Poured a giant 1 liter can into the 1 liter Paulaner krug that came with it. We really need more 1 liter cans.

This beer pours a crystal clear golden straw with a big frothy white head that leaves barley any lacing down the sides of the mug as it recedes. The aroma is grassy hops up front, with a slight toast and just a bit of fresh bread. Very simple and straight forward. Nothing but simple clean aromas. Thats my favorite thing about good lagers. There is no way to hide things, its either there or its not. The flavor is exactly the same with slightly grassy hops and some yeasty biscuits. A slight bit of caramel mixed with toasty bread. Really simple, really straight forward. Great stuff. The mouthfeel is light and slightly creamy, with just a hint of dryness that makes your mouth linger for another sip. Man, this brings me back to Munich. I would rather be sipping on a liter of this in a biergarten then in my living room. i have a feeling ill be giving away a lot of Paulaner 1 liter krugs.

Looks like a good German example of what it is, a big frothy head and a bubbly golden liquid (and in an oversized mug due to this being the anniversary special I poured). Head drops slowly.
Smells nice of pilsner malts. Some graininess.
Plainly refreshing, some zest and mild bread. Somewhat sweet with a dry finish.
Stays carbonated well, feels crisp.
While lacking complex flavors, this Oktoberfest brew was just a highly drinkable brew as far as what you would expect if you were in Germany at the real deal. I kept forgetting this was 6% abv. Kudos for that. I wish i had a brat with this.

This beer is limited in brewing, so if you want it get it when you see it as it can be hard to find. That being said, it pours nicely with a generous head into a beer mug. The foam is plentiful a presents a nice sweet aftertaste to compliment the malty aromas. The beer itself is light and refreshing with more of a hoppy taste than expected from the taste of the foam. Is this a yummy beer? Absolutely, but is this beer super delicious? Not really. It is definitely a good beer, but not an excellent beer one would expect from a pricey limited edition Paulaner. Grab a can if you have not had it, but do not grab more than one.

Pours a clear yellow, almost helles lager color from the 1 litre can into the Masskrug that came with it.

Smell is of light pilsner malt, with a touch of darker malt. Hardly any hops. Faint grain and alcohol.

Tastes more like a Helles lager than an Oktoberfest. I think it is a Helles lager honestly, with perhaps a touch more caramel or munich malt.

Honestly can't believe this is 6% alcohol. It's very water, very thin, but I suppose it's ok. I wouldn't pay the prices they charge for this beer.

This was a Christmas gift from a friend came with large Paulaner stein. Can is 1 Quart,1.82 fl. ounces. Dates on bottom of can are: 05.25.12 and 02.25.13.

Pours a nice clear golden yellow with large white head. Head is not very long lasting, no lacing of glass. Aroma is very faint grassy malt. . Taste is non descript, sweet, boozy. Mildly tingly mouthfeel,

Bought this because of the free glass.

A: A dark golden hue very nice looking brew, a nice two finger head at the top and left a little bit of lacing around the glass.

S: Not to crazy of a nose, a little bit of bicuit and hops and slight hint of lemon zest.

T: Same as the nose, nothing to crazy with the taste, wheaty, and biscuits throughout, and hop presence is there as well.

M: Medium bodied and a good amount of carbonation.

D: Easy drinking beer, very subtle and refreshing but nothing wild on the taste side of things. Glad I got the monstrous glass with it!

Appearance - Your basic medium yellow that is very clear and with a medium head. Not very impressive but still not bad looking

Smell - Hoppy, very light tones of grain and sweetness.

Taste - A very light beer tasting beer with a good medium bitterness but mellow enough to be delicious and drinkable

Mouthfeel - last longs and has great carbonation to keep the good flavor around for several minutes

Overall - a decent drinking beer but I would want a bit more on the appearance and semll

Stein and 1L can gift set from CBX.

A: gold; 3-finger, puffy white head; nice story and info on the can.

S: sweet malt; light bready yeast aroma; sweeter than I expected.

T: sweet malt; light bread crust; not much bitterness - perhaps some dryness on the finish, but barely; quite sweet, but still OK.

M: medium mouthfeel; low carbonation; a touch slick; nothing surprising

O: a nice Oktoberfest beer; perhaps a tad too sweet, but still very drinkable - I can definitely knock out a 1L can of it.

Ein Maß. From the can into the seidel. Finger of head on a cloudy medium straw colored body.
Hay and barnyard smell, in the best way.
Nice grain taste, low bitterness, little honey and smooth.
Crisp texture with moderate carbonation. Clean finish.
Nice flavor and something to drink by the liter.

