Stopped by here on a recent trip to Savannah for drinks and dinner. Churchills is a standard interpretation of an English pub/sports bar with a pretty poor beer selection.
The place is pretty big when you factor in the upstairs and basement bars. The main floor has a few tables when you walk in and a long bar on the left hand side. There is a massive big moviescreen-like television broadcasting ESPN. There were a lot of locals hanging out here and the vibe was laid back. As a bonus they have pool tables in the basement if you're into that.
As mentioned above, the beer selection was really weak, consisting of macros, Guinness, psuedo micros like Blue Moon, Stella and one or two locals. They had one selection from Terrapin and one from Sweetwater. Other than that it was pretty bad.
The service was decent but nothing out of the ordinary. The bartender made sure I had a beer and glass of water at all times and seemed friendly enough but was not knowledgeable at all about craft beer.
The quality of the food as the best characteristic of this place. I had some French onion soup which as okay but they had a large selection of appetizers, casual pub fare and higher end entrees.
The only reason I visited this place was because the brewery next door wouldn't serve me food even though I showed up wo hours before closing. I wish I would have just skipped this place and headed to the Distillery.

When I first walked in here, I was greeted with cigarette smoke. I thought smoking was outlawed in places where people frequent? The smoke immediately turned me off but I sat down anyway.
The draft beer selection was very minimal and very typical. Nothing going on selection wise.
Service was very collegiate. I had only two beers but the server was tardy on water service. I know they dont get paid on water service, but they get tipped on water service.
I had the house salad with the house dressing (some kind of pomegranite vinegarette) and it was very subpar. It was branches with raddish, cukes, and chewy tomatoes. The salad dressing was full of vinegar and hardly palatable.
With the brewpub next door, I would chose Moon River over this place any day and all day.

Two sweet things that any visitor to Savannah should know:
1. bars are open until 3am.
2. NO OPEN CONTAINER LAWS SO BARS WILL SELL TO-GO BEERS!
Churchills goes for the British pub feel with a giant wooden bar and a focus on british beer in their bottle and tap selection.
The vibe for me on a Monday night was local hang out meets British pub, not necessarily a really beer-centric/beer bar type of place, but I don't really think that is important.
Guiness and boddingtons make appearances on tap for this reason, but other American craft breweries that included Terrapin Rye Pale Ale and Sweetwater 420 Pale ale. Good but not great selection.
Pretty good service, definitely friendly, not sure if they know their beer or not. A solid little place overall.

when your enter the bar the first thing you notice is the huge dark wood bar, that was imported from europe, probably set the owner back a few hundred thousand. Besides that, your faced with about 25 taps, only 2 or 3 macros, almost all quality american craft, british, and belgian beers. Always have my IPA's and always have my sam smith's. Besides the best craft brew selection in town, the crew of bartenders is very knowledgable, very friendly. Many friends there, i crashed on a few of their couches. Food is good, its typical pub food but quite good. All in all churchill's is a must stop in savannah for any advocate.

This place is definitely worth checking out if your making your way down to Bay Street. They have a good amount of quality draft beers including a dogfish head rotating, dead guy, pilsner urquell, and several more known english beers. The bottle list is pretty extensive with the majority being imports from the UK. The bar is about 40 feet long with a nice backbar featuring full liquor. This is not the place to go if you want to watch a tv (sports). There are two big tvs at the bar but they are positioned weird. I have been told that the food is decent, but i have yet to try any. Last time I stopped in I noticed that there was a sign saying there was a terrace bar which sounds mighty intriguing. Stop by....

Popped in here late one evening while in Savannah last weekend.
A very cool pub! The atmosphere/vibe are awesome. Classic British pub feel in a multi-story bulding, which was cool. Beer selection was pretty good for Savannah, and I recall enjoying my food, though I was not in the best mindset by that point =P
We ate on the roof, which was also cool. Would definitely like to hit this place up again next time I'm in Savannah. This and Moon River (which are next to each other) definitely suprised me with their quality, and I wouldn't have hit them without Beerfly, so if you're reading this and visiting (or planning to visit) Savannah, go hit them up!
Not the cheapest place in the world, but as I remarked in my Moon River review, everything seems a bit more expensive in Savannah. Word up. Check it out!

Stopped into this very mice pub atmosphere for a night cap before heading out of Savannah for the day. Very nice selection of drafts to chose from, around 20 or so. ranging from your typical macros to beers such as the 90 minute, Harpoon IPA, and a nice variety of imports. The keg of the 90 minute ran into some issues during our ordering and the bartender gave a another beer while it was being tended to. Once the problem was fixed, I was given the 90 minute at no charge. Very comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. They were very receptive to offering samples of any beer you asked about and knew their stuff. Would definitely recommend.

This is an obvious stop if you are in Savannah looking for good beer. Just one road over from the river road shops and bars, it is easy to locate. Upon entering you defintely feel the British Pub vibe but in a larger scale. There is a beautiful large wooden bar with plenty of seats. There is an upstair outside deck, but I did not check it out. Plenty of cool art on the wall gives it a funky feel.
There were 24 beers on tap ranging from some macros, some European beers, and some American micros. There is something here for everyone.
The beers we had during our two stops over a two day period were fresh and served promptly despite the crowds. The pints were a bit expensive, but it is probably expected with the prime location.
The wife and I really enjoyed this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cool pub feel.

A great English style pub room. High, tin pressed ceilings. Cool art (Keith Richards is not the coolest...Benny Hill is). Nice long bar with plenty of locals. A fair selection including some Dogfish head products (90 minute hit the spot) and some Lagunitas. All served properly and at the proper temperature. I was taken aback at the prices though...that pint of 90 minute was $6.50 if I remember correctly. I would have to be forced to be content here if I lived in Savannah, especially since - like many southern cities - beer is not their thing.

I was in Savannah recently for work and thanks to Beerfly I knew where to head for some pints.
This is a large multilevel establishment. The main bar is absolutely gorgeous. They also have a smaller bar downstairs in the game room. There is a large dining room and a roof deck. There are blessed with a good location with lots of foot traffic.
The bar has very high ceilings, some nice artwork (I really like the Keith Richards portrait!) and seems well laid out. I was there for happy hour and they had a nice sized crowd. The crowd seemed to have lots of locals.
The bartender was a pro. He was friendly and quick with samples and advice. He told us that they have their lines cleaned twice a week. I believe it as the beers were all in good shape.
Speaking of beer, they have a solid tap selection. Sure there are some BMC options, but this is a tourist town. 25 or so taps, lots of UK options, but some real nice US craft choices. The import bottle list was solid the domestic list not so much so.
I did not try the food, but plenty of folks were there to eat.
I enjoyed my visit to Churchills Pub and Savannah.
