flavor is very uneventful. Just typical macro lager style. Minimal flavor impact. Still though, it isn't total garbage. Feel has a good amount of carbonation on it. Typical liquid feel. Drinkable sure. It is what it is. I am sure it would be even better if I was stuck somewhere in Argentina and no Duvel was to be found anywhere. Decent enough to try, but no great shakes here. Way better than most macro crap, though.

I'm judging this brew on how it compares to others of its style. It's a light golden color I haven't seen for a while with a copious amount of carbonation. The aroma has some corn and a bit of hops. The taste is corn with a bit of a tang. The tang is reduced with further enjoyment and becomes rather likeable. Growing up in Iowa, you come to love the taste of corn, so having it in my beer is a nice treat. It isn't a complex brew for analyzing and searching for the meaning of life in, just to enjoy.

I'm somewhat impressed with this one. It was in my fridge for too long, but the temp was very cold. Kinda lost track of this until last night.

Pours a light and clear gold, and the head is billowy and somewhat creamy. Looks good for the style, almost like a commercial. Decent lacing, nothing special....but neither is this style.

Grainy aroma, sweet and a bit corny. Husks. While the American versions (BMC) mostly smell stale, this one has some pops. Well maybe not pop...but freshness I guess.

Taste is sweet and light. Corn, grain, some wet grass. feels a bit filmy and the sweet turns a bit syrupy. Perhaps some floral hops on the back side, but nothing special there.

This isn't a bad beer. Surprised me. If I had only a choice between this and BMC...it would be this

Clear gold color. Smell is herbal grassy skunkiness. Very subdued however. You can smell some adjuncts like corn too but it isnt too bad. The taste is just a basic gold colored beer--certainly more flavor than our own bud and this is likely the bud of Argentina. For the style this is a pretty good one. Quite swillish but I still think its decent.

Poured from a 12 ounce brown bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Clear pale yellow body with a sizeable snow-white head. The head gives spots of lacing and has okay retention.

Smell: Grassy. Typical adjunct lager aroma. Nothing offensive about it.

Taste: Simple and straightfoward, nothing fancy about it. Just a solid and drinkable example of the style. Grassy with a light bitterness.

Given to me by my friend Alex. That bastard actually had this on tap in Buenos Aries.

Poured into a pilsner glass. Bright white head that goes to the edge of the glass. Recedes pretty quickly but does leave some lace rings. Color is a clear straw yellow with a ton of carbonation.

Smell is fairly biscuity with some lemon citrus hops. Taste is very dry and bready with a mild citrus hops background.

Mouthfeel is pretty clean and crisp. Tight carbonation. Pretty easy to drink. Would be even better in a cafe in Buenos Aries.

Hardly a great beer, this is nevertheless a good, basic, clean pale lager.

Straw yellow, it has a big, long-lasting white head that leaves even rings of decent lace.

The aroma is light with grain, honey, hints of herbs and lemon. Although light, the aroma is very pleasant and clean with a little complexity.

The taste also is light but thoroughly pleasant with a hint of complexity, but it is lighter than the aroma. It has light grain, lemon, 7-up, and herbal hoppy bitterness that is light but persistent and just dominates the finish. It's clean, crisp, and very easy to drink. The main problem is that the taste is too light and thin, which is too bad because what I can taste is good.

12 oz undated bottle

A - Pours a clear light golden color. Lots of bubbling on the inside representing some stronger carbonation. The head was strong at first, but quickly dissipated to a residue.

S - Not much of a smell on this one. The lightest hint of some corn might be apparent, with some yeast backdrop.

T - Starts out with the hit of malt and adjunct, probably corn. Middle continues a roll with some bitterness, but not a hops flavor. Finishes with a sweet and spicy floral note.

M - Very light on the palette. When swishing it around, it comes up thin bodied. Very reminiscent of a bud.

D - Easy drinking due to its light nature, its drinkability is relatively high.

Besides Bud, this one reminds me of Red Stripe as well. Have to wonder about the commonality of their brewing processes.

An average lager. pours a pale golden tone with a slight foam head. The smell is not very present but shows a few hops. The taste, sweet and somewhat bitter reflects some maltyness which leaves behind no bad aftertaste. A good south american beer, above the average and always a good purchase in the region.

Great looking label on this bottle. Poured a dull yellow, but had a finger plus of head that had surprisingly significant retention. Aroma had a moderate strength of grains with a tiny bit of alcohol. Taste was mildly of grains and a little sourness at the end-- a little bland. Fairly watery stuff. Still, Quilmes was a refreshing accompaniment to empanadas on a hot July afternoon.

Its a plain kind of lager-- but no major defects in execution, so that alone beats a lot of macros. Still, its mostly uninteresting in the taste department. If I ever find myself in Argentina, I won't turn this down as a thirst quencher; but I won't be seeking out much otherwise.

From notes 7-9-08

Eye: What you'd expect from a macro...pale yellow, borderline clear(as in water color, not clarity), and very transparent. Head is poor along with head retention, there is lacing, albeit quite thin and spotty...however what I've got here is better than I've seen from beers poured at many bars, BMCs among that...Still haven't been able to get a good head on anything in this pils glass though.... 3

Nose: Some malt sweetness and some barley character. Pretty light overall, light crispness to it. Adjuncts are here but in my opinion really don't stand out all that much, blended in fairly well. No considerable hop presence. It is not foul as are some Macros, this one is decent.

Tongue: Pretty good malt flavor, light, crisp and refreshing. This beer probable has the most malt flavor out of any macro I've ever had. Malt sweetness in there...as well as a little bit of hop flavor, not much, but enough for me to say that it is definitely giving this beer some nice bitter character and that it has a floral taste. That floral taste, however, quickly fades. The beer also has a dry finish with a short lived aftertaste.

Mouthfeel and Drinkability: Light, fizzy yellow beer mouthfeel...as it should be. Carbonation is high and scrubs the palate. As afore mentioned it finishes dry. This is quite easy to drink and is, in fact, one of the better macros I've drank. On the other hand this isn't one that I'd buy again....for 9.99 a sixer its overpriced for what you're getting. It is better than the majority of macros, but not so much better as to offset the price. A nice one to try, if you want to see what a pretty decent macro is like, but overall not worth the repeated buy. Macros have their place...though they all taste so similar that one can easily be substituted for the other....especially with food pairings, or the after the lawn beer. This one is too much money for pretty much the same product. I'm torn on the drinkability of this one because it is a higher end macro, but on the other side it is overpriced as well.

Appearance - Gold body, white half-finger head, some lacing

Smell - A bit of cornhusk and cereal

Taste - Very malty

Mouthfeel - Very light-bodied and somewhat creamy

Drinkability - An OK beer
