A: Poured from a bottle you get a copper/orange color with a thick white head.
S: Great smells of spice, bananas, citrus. Great smell, but could it be as good as it smells???
T: Yes, yes it can. Great flavor. Not overpowering, but full of flavor that matches the smell.
M: Crisp and clean. Bit more carbonation than anticipated, but doesn't distract from the taste.
Overall - great beer and representation of a hefezeizen. I want more.

Poured into a glass from a bottle, this is a cloudy golden color with medium head. Smells of lemon, banana, and cloves. The taste is like liquid banana bread, with some slight spiciness and citrus mixed in. Extremely refreshing and drinkable, this is a great hefeweizen.

.33 L bottle into a 1/2 L weiss glass
A - tawny amber yellows and copper, lively activity with a pillowy head, very little lacing
S - fruity sugars, peach and banana. honey wheat, very light on the hops and clove
T - Mild sweetness with a slight citrus finish
M - light and refreshing, perhaps a tad under-carbonated for a perfect score but no less easy drinking
O - Really great staple of the style would go for this again no problem

From a bottle poured into a Duvel tulip, filled the glass with a murky light amber orange color along with a 1.5" white fluffy head
Smells like delicious yeasty bread with orange/banana and clove.
Tastes spectacular, follows the aroma; warm yeast (bread rising) with orange zest, cloves and a slight banana-esque flavor in the background.
Mouthfeel is creamy smooth, medium bodied, mild dryness at the end that keeps you coming back for more.
Overall really great for the style, great balance, the Germans really understand this style and have done it right for a very long time - highly recommended.

Cloudy golden amber, with a huge frothy head of fine white bubbles. Virtually no lace.
Malty-sweet aroma, with a spicy clove and wheat zing.
Taste is spicy-sweet, with more clove, as well as butter, bubblegum, and a hint of orange at the finish. Quite refreshing, and a perfectly well-done hefeweizen.

It poured a cloudy yellow in color beer. It smelled like bread, wheat, slight banana, hay. It tasted of biscuit, banana, and crisp.
This beer was actually pretty refreshing for a german beer. It was light to medium in body. Overall, a good brew, definitely a go to beer at bars that lack selection.

Best before 9/2012.
Pours a murky honey orange with a 1 inch foamy orange-white head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of wheat, yeast, clove, and banana aromas. Taste is of wheat, yeast, and banana with a clove spice flavor that lingers on the finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good hefeweizen that is very refreshing and easy to drink.

I poured a bottle into a weizen glass.
Appearance- Cloudy golden color with a fingers worth of white head. Patchy amounts of sticky lace.
Smell- Wheat, lemon and clove aromas.
Taste- Banana, clove and malt sweetness up front with faint hints of lemon and yeast at the finish.
Mouthfeel- Medium bodied and very smooth. Light carbonation with a crisp and slighly dry finish.
Overall- Yum. Easy to drink and very enjoyable. I can't wait to have some more of these.

Pours a cloudy, hazy, orangish gold with a thick layer of soft, dense, white head that has great retention. The nose has an intense clove spice aroma with a subtle underlying banana note. The flavor is light, a little sweet, fruity, and finishes with a mild yeasty spice and clove. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, smooth, and well carbonated.
This is an easy drinking, smooth example of the style. Ultimately, though the flavor profile is very light and subtle, though balanced. I wouldn't refuse this in the future.

From a bottle into a German lager glass
Visual (4.5): Nice golden haze, a little on the darker side, with a lasting, pure white, single-finger head of rolling bubbles. Really nice visible carbonation.
Aroma (3.5): Pungent yeast aroma with a nice balance of clove, giving an earthy spiciness to the aroma. There is a touch of citrus, but I think its hard to find.
Taste (3): Light, estery, sweet flavour initially with a kick of spiciness at the swallow. Prominent flavours during the tasting, but very little is left on the pallet afterwards. The wheat is slightly evident in a malt sweetness, but is mostly overpowered by the ester and spice combo.
Mouthfeel (3.5): Light body with a course feel that runs over the pallet. Leaves a dry mouthfeel, common to wheat beers, after the swallow.
Overall (3.5): A good Hefeweizen, but not significantly stand-out. Could have used slightly more complexity in the flavour as the ester sweetness and clove spice were balanced throughout. Appearance and aroma were quite good, touching on all major hallmarks of the style.

500ml bottle, best by 1/13
a: pours a very cloudy pale orange, 2 finger fluffy white head which mostly stays around and produces wonderful retention
s: banana and yeast esters and phenols, strong wheats, some spices of clove and pepper, but not too much.
t: a soft wheatiness, banana and bubble-gum like flavors, not much spice, a nice carbonation level. has an almost chewy quality to it while still remaining extremely smooth and drinkable. i think i could easily drink a couple pints of this and not be tired.
o: one of the best hefes I have had; really enjoyable, with a nice balance of all elements of a hefeweizen.

A: Gold to orange color. Nice 1 finger creamy white pillowy head. No lacing but spots dot the edges sparingly. Hazy.
S: Bavarian yeast, coriander, lemon peel, slight cream and orange.
T: Orange, cream, creamsickle soda, wheat and slight lemon.
M: Thin...waay too thin for a hefe. Sweet all the way through.
O: This is an average hefe. It's so hard to succeed in this category because there are two world class brands that make a much better heff/weissbier. I'll stick with Weinhenstephaner and Franziskaner.

