Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into an Erdinger weizen glass.
A: Pours a crystal clear copper with a faint head that quickly turns to lace. This looks like the perfect Oktoberfest.
S: An aroma of alcohol soaked, dried fruit spirals into my nose. There is a definite sweetness from the malt, and the alcohol is noticeable, but the fruit scents add a layer of complexity not found in many American marzens.
T: Tastes like mildly spicy sweet malt. There is some lingering fruit in the aftertaste, like a faint banana or dates, but the taste is super clean. Nice balance with a wash of bitterness in the swallow.
M: Very clean and crisp tasting, and it washes down smooth. The mouthfeel is not as complex as the taste and smell, but it's crisp and light for a fall brew. Alcohol sting takes away very little.
D: It's tasty, looks great and given the season we're in, could be consumed by the keg. (and can, and should, if you have the means)
It became clear to me after having this brew why Paulaner is among the big 3 of German brewers to define the Oktoberfest-Marzen style with this more than appropriate and highly regarded fall offering.

Poured from a bottle into a goblet (kinda wished I'd saved more than two and done the full glass stein, but ah well, I'll save it for Oktoberfest). One to two inch head goes away pretty quickly , leaving the sort of dingy, red-brown ale to stand on it's own.
Smell some candy-like malts and what I can only describe as a Paulaner-funkiness that you also get in the hefe. Faint alcohol, but overall, it's pretty two-note for me. Taste malt and alcohol, maybe a little caramel, and some sort of roastiness; reminds me of fall, and again, Oktoberfest. Mouthfeel is fairly light and refreshing, but malty enough to have some good presence, and leaves a little stickiness on the lips.
Overall, a nice banquet beer, probably better enjoyed in mass quantity from a gigantic glass stein.

This beer is enjoyable. Forgive my lack of a qualitative review of the four senses for this beer, but I am new to being able to describe a beer with a detailed level of description. I will say that having long out grown the introductory light beers that most Americans are experienced with, that this beer is on my list of brews I would not mind picking up again at the store. The after taste is bready and pleasurable. A joy to drink.

A - a very golden yellow color/dark amber with orange hues with an inch or so soapy head
S - grass, floral smell (typical with most lagers); sweet grainy and malty wheat aroma
T - tastes exactly the way it smells with a touch of lemony grassy flavor coupled with a touch of sweetness; not citrusy at all which is common with most lagers. A very well-balanced bitterness and sweetness. Very clean cut taste (very thirst quenching).
M - a very easy and smooth drinking brew session type lager; clean cut feel with light carbonation. Medium body lager
O- a perfectly solid tasting oktoberfest lager; I wouldnt change a single thing about this brew as it is definitely not one to disappoint for lager lovers. This has now become my favorite oktoberfest beer which trumped my once beloved #1 sam adams oktoberfest. Just what you would expect to experience with an exceptional clean cut lager. Best served cold (35 degrees) in a tulip glass.
