Pours amber cloudy beer with excellent golden white head. Classic aroma of banana, lollipops and clove. Taste is not so full, but not bad, typical for weizen, less fruity, more wheat. Medium body, soft carbonation. Worthy brew from good german producer.

Appearance: pours a cloudy amber with hints of light brown with loads of yeast particles. The foam is three fingers high but goes away quickly, leaving a small lid on the beer.

Smell: very pleasant indeed. Yeasty, wheaty and sweet at first. Bananas, caramel (as of condensed milk), vanilla and fruity sweetness.

Taste: light citrus acid, white bread, wheat sweetness, banana and caramel. Slightly metallic aftertaste with a sweat finish.

Mouthfeel: crisp with loads of carbonation, refreshing.

Overall: it's a nice beer with a good balance. Taste is nice, smell is nice, feeling is refreshing. Can't really complain about much. Doesn't hit the jackpot but it's very pleasant.

The liquid is cloudy, there are some yeast particles floating around in the liquid. The colour is amber (23 EBC). The three finger head is pale yellow and airy. It sinks quite quickly leaving no lacing.

The smell got some fine wheat-sourish notes. Some banana candy and toffee/caramel. It is a bit dry.

The taste is overall smooth: Some caramel sweet flavours. Hints of minerals. The wheat character is quite low. The bitterness is low and somewhat metallic. Hints of rye/oatmeal bread. The aftertaste is smooth, almost light with some caramel, bread and phenolic notes of cloves. The finish is sweet and somewhat bitter.

The carbonation is light, the bubbles large and smooth. The liquid is a bit sticky and thick.

Bernstein-Weizen is a beer style seldom found outside of Germany. This one is smooth and pleasant, although the sweetness gets a bit mushy after some gulps.

The beer is clear amber, medium sized bubbles, a high off-white head, no lacing, small curtains.

Sweet honey and apricots, spices and yeast.

Starting sweet bread, apricots and peaches, some apple peel, cardamom.

Little carbonation, soft and smooth, medium body.

Smooth, easy and a good relaxing brew.

First of the mixed six pack and so far pretty impressed.

Pours the typical golden orange with a nice 3 inch head and solid retention.

Nose is a bit on the mild side; banana, clove, orange...obviously.

Incredibly crisp (this is a very prominent characteristic of this beer) notes of citrus and banana.

Overall; simple and solid, just a good hefe should be...notes are a bit mild but overall a pretty nice offering.

Looking forward to the rest of the pack!

This one I also got from the Stoertebeker giftpack, it's the first of the two Weizen-style beers in there, the other one being the "Roggen-Weizen".

A- Great, ambery ("Bernstein" means amber in German), yellow, hazy goodness. Just the way a Weizen has to look.
Would have given 5.0 if the head had stuck around a little longer and had been a little foamier.

S- Banana, clove, diggin it.

T- Familiar but yet different :D
It's definetely Weizen-like with it's banana and clove taste and the light orangieness, but there is a slight bitterness in the aftertaste I really like.
5.0 if the flavor was a little stronger.

M- Short aftertaste, but light and easy-going.

D- Just wow. I could drink a sixpack of these and wouldn't bother.

Yeah, so overall a really, really good Weizen, doesn't quite come close to Weihenstephaner and some of those Uberbiers, but it's most certainly above your average wheat.

Picked this up in a six pack at my local grocery, looked interesting. Read the history behind the name of the brewery, pretty interesting stuff.
Pours out a medium brown tangerine tinted tone, pretty nice head, nice creamy thickness. Poured into a proper Weizen glass, rises out of the top, and creates that lovely little "crater effect" in the middle. Good carbonation, pretty active actually.When yeast is decanted, a whole new level of cloudiness is added, really a nice looking Weizen.
Smells heavy in sour applewood, banana, cherry, clove, musty grain, bit of caramel, clove, sharp pepperiness, orange, a suprising amount of bubble gum is found here also. Interesting, sweet, yet also nicely sharp and complex. Hopefully the flavor can hold up.
Flavor is tart, lightly sour, and brightly carbonated. Orange, tangerine, banana, cherry, bubble gum, black pepper, clove, hint of coriander, sichuan pepper. There is a nice buttery biscuit not found in the aroma, and beer as it warms that provides a nice base for the other flavors to build on. The finish is spiked by a nice pepperiness that cuts through the inital sweet impression quite perfectly. The carbonation is a bit higher than other examples of Weizen I have tried, and I like it.
Mouthfeel is medium, yet lively, active, and beckons for another sip. The sweetness never gets in the way, due to the superb finish.
Reading other reviews, I was a bit dissapointed I had bought the six-pack, as others described it as being rather lackluster-while its not quite on the level of Weihenstephan, Schneider Weisse, or Andechser Weizen, it is very good and especially so since not actually brewed in Bavaria like most stellar Weizen beers. Very good for my taste, and I will try the Pilsner.

A: Pours very cloudy light amber-colored. Light ariy but still creamy very large head dissipates slowly leaving rich lacings.

S: Ripe bananas - wheat. Sweet malts, lots of spices and yeast. Citric notes.

T: A lot drier than the smell. Still ripe bananas, only not that ripe. Wheat, yeast, spices and citric notes. Some dark dried fruits!?

M: Body is light and carbonation rich, a bit offensive. Aftertaste is short.

D: A bit drier than other Hefeweizens I've had. Nice but not great.

What can I say this is a very average Weissbier in a below Bavarian standard sort of way.

I found their Roggen-Weizen much more enticing because it has this sour quality which this one is lacking and it is pleasant really but somewhat unexciting and average...

Bought in a 6 pack with 5 other different Störtebeker beers. Paid about $1 for the beer.

A: A very bright and saturated yellow with just a hint of orange. Quite carbonated.

S: Incredibly sweet. It smells like one of those orange cream ice cream bars. A cross between that and raw dough for sweet bread. Yes, and bubble gum too.

T: One of the sweeter Hefeweizens I've had. Quite pleasant. Medium bodied, pleasant sweet after taste.

M: Fine, nothing special

D: Probably too sweet for a lot of people, but I'm a fan.

This brew came in a limited edition tin. It's a nice looking tin, but adds to the price for one beer. I paid roughly seven US dollars for this hefe weizen.

Bernstein Hefe Weizen has an orange golden colored body, and is quite hazy and translucent. Large amounts of pale white head, which dissipates quickly for a weizen.

This is only slightly aromatic. There are hints of banana and bubble gum. There is nothing out of the ordinary here. Maybe a slight hint of orange aroma is also noted.

Taste’s quite light. There is a slight bubble gum flavor and an orange kick, but not very tasty. It’s actually kind of watery

Consistent with the hefe weizen category, and is quite refreshing. However, this is way too expensive for what I paid for.