0.5L bottle served into the Paulaner Weissbier glass.
I love the looks: a consistent white head that settles to a thin lace and a yellow murky body.
The smell of fruit is always present in these beers, quite pleasant.
The taste is memorable too: fruity and also a hit of yeastiness. The mouthfeel is well rounded with not as much carbonation as I was expecting but that is okay with me.
An easy to find beer in some bars of Madrid, and I enjoy it every time.

I bought this bottled beer often from the BevMo chain throughout southern California. One of the early hefes in my experience, purchased using the rating system at the store. Luckily, it turned out to be one of the best beers i've ever had, and one that I will be an advocate of for the rest of my life. A beautiful white head on this fruity hefe that produces some of the most pleasant citric notes of any beer I know. The mouthfeel on this brew is also amazingly round and filling for a hefe. Instead of losing its head and going down a bit watery like some others, this Paulaner keeps its form and hits all areas of the palate with its relatively thick body. Definitely try this if you haven't as a wonderful introduction to hefes!

Good hazy and golden appearance, pristine white head on top, 1" in depth. Nice bready lemony aroma, nothing spectacular, spot on for style really.
Taste, white winter wheat type flavors, soft, bready, a little bit of spice flavor that I could do without, clove lite, plenty of banana and a bit of metallic sourness. Mouthfeel ok, the beer frankly gets a little tiresome, yeah its a pretty traditional interpretation of the style, but it just doesn't excite me, so if you're a wheat or hefe fanatic, don't let my review persuade you to one side of the aisle over another. I found this beer to be decent, slightly expensive, and for maximum interest, to drink less than 8oz of it at a time, anything more, and the novelty fades, the experience became more humdrum.

The Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier is a German wheat beer brewed with 60% wheat and 40% malt.
It has a crisp light taste, fruity aroma (hint of citrus) and a very clean finish. This coupled with higher carbonation than some other hefe-weizen beers makes the Paulaner a refreshing choice. This brew has a wonderfully light orange colour that is uniform throughout, with no visible sediment on the pour and a stable head. It has a slightly metallic taste characteristic of a lager, but the taste does not linger. It tends to be thin in texture. The Paulaner would be excellent to drink on a hot summer's day, rather than as a featured winter seasonal beer in an upscale restaurant. The texture, taste, and complexity this beer presents to the palate is less enveloping than higher alcohol content, darker hefe-weizen beer. In that sense, it is "low maintenance" and "easy drinking".
The Paulaner has less of a hoppy taste than say, Hacker-pschorr Hefe Weisse, but is highly palatable and easy to enjoy. Overall, as a fan of hefe-weizen beer, I think this specimen represents a solid staple in the beer fridge.
I wrote this review as I drank the beer. Thanks for reading!

16.9 oz bottle with a best before 7/12 no bottling date. poured into duvel tulip
A - dark orange body with fluffy white head finger thick that has some lacing and good retention.
S - big notes of wheat, banana, clove and lemon zest.
T - clove, banana, wheat. some medicinal notes and spice pop up in the back.
M - medium bodied with lots of carbonation. some tartness felt on the side of the tongue. very very dry.
O - this is not a style that is a particular favorite of mine but this definitely is a great version. if you are a hefe fan a must try.

This is one of my favorite beers. It's a great starter and a great finisher. I have found this one all over the place so it should be easy enough to find for anyone that has never been able to try it.
I'm not the best at rating so I'll just say that it's a cloudy golden, crisp beer that tastes great on the palate. Please try this if you haven't.

This is my first ever beer review and I'm not quite au fait with the techno babble just yet, so apologies for that, but I know how to enjoy the stuff and my thoughts should have some worth.
A: A massive head of foam. The beer itself is a cloudy golden colour.
S: Sniffing from the bottle I'm getting banana.
T: Poured into a Pilsner glass. First sip very underwhelming. No impact at all. Nice but very muted flavour. Not bitter enough by half, even for a Weissbier. Gets better after a few sips although banana is the only really discernible flavour, and maybe cloves too.
O: Twenty minutes on from finishing the bottle and I have no aftertaste whatsoever. It's hard to believe 330ml of beer just washed over my tongue. Still a nice beer but I feel the flavours are muted to a fault.

Pours out a cloudy orange with a massive foamy head. Retention is near perfect with lacing around the glass.
The aroma is full of lemon zest, cloves, and some banana. Some grassy grain, soft bread malt, and mild hop bitterness.
The taste emulates the aroma. The only thing different is the characteristics are stronger.
Light bodied and soft. Very easy to drink and full of classic flavor! If you see it! grab it!

Poured from brown bottle to a weizen.
A - The beer pouts a copper/amber color. Perfectly clear. Nice 1.5 finger white bubbly head. Good retention and thick lacing.
S - True to style with a hint of clove and fruity lemony character, yeast provides a nice balance on the nose a hint of spice.
T/M - Fruity from the get go with tones of banana and clove. A nice solid malt backbone with medium body. Very smooth. Moderately carbonated. Clove flavors intensify near the end. Mild bitterness.
O - Good representation of the style. I am not a huge Hefeweizen fan but this is a solid beer.

Poured a hazy orange/gold color from a 11.2 oz bottle, with ABV and 'best-by' date clearly marked on the label.
Towering head that does not want to go anywhere. Dissipates very slowly and leaves behind some really nice lace.
Aroma is a wonderful blend of fruity esters, banana being the prominent one with hints of clove, some sweetness and spice.
Taste compliments the aroma perfectly. All the aroma components make their presence felt on the tongue. This is just a delicious brew; crisp, clean and easy to drink. Perfect for a hot, summer day. Great drinkability and mouthfeel.
One of the best hefe's out there, and a must-try for anyone who enjoys a good hefe.
Highly recommended.
