750ml bottle picked up in Cassel en-route to Belgium last summer. Pours a black colour with a beige foamy head. Aromas of caramel & malt. Tastes of smoked malt, chocolate, caramel & coffee. Aftertaste is a mild smoked malt & caramel/chocolate finish. A much better stout than I expected.

Tall thin 33cl bottle, best before 31 Dec 2012, poured into a Westmalle chalice in Oct 2011.
Looked really great (like all beers in a Westmalle chalice): deep, deep depths of darkness a well formed and creamy looking tanned head sat proudly on top.
A French smoked beer of the finest order, the smell was peat bogs and smoked hams rolled in coal, the taste sharp, crisp and smoky, I'm impressed. Two days ago I had a rauchbier from Bamberg, this is different but equally as good if not better in my opinion. Obviously lager/pilsner based, but it hasn't lost the firm, invigorating crispness those smoked brews from Bamberg seem too.
lager like in bodyfeel, but certainly not light or watery, just a little thin for the flavours it imparts.
Different and well made, a pleasant surprise.

Pours opaque basically. Tan head. Nose is mildly smoked, but really void of much else. There just doesn't seem to be anything there. Flavor is smoked like a raunchier just slightly at first. Or so it seems. Also quite a bit of sweetness and fruit. Robust is the key word here. Feel is very full on the carbonation. Really fills the mouth. Liquid is thickly bodied. A good beer. Nice and robust and hearty. Definitely something to seek out if possible.
