Went to this beer store while in Tampa visiting my father. This place is very impressive. A huge inventory in every department, nice big singles aisle. Shelf talkers here and there provide information on a few beers. They didn't carry anything I would consider rare, maybe it was just bad timing? As far as the prices go I think it was kinda tit-for-tat. Some beers were in fact much cheaper than I'm used to, while others were comparable or slightly more expensive. This is definately my store when in the Tampa area!

Total Wine is the best thing to happen to the retail beer scene in the bay area in a long time. The primary attraction is their prices - they simply are by far the cheapest on anything they carry. They run a full page ad in the Tribune several times a week that includes the case prices on most major micro and import labels. Almost everything is in the upper teens to mid twenties per case. If you like wine their prices can't be beat on it, too.
Their beer selection is very good but not outstanding. You will still find a better selection of rare beers in a few places like Beverage Castle and World of Beer - but of course you'll pay for the privilege. Total has a nice selection of imports and micros and what you get for the price more than makes up for a few lables you might not see.
On my visits I have not had the opportunity to see how well versed the staff is on beer. Of course, in this area you almost never find knowledgable sales people selling beer save for maybe The Brewshack.
Overall, two thumbs up for this place, and a must visit for anyone seeking the rare combination of reasonable prices and good beer.

Before I was a beermaniac I used to frequent the Total Wine in Orlando for Jack Daniels & Miller Light never paying attention to the selection. I recently went to this location and I was impressed although I have had most of the beers there the is such a selection of local brewerys I have never seen or heard of. Plus it is right around the corner from Cigar City Brewery. Price are god due to the volume they purchaase. And if you like to drink wine or spirits this is the place! And the staff is friendly and willing to help find your requests.

I love Total Wine and I frequent this establishment often. The prices are very reasonable and there's an excellent selection of single beers. Almost every time I come here I leave with at least one mixed six pack, regardless of what I came in to purchase. They carry a fairly extensive array of Florida beers, including St. Somewhere, a small brewery located in Tarpon Springs (one of my favorites). I have never asked for help on beer selection but I've found the employees to be very knowledgeable on the wines available.

This is always our first stop after picking up the rental car at TPA (2-3 times a year). It's easy enough to find, even for an out-of-towner. There is a Target store across the parking lot in case you want to pick up a cooler or beach supplies for the trip.
Great selection of imports and micros from all over the country. They even have some of my favorites from here at home. My wife says the wine selection is great (I wouldn't know the difference) and I like the rum aisle for those occasions that I want something stronger.
The staff doesn't hover, but you know who they are if you have a question.

*Cheap prices and excellent selection*
Even though I missed the exit, it is easy to find off of 275 by the airport. Big parking lot around basically a warehouse sized building.
Only the beer caught my eye, but they have a warehouse of wine here too. Prices are DIRT CHEAP and the beer and the section is well organized with shelf talkers to explain styles such as fruity, hoppy and seasonal like Wit is h current seasonal. Signs indicate if they are out of any beers.
Here is a list of their standouts: Jolly Pumpkin, Rogue full line-up, Mendocino, Allagash, Avery, Abita, DeKonnick, Affligem, Rochefort, Meantime, Samuel Smith, Unibroue, Celebrator, Belhaven, Traquir ($4.99) Framboise, Delerium, Duvel, Kwak, Kasteel, Khonings Hoeven, Gouden Carolous, Saison Dupont, Great Divide, Flying Dog, North Coast...and there's more.
Service consisted of nobody bugging while gawking, a guy put a few ciders on the shelf, and someone checking me out at the checkout. Total wine gets my vote for the premier beer sore in Tampa. The Beverage Castle is 2nd.

Whe I first walked into this store I swear I heard angels sing! It is a downright amazing experience, they have two and a half long aisles of beer! The pricing is mind boggling (very inexpensive), as is their selection. The staff is very knowledgeble and helpful with the beer, wine, and the booze. Did I mention that the prices will amaze and awe you? Every time I set foot in the store, I hear people who are just checking out the store for the first time, and they are on the phone raving to their firends about the prices and selection...
Just go there, you won't be disapointed!
