I really love this place. I fear that because one particular store on BA did SO well it will be hard for other places to score as highly because it was just that good. I won't mention it here but suffice to say this is a GREAT place to get some beer in Denver.
This place advertises 700+ beers on their front window and it was easy to get to.
Quality: What they have is pretty awesome. I like the fact that the first coolers you come to are craft beer, Belgians, and rares. The BMC stuff is kept at the very back coolers. This is obviously a beer lover's shop. Not a huge place, but again the quality is there.
Service: I was approached quickly, helped efficiently, shown to the back when I admitted I was a beer nerd, and allowed to buy as much rare beer as they had and I wanted. I wouldn't have minded a bit more help or talking about the beer more, but it was very solid service and fast.
Selection: Again, because I've seen how truly exceptional a beer store can be, this one rates very well but not the best I have seen. It by far beats most stuff in Dallas, but for a Denver store I think they could have more. All the stuff I wanted though they had. Lost Abbey, Russian River, Pliny the Elder less than 4 weeks old, Boulevard Saison Brett, Deschutes Mirror Mirror, tons of Belgians. A great selection for sure.
Value: No discount mentioned or given for BA's which immediately for me knocks it up a notch, but it wasn't outrageous. I just think some of the items were priced maybe a bit higher than they should have been. I would shop here again though, but probably would have spent more if the prices were lower.

This place is the best to buy all kinds of beer. I have not gone in here and walked out empty handed. The cashiers are super awesome and friendly. The walk-in part of the cooler has the prime selection. If you shop somewhere else, you're a pretty big full.

Being from California, I've taken for granted where we can purchase beer. I had forgetten that Colorado has some restrictions in regard to grocery stores. When Sergio found a Whole Foods (again, not my idea), he thought we could get some bottles to drink at the hotel. Only problem was the bottles here were filled with non-alcoholic beverages. So, back to the car, STOP! Let's go acorss the street to Colorado Liquor Mart.
Good floor space holding a bunch of liquids, small carts available to push by the enterence. Despite all the room, the beer space seemed relatively small. Until you discover that you can walk into the cooler. Nearly all the beer is refrigerated, and the beers I spotted were still within their freshness period. Many of the bottles are priced, a few of the smaller ones unpriced but marked on their bottlecap a sticker (for mix-6ers). Both the American and Brazilian parties involved were impressed with what we could pruchase: Odell, Boulevard, Shipyard, Santa Fe, Upslope, Lindeman's, Port, Russian River, Wynkoop. And at fair prices too.
At checkout, I was informed that with the 5 small format beers I purchased, it would be the same price to get another one. Hooray, another tick!
Perhaps the biggest weakness is the lack of beer glassware. Extremely limited, and to tumbler pints (who want to taste out of those?), so we settled for some plastic wine cups. Hey, it's better that using those cups provided by the hotel.
Although the only store I visited, it should provide many goodies for both natives and visitors alike.

From the outside, it looks like a Jiffy Lube. Way on, I believe the southside of town, we were a little iffy about going all the way out there (we were by Coors Field). Parking was easy.
Quality was good, I purchased all 750's and bombers here, the six pack selection, while vast, just seemed to be a little less diverse and priced slightly higher than Argonaut. If you like all your beer refrigerated, this is your place, its all there, and don't forget to walk back into the cooler (that's where the Russian River is, if its there).
Service was excellent, dude pulls us out of towners aside and says he just got a case of Tart of Darkness (one of my all time favorite beers). I grabbed two bottles, other employee says one bottle limit, I'm cool with it, that is, until I watch one guy buy the entire stock (over a case) of Consecration, and nobody says anything. . . so I dunno how it makes sense, but not a big deal.
I think this place is worthy of a drive across town, my brother, koufax21 was hesitant at first, but pleasantly surprised to score more tart of darkness. Lighting is good, organization decent.

I can't tell you how many times I drove past this place before I made it inside. Very accessible right off Colorado Blvd by King Soopers. It can be a bit tough to get into at the light due to the grocery store but easy if you take the next turn south on Colorado. For the size a pretty solid beer selection. Nice collection of bombers and singles. The guys who work there are extremely helpful. A couple are beer dorks just like me so it's easy to get stuck in there for a while. They have gone out of their way to help. If they get something rarer in they typically update the dry erase board up front to save time. Prices are in line with what you would expect elsewhere. Nice little shop.

Re-reviewing this as it's been a few years since my prior review. Unfortunately, CLM has gone down hill a bit. The service is hit-or-miss, with occasional situations where the employees are clearly uninformed about the beers they offer. For example, I was once encouraged by a CLM employee to purchase a "Great Divide La Folie." Selection is decent, though I personally find there to be too much emphasis on mediocre Colorado micros.
Overall, I find CLM to be a bland liquor store that probably would not exist if not for Colorado's protectionist laws designed to restrain competition.
I'd suggest avoiding CLM and steering toward one of my two favorite places - Mondo Vino and Mile High Wine & Spirits - instead. Great atmospheres, great service, and great selection.

First stop on my hunt through Denver for things i cannot get back home. Mom and pop feel which I like. I was almost immediately approached by a very helpful employee. He walked me through case by case with all of his recommendations which I lead him down my hop head ways. Make sure to ask whats behind the coolers and they will literally walk you into their stocked walk-in. Few things there that are not on the shelf. Was about to check out and remembered to ask about the infamous 120 min. This guy cracks the biggest smile and reveals that they received some just the day before. I asked why he did not mention that on my tour of beers and he replied "For those who know only". This place immediately earned my respect with that. Limit was 1 bottle per customer, but I walked out the door with a smile on my face and will make sure to come back every visit to Denver.

Stopped in here on my trip to Denver trying to get some beers to send home.
This place has a small mom and pop feel to it with a good selection on various alcoholic beverages. The cashier was very helpful and we talked for a few minutes about shipping beer back home.
They have a very good selection of a wide variety of styles and breweries and everything was fresh. I was able to pick up a few Sam Adams Barrel Room beers, some Ska, DFH WWS, etc. to send home.
I was also able to get a few loose 12 oz. beers from their mixed 6 section (bonus points) that I didn't want to get an entire 6 pack of.
Prices are reasonable for the beers that I saw.
Overall, this is one of 2 beer stores I actually visited (the other was Argonaut) and this one is the better store in my opinion.

This is basically a decent sized liquor store that has a nice beer section in the back right corner of the store. Five or six coolers of bombers, a walk in cooler of other harder to find beers and a decent selection of local four and six packs.
The guys who worked there were very helpful, answering all of my annoying questions.
The selection is decent but nothing is available room temp. Not that big of a deal but would have been nice. Good selection of Boulevard Smokestack Series, Odells, Avery, Uinta 750s(!), as well as some Belgians(Hannssens Oude Kriek), Japanese and German beers. I was able to find a Woodcut #3 for $20.99 which was a very nice find.
Overall a pretty cool place. Small but good selection. Nothing too rare but a nice selection for someone from out of town.

A decent beer store in most cities I have ever visited, though abit disapointing for a city the size of Denver. Still, likely 300 or more beers to choose from. The best selection were the Sam adams new series. Mixed six packs, and the availability of some Russian Rivers and several Port Brewing/Lot abbey were pluses. Decent though not exceptional Belgians and import selection. Not much in service. The best is their good selection of smaller Colorado breweries. Prices were a bit higher than expected for a bottle store.
