A new bottling by Dry Dock. They have dropped the name to just "Wee Heavy" but it does say they won Silver at Wold Beer Cup 2010 in Scotch Ale category.
A - Very dark amber body. Medium cappuccino colored head.
S - Mmmmm, sweet candies with dark fruits. Prunes, currents, and brown sugar. Some sharp alcohol on the top.
T - Taste of currents and dried, candied plums. Very dark notes. milk chocolate with some slight bitterness. There is definitely some alcohol here. Catches you in the back of the mouth like a scotch but the flavor of scotch is weak and just right.
M - Very nice carbonation and balance. More carbonated than most scotch ales/wee heavy, but it works for this beer.
O - As it warms, the alcohol comes forward more and the mouthfeel weakens. I don't know what age would do to this, but could definitely see this getting better. Just tastes a little young right now.

Bomber served chilled in an imperial pint glass.
Dry Dock's Wee Heavy is a winter seasonal. It has a slightly hazy dark brown color with thin tight head. It also leaves some good lacing behind.
Aroma is sweet and malty with a spicy, slightly earthy character.
Flavor is bold and rich with a chocolate, toffee, and slightly smokey malt body. It's nicely balanced with some spicy English hops.
Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied and perfectly carbonated. It's so creamy and smooth, a really enjoyable ale.
Overall an excellent version of the style and perfect for the cold winter months ahead.

Enjoyed a 1 Pint 9.4 Fl Oz. bottle of this w/ CurtisMcArthur in Nashville, TN. Poured from the Grey/Yellow colored bottle w/ ships and a castle on it into a 12oz Jackie O's Snifter Glass. Has no freshness/bottle date on the
Aroma- Has an excellent caramel and malty aroma. Tons of sweetness and a small amount of the peaty characteristic I'm always looking for in this. Awesome! Can't get any better.
Appearance- Pours a less then .5 finger head. Has a caramel/dark brown colored body. Leaves light suds behind.
Flavor- Very sweet, caramel notes from the beginning with the perfect scotch ale background. Very rich and malty. Light bitterness at the finish.
Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied but thin, High Carbonation, Malty, Sweet, and a light amount of strong alcohol.
Overall Impression- The BEST wee heavy beer I've had yet! The richness and caramel character was great with the peaty ending. I HIGHLY recommend picking this up, at any cost. I'll be enjoying this very soon again.

Poured in to a tulip. Dense, tan head about 1 finger thick. Very creamy looking. Dark brown body, light haze, with some notes of ruby.
Aroma was very malty and sweet. Brown sugar and molasses aroma. A bit of clove and phenolic aromas. Some chocolate with earthy and floral hop aroma.
Taste was creamy and thick. Very much a scotch ale. Lots of brown sugar and molasses. Full malty sweet body. Notes of banana and clove. Malt notes of chocolate and light roast. Dark fruit flavors with a herbal, spicey and floral hop flavor. Light bitterness helps cut the sweetness in the finish. Mild signs of the high ABV.
Mouthfeel was creamy, medium/heavy body. Medium/low carbonation with a slightly sticky finish.
Overall this is a very enjoyable scotch ale. Not one of my favorite styles, but when done right, like this one, its a great drink.

Bottle reads "Dry Dock Wee Heavy" though based on other reviews I believe this is one and the same as 3 Heavy Scottish Wee Heavy. Poured from bottle to goblet the beer pours a rich deep brown color with mahogany amber edges when held to light. Small 1/4 finger white head with some retention and no lacing. The nose is sweet with strong caramel malt character, a hint of alcohol heat, and perhaps a tinge of earthy hop character, though mostly sweet. Similarly the flavor starts with a thick rich caramel malt sweetness that lasts throughout the beer. A medium bitterness couples with a earthy character is provided by the hops as found in the nose. Hints of toffee, roast, and coffee as well. Surprisingly there is no alcohol heat at all. Very smooth and creamy and rich. Full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, this was very good. I had been warned the bite was a little much when I purchased so aging for 6 months in the cellar really toned down the sharp alcohol flavors. Probably the most approachable Wee Heavy I've had to date. Treat.

Appearance- gorgeous pour from bomber to glass. Copper/red/brown in color and cloudy. 2-finger head that dissipates rapidly to about half-finger. Moderate lacing
Smell- Belgian-quad-like. Spices. Hint of banana. Brown sugar and maple.
Taste-- Dark fruits, fig. Tangy finish. As it warms, it gets more and more like root beer. Very drinkable.
MF-- Medium to heavyish body. Smooth.
Overall- Really good! I've been to Dry Dock once and hadn't tried them much over the past year. This makes me want to head back over to the tasting room and see what else they've got.
