A: Pours a dull straw yellow with a slight haze. The head is thin and leaves something to be desired. Very light carbonation.
S: A nice bright nose with a perfect balance of light hops and malts, backed by a bouquet of grains.
T/M: This is an absolute thirst quencher. Clean, fresh, delicious, light bodied, with a nice carbonation to boot. Sweet on the front provided by the malts and a slight bitter back end with the hops. Again, nothing overpowering just a fine mix of two. A beer with just the purest flavors; it should put the macros out of business.

The best example of Munich Helles Lager brewed in the US that I have tasted. When your head is spinning from all the strange American craft beers purporting to be of the German style, try one of these. It will remind you what good German beer is all about.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a clear yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, little else. Taste is malts, grassy hops, clean and refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Had it fresh at the brewery. So much better than the average BA rating that is calculated mostly from the bottled version of unknown freshness. A medium malty character that is typical of this style.

One of those beers that you would like to try from draft sometime. Had it from a bottle bought in Pittsburgh during the Christmas break. Poured into a tulip glass. Bright clear yellow color with brief head and little lacing, effervescent. Floral, grassy smell and taste. Light feel. Generally a decent lager.

One of my all time favorites. This represents everything a lager should be!

L - Same clear gold with one finger white head. No lacing.
S - Moderate aroma of crackers and grassy hops.
T - Well balanced biscuit, malt and grassy hop bitterness. Clean and crisp.

Pretty standard - nothing off about it, just not a very exciting style - could use a bit more snap / crispness from the malt otherwise just a decent lager

Pours a clear yellow color with almost no carbonation. Smell is sweet and straw like. The initial taste is sweet and pleasant but really not a stand out. The aftertaste is non existent. The feel is thin and sweet and not much else. Overall, not impressed with this one, this is the 1st one from Penn Brewery that I have not liked.
