Stopped in today on the way back from Ohio.

Atmosphere... The place looks like a Krogers, just filled with booze and beer instead of food. They had alcohol infused whipped cream which interested me, but for $11 a can, I decided to pass.

Quality... was OK, I did not really look close at bottle dates or anything. I was mainly looking to see if they had anything beside the run of the mill beers from Bells, Founders, Great Lakes, etc. that I could pick up anywhere north of TN.

Service... Inparticular I was looking to see if KY had received any Blushing Monk. I would not have cared if they didn't, but the "beer guy" I was directed too ( figuring if they had it, it would be in the back ) did not even know what it was. He was nice enough about it and at least was honest and did not try to bull shit me ( or so I hope ).

If there was anything interesting in the back like some other people note, he would have had no idea or I was not cool enough to let back there.

I was not too impressed with the selection. Yes, they KILL just about anything in TN, but I did not see anything at all that really stood out and said BUY ME.

I may stop back in, but I am not going to make a special trip any time soon. It was just like any average store I bought beer in when I lived in OH or IN with the exception of the whipped cream and the massive selections of other booze.

Edit: I was in the area again today, ( exactly one week later ) so I stopped in to see if they had any Dreadnaught. I saw some last time, but did not buy it. I did not see any this time.

What I did see kind of surprised me at first until I realized what might have happened.

I saw the beer guy in the beer section. I did not say anything to him, but it looked like he remembered me. He turned around and made a bee-line for the stock room. I was not mad or upset with him the last time I was in, so I was left scratching my head as to why I got that reaction. This was only the 3rd time I have ever been here.

While I was looking for the Dreadnaught, I saw why he did what he did. There were 2 bottles of Blushing Monk sitting there and he must have remembered telling me that he had never heard of it.

I bought both bottles and was very happy that I did not find what I was looking for this time.

This is a big box liquor store, so atmosphere is bound to be weak.

The service is typically good, but I have had trouble finding workers to ask about availability and freshness. Again, it is a big store. The selection includes lots of Midwest goods as well as selections from Colorado and the West Coast. The imports section is also full of the usual suspects. One thing that I don't see at this store is much hard to find beers. It may not be part of their business model. That is the only complaint that I would have.

Visiited the Liquor Barn recently looking for what Lexington Ky had to offer in their Craft beer scene. I am really impressed with the selection that they have to offer. I live in NC and can't find Three Floyds and Goose Island, and that is what they have on a regular basis here. My last visit, I got lucky enough to run into one of the "beer geeks" that works here and was able to buy a Bourbon County Coffee which was in the back. I really enjoy going to this place when I'm in the Lexington area, and think that anyone passing trough should make a point to stop and check this place out.

The Liquor Barn on Plaudit Rd was a very nice store and I enjoyed my hour there. It's a relatively new store or so it seems. The store is organized and seems to be upscale without being too pretensious.
I was in a bit of a hurry so I only shopped the beer ailses but I will have to say that they did indeed have a high quality selection of beer.
The service was fantastic. I was there shortly after they opened on a Wednesday so there weren't any other shoppers at the time. I had the full attention of a super nice lady who shared what she enjoyed, what the had and would be getting. She layed out quite a few suggestions as well. It was also nice that she seemed to know a thing or two about beer and had obviously had tasted a couple.
I was only after beers that are not distributed to OH. They had a very nice selection of beers that I can't get in OH i.e. FFF, Schlafly, and beer with a >12% ABV so I was very happy. They didn't have the largest or even second largest selection of beer I've ever seen but again I was very pleased to get many beers I cannot in my home state.
Pricing was not out of the ordinary. Some bottles I thought were a little expensive such ast the bottle of Sorachi Ace that was about 13.00$ but for the most part it seemed on par with what I'm used to.

Ah the lexingtong flagship! They get the rare stuff, black ops, bourbon country coffee stout, etc. They however also are often out of what i want. Today I couldn't find a dreadnought while others had it.

Their staff is full of beer geeks, they know beer and they love it. AT least those stocking the shelves. The people at the register often are just blown away by the prices and well...I'm not saying to do this but if one were to play with them they could be talked into thinking a single of say world wide stout is ringing up at the 6 pack price....I've always corrected them but if one were dishonest the cashiers act as though no craft buyers ever go there.

In lexington this is the 2nd of the 3 liquor barns. All are worthy.

While this string of liquor stores varies in scope of selection, even those at the lower end tend to have some of the best selection to be found in the state. This location ranks in the upper levels for this company. In addition to an excellent representation of regional micros and imports, the store also has a very nice deli and gourmet and specialty grocery products. The location is relatively convenient for interstate access. Fresh baked local breads and a large olive bar are additional attractions.

I made back to back stops at the Liquor Barns at 3040 Richmond Road and 1846 Plaudit Place. Plaudit Place seems brand spanking new and gets my nod for having a larger and comprehensive selection of beers available in Kentucky.

This stop was in late April and they still had Founders KBS on the shelves (~$24 a four pack). I picked up a couple of 2007 120 Minutes and WW Stouts that I can't get in Ohio.

These stores continue the Northern Kentucky theme (Party Source) of one-stop shopping for all your party needs. They aren't quite as impressive as the Party Source, but are a great bet if you're looking for a variety of great craft beers available in Kentucky.

Wow, what a humongous place! I stopped by while visiting my brothers. The lengthy beer aisles pretty much covered everything you could want - local, American, German, Belgian, etc. I grabbed a 12 pack sampler of both Great Lakes and Schlafly's, along with some Sierra Nevada and a bomber of Schlafly's as well. They extensively covered some breweries, like Sam Adams, Goose Island, and Schlafly's - I've never seen so many from single breweries in one place. Being from Michigan, I was glad to see Bell's down there, but I don't recall noticing anything from Founders. The prices were entirely reasonable, too. With huge selections of wine, brandy, and other snobby groceries, it was a fun place to visit.

Very nice, new location. Close proximity to the interstate. Knew it was off the exit, but when I stopped at Shell to get gas and ask the clerk on the whereabouts he pointed up the street. As soon as I walked out the door you can see it at the end of the street.
Brand new store, nice layout, very clean. Nothing I can't find in my neighborhood or surrounding stores, but still a nice visit. Glad I stopped here on my way home, because it saved me the trip to visit this place. Super-friendly help. The gentleman that does the beer purchasing was putting product out while I was there. He talked, looked for whatever I asked for and even went upstairs to storage and grabbed some stuff that they didn't have on the shelves.
Very nice wine and specialty food section. Overall it's a nice, clean well laid out store. If passing thru Lexington, it's very convenient to get to. It's worth the stop if the area has beers you can't get.