Poured thh one liter can into the "free" glass that came with beer for a clearish, dark gold beer with voluminous head that left some lace patches down the mug as I drank. Not really a medicinal or aluminum type smell, although the hops take on a distinct earthy and grassy note. Hops are the smell for this beer, although some light citric notes in the hops as well as touches of bready sweet malt make an appearance. Like an good German bier, this brew is light-bodied and easy to drink with the dominant taste being the sharp hoppy bite. The hops are like they smell, earthy and dry, and are balanced not so much from any citric hops (there are some) but also from a moderate usage of bread/barley malts and a touch of sweetness shines through here and there. This easy to drinkness, as it were, makes this not only a good beer to quench your thirst but also easy to keep drinking (which might be the point since it's an Oktoberfest bier). A little pricey but you get a souvenier for your bucks.

Served on tap at Pilsener Haus in Hoboken, NJ

A: Pours a crystal clear medium to deep yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall bright white head that quickly fades to a medium sized patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of grainy malts with some light amounts of sweetness and floral hops.

T: Moderate flavors of bready and grainy malts with some light amounts of sweetness and light to moderate amounts of floral hops which contribute just a touch of bitterness that fades quickly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Well balanced between the sweetness of the malts and the bitterness of the hops making this beer quite easy to drink. Enjoyable.

I had this beer on tap last year and couldn't pass up the big, glorious 1 L can this year. First, don't expect a traditional Oktoberfest/Maerzen. This is more of an amped up Helles, really more akin to what is being served at the real deal in Munich. Pours into 1 L krug a clear goldenrod with a voluminous head of airy froth. Soft, warm cereals matched with a pleasant fresh, grassy hop character - lemon rind, hay, green peppercorn, and meadow grass. Perfectly balanced and meant to be drunk by the liter.

Served perfectly in a litre mug!

Look - poured a deep gold w/perfect creamy 3 finger head. Strong with exellent lacing.

Smell - somewhat bready w/grassy hop character

Taste - follows the smell with a good balanced malty/bready taste and enough hop backbone to make it stand up. Smooth aftertaste with subtle honey note

Feel - carbonated asexpected from Paulaner - plenty of small bubbles but by no means overpowering. Smooth, slightly thin finish but by no means watery.

Overall. Delicious - not perfect but close to what I was anticipating

Poured from a liter size can that came with a liter glass. Poured into a large German liter-size tankard.

Appearance- clear golden pour with a ton of head. I had to let this one settle a few times before pouring the rest into the glass. Huge creamy head. Almost three fingers before it settled down. This looked like a nitro tap, despite being poured from a can. This brew looked almost perfect- like an Oktoberfest advertisement minus the beautiful, buxom server. This is what a beer should look like.

Smell- straw, grass, clover, honey, a hint of lilac, cornflakes, sugary malts. Very faint hops- nothing too strong. Smells great. Fitting for how this beer looks.

Taste- clean, crisp, lightly hopped draw. Apples, honey, frosted flakes, hints of caramelized sugar and orange peel. Sweet and creamy. Finishes very musty and chemical tasting. This may be due to the fact that this was cellared in the can for a year. Perhaps some leaching occurred.

Mouthfeel- smooth and fizzy, slightly creamy texture. Nothing remarkable.

Overall- A great looking, picture perfect example of what "Oktoberfest" imagery conjures up. Unfortunately, the taste let me down a bit. This one was way past the "best by" date, but I optimistically figured I'd give it a go. It wasn't what I had hoped for, but that being said, I hope to try a fresher offering and update this review. This was the first time I have ever had an Oktoberfest Wiesn style, and I do look forward to trying it again.

The beer pours a pale but rich golden hue with a puffy white head. It's quite transparent. Appearance is aided by drinking it out of a Maß. Hard not to enjoy looking at a beautiful liter glass. Aroma is sweet light malt with spicy noble hops. I feel like I should be in a beer hall in Munich. The taste is clean and sweet. There's a decent dose of hops, particularly in the finish. Feel is light and fizzy. The beer is quite refreshing, and this liter is going quickly. A very well made beer that evinces a sure brewing hand and heaps of tradition. That said, it's also rather boring, but that's hardly a fault. All in all, this beer is as German as apfelkuchen.

Had on tap at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati.

Pours a clear gold with a one finger white head. Pretty ordinary looking but nothing really detracts from the appearance.

Aroma of bready grain along with some hay and grassy hops.

Flavor continues with they grain with tons of hay and grass from the hops. There is a touch of caramel but less than some of the other Oktoberfest beers I have had. A little bit of honey too. Finishes on the dry side which greatly increases drinkability.

Overall, probably my favorite Oktoberfest to date. This beer is just made to drink liters and liters of under a tent during Oktoberfest. An extremely tasty and quaffable. beer.

I have had this mighty brew twice, and I'd have to say its a rare gem.

Draught pint in plastic, three finger off white head, moderate carbonation

Smells: Breads, toast, and wet grain

Taste: bread, toasty biscuits, warming malt, with a very dry finish

Mouthfeel: thin, but not watery

Overall, this is a rare gem as stated previously. Grab this beer if you have a chance. But, have it either from the can or on draught,. Brilliant either way!

