Stopped in here for shits and giggles after being down the street at Old Dominion Brewhouse. Selection is alright - for those of us in VA you can find all this stuff at a Total and they don't have much in terms of warm bottles, but I did find a Southern Tier Heavy Weizen for $7, which is a double plus for me b/c that's cheap (especially for DC) and I couldn't find it anywhere in VA. I found some other brews that I don't normally see in VA but nothing that was shocking. Still, glad I stopped in here.

This place is a great little find in DC. I live not too far from here, and discovered this place on a recent walk around town. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is huge and has a great selection.
I walked back to the cooler area, and found a great big cooler full of the typical BCM, but then I walked down a little further and I was plesantly surprised! There were at least three or four coolers full of some wonderful macrobrews! I found some great ones from Belgium.. Duvel, Hoegaarden, Leffe.. as well as some others that I really enjoy.. Unibrou, Dogfish Head, and Victory.
And surprisingly the prices were cheaper than anywhere else that I have found in the city. This place is a must stop-off if you are in the city and looking for some good beers at a great price.

Wandered into this place while walking down M street. It's a small place, but has a decent beer selection in the back. The coolers had no singles, but a variety of six packs with an American focus. I saw several options from Brooklyn Brewery, Dogfish Head, Magic Hat, Rogue and Allagash. Also Bell's Two Hearted. Not the biggest selection, but you'll certainly find something here you like. Prices were just right, with six packs in the 6-11 dollar range. They were also handing out some free samples when I went in, and the guy was happy to answer questions.

Modern Liquors is located on 9th at M Street NW right beside the Convention Center. The place caught my eye because of the Dogfish Head sign in the window.
Walking in I didn't hold out any true hope for craft beers, but I was certainly plesantly surprized. The selection isn't extreme or overly large, but contains something for everyone in the cold case. I did not notice any warm beers, but in the cold case they had a handful of Belgians, some Stone, some Dogfish, 120 min was about $8 which was about the least expensive I have seen it anywhere.
The proprietor gave me a card and mentioned that they close early each night. A quick check of the website shows it has been in business since 1968 and lists several of the beers they have along with the prices. They also have some others.
I'd certainly go back to Modern Liquors if in that part of town and looking for something craft to have. Not a mighty selection, but worth the time to stop if in need.
