A-a orange-amber with a fingers worth of white head that sticks to the glass

S-rich malts, sticky caramel, raisins, and light bitterness

T-taste is a bit more bitter than the smell. There is still a large malt body with caramel, toffee, raisins, and then finishes with bitter hops. Alcohol is well hidden.

M-medium body, good carbonation

Overall not a super sweet or super hoppy barleywine, pretty good

Have no idea about the dating on this one but thanks to Brutaltruth for this! He gave me a 4 or 6 pack this past October I think, forgetting right now what this came in but I know I have some bottles left. 12 ounce bottle. Served in a chalice, the beer pours a reddish/copper color with about an inch and a half light tan head that stuck around a while. Good amount of lacing too. I like the aroma, the brew smells like bready malt, caramel, earthy hops, dark fruit and a hint of citrus. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also the addition of some brown sugar, canided orange and honey flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's smooth, slick, a bit rich and easy enough to drink. Definitely worth trying although I wish I knew how old this bottle was. Leaning towards this being older than fresher which is fine with me!

Picked up a four-pack from TW-Greenville, SC 1-22-22 for $15.99. No discernable bottling date but TDBC says this is available May thru August so presumably bottled in 2021. Consumed 3-25-22.

Beer poured a reddish brown with a nice off-white head.

Nose is very well done, full of dark fruits and fresh hops.

Taste is classic American Barleywine style. A large malt base emits notes of dark fruit and welcomes a large dose of alpha hops that are citrus and floral forward. Finishes with a nice bittering hop; 7/10 on my scale.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall a very good interpretation of the style! I can see buying this when available!

I definitely found this enjoyable but unfortunately it's just on the cusp of being truly great. There was some flavor to be desired. I miss Burns Family Artisan Ales lol.

Pours a muddled dark brown, thin head. Aroma has that familiar medicinal hops with light undertones of toffee, nut & malt. Taste is similar - unadventurous, straddles the line between English / American style without really finding an identity - more hops than I prefer, certainly medicinal / cough syrupy / a tad fusel, but not overpoweringly so. Solid if a bit wishy washy.

I love Barley Wine Ales and I really love this one. As many reviewers say, it is a complex ale. Very true.

With a big ale like this, it can be very difficult to keep the various flavors packed together. But that is what makes this such a good ale. There is such a nice balance in it, the 10.5% abv does not overwhelm the ale. Just excellent craft.