I picked up an Oktoberfest special from the Cellars in Woodbury, MN. It included a one liter Paulaner mug made by rastal, as well as a one liter can of Oktoberfest Weisn.

Appearance --- honey colored (like a golden yellowish-orange) with a nice two finger white head

Smell --- a bit like bread/grains, and a decent amount of malt

Taste --- can taste some bread and maybe even slight hints of banana, with a grassy finish

Mouth feel --- minimal carbonation, pretty smooth, light to medium bodied, slightly hoppy start to a subtle sweet finish

Overall --- This was the first time I have tried Paulaner’s Oktoberfest Weisn. I enjoyed it quite a bit and would love to see them offer it every September/October as an alternative to their Oktoberfest Marzen. This was a nice, enjoyable beer that is perfect for the fall. I will stock up on this while I can and will have something to look forward to during the cooler fall months. It is definitely worth a try, it is not a very complex beer… but it is the most similar to beers sold at Oktoberfest in Munich and about as close as you can get to being at Oktoberfest in Munich without having to buy a plane ticket :) Prost

One Liter can poured into a massive mug. Thanks to a good friend for granting me this immense brew.

A - An orange inspired hue with an off-white head the length of my index finger. Perhaps I got a bit ambitious with my pour. Big frothy and fair retention.

S - Some caramel, lemon and some malts. Subtle.

T - Bready malts with some sweetness. Nothing really Marzen-like going on here. Some grassy notes to mention, although drinks like a malty lager.

M - Light with moderate carbonation. Slightly creamy, yet thin for the style.

O - This beer is good, not great. Simple and focuses on a few tastes. The other great thing is I could use the mug to take out any intruder that makes their way into my home. Overall, a fine gift!

A disclaimer here: This beer is not a Marzen at all!

Important to note though that true Marzens or Oktoberfests aren't really what is being served in the tents, and this beer is.

Appearance: Brilliant yellow with white head that dissipated quickly leaving nice lacing.

Smell: Not much aroma, just a faint graininess/breadiness from the malt with a touch of hops.

Taste: Malty sweetness that balances well with the hops. Slight metallic taste but not overpowering. Easy to drink.

Mouthfeel: Pretty standard, nice level of carbonation.

Overall: A nice affordable German beer that goes down smoothly, but nothing incredibly unique. Hides the 6.0% ABV well.

1L can dated 5-29-12 into the Paulaner masskrug.

A - Bright yellow gold with a massive white head. Crystal clear. Good lacing. Carbonation appears moderate to high. Can't be any better.

S - Faint grainy malt with slight noble hop aroma.

T - Slightly sweet with a very faint toasted bread note. The finish has the very faintest hint of hop character. A beer it is easy to drink a lot of.

M - Light body with medium carbonation.

O - This is the stuff they drink under a tent in Munich during a festival you may have heard of. Paulaner Original with more aroma hops.

A: Straw yellow, thin short lived bright white head.

S: Nothing.

T: Slightly grainy but crisp pilsner flavour. Metallic flavour is countered by only just enough wheatiness, and there's something going on in the background. Nice lively mouthfeel, light but grainy, and not a tacky lager feel.

O: A chap in another review said he could go either way with this one, and I know what he means. It's metallicy but there's a bit of class going on in the background.

Poured out of a 1L can(canned 5.29.12) into a Paulaner maß. The beer appears a transparent gold with a big frothy white head.

Lots of grassy and earthy noble hop in the nose. Slight touch of grain and sweetness.

Great grassy and earthy hop flavor. Grainy. For how prevalent the hops are there is no bitterness present.

Very drinkable with a medium body, smooth, crisp, and drying.

I got this beer for the first time in the giant can which comes in an even more giant German mug.

Pours very smooth. A very nice golden color with excellent clarity. The head is thick white and sticks around for a bit due to the continuous bubbling in the provided glass.

Not a whole lot for smell. The abundance of malt is very obvious which does excite me for the taste.

Taste is good. Better than good actually... I am usually into a very dry hoppy beer but this guy is way more malt forward than I usually like. I say that because sometimes malty bears are too sweet for me (English Brews). This beer is not sweet. I love it, great taste but the best part is the mouthfeel.

Big thick mouthfeel. Crisp, full and delicious. My favorite part of this awesome beer. I'm a fan.

Overall a pretty darn good beer for casual drinking.

My local store had the 1L can/beer mug combo pack on sale, so I picked one up mainly for the glass. Freshness date best by end of Feb 2012, but I don't mind. Poured into 0.5L mugs to split with my wife. Very light yellow colored body, but a very huge white head and plenty of carbonation. Smell was neutral, which was fine knowing this beer wasn't the freshest. Taste was good. Light malt body with a clean crisp aftertaste. A bit surprised to see the ABV at 6%, so a very easy beer to drink. A fun purchase that was worth it.
