Poured from a Bomber into a pint glass. Orange color with slight haze. Little head that dissipates quickly.
Full malt flavor with very well balanced hop flavor.
Will definitely have again. Will have to make my way to Aurora to try some more of their beers.

poured from bomber into a snifter.
Pours a nice hazy light orange color, small head, which fades rather quickly.
S: Pine & grapefruit w/ just a touch of booze
T: follows the nose, good citrus flavor - pineapple and orange, with just a hint of bread. Finishes dry and a bit woody, but the flavors are well balanced and tasty.
Medium bodied with less carbonation than I'd expect, but still has great balance
Very drinkable and smooth. I really like this one.

Thanks to boatshoes for another beer I've never heard of. This one turned out to be quite the pleasant surprise.
Appearance
The color is very nice. Its a deeply hazed, glowing orange. The head retention is very strong and lacing is more than you could ask for.
Aroma
Very citrusy, and thats how I like it. Lots of orange, tangerine, pineapple with a squirt of lime. Aside from the citrus onslaught, there is a healthy dose of pine and fresh cut grass.
Taste
The taste is good, but its weaker in intensity that the aroma. It retains lots of the citrus qualities that are some prevalent in the aroma. The toasty malts are allowed to show themselves more. Lots of sweet, candied orange and a hint of alcohol.
Mouthfeel
Full-medium body. Despite the head retention, this beer is softly carbonated. It comes together to create a slower, almost syrupy feel. The finish dries out a little bit.
Overall
A very nice surprise. Everything is in order here. The taste could use a push in intensity, but thats nit picking.

Thanks to drumrboy22 for this growler!
A: Very hazed out pastel orange-yellow in color. Forms a nice 1/2" of stable, soapy white head, with excellent retention and lacing.
S: Hugely fragrant with notes of citrus, orange, grapefruit, all intermixed with a little pine.
T&M: Lightly sweet pale malt base with a very thick, sticky, and viscous mouthfeel. Citrus, orange, and pine. Strong bitterness on the finish. Medium in weight with appropriate carbonation, but the sticky mouthfeel is just too much.
O: A solid DIPA from a brewery I've never heard of. It really is a gift to find these under-appreciated beers from some of the smaller, lesser known breweries.

a-Really pretty beer, orange with a lot of haze in it. Nice white head with some great lacing.
s-Pine resin and hops. The nose is strong, and pleasing, but does not have a lot of the tropical fruits that I have really come to enjoy out of a DIPA.
t-Follows the nose. Good bitterness in the hops and a lot of pine in the taste. Finishes for a while with lingering hops and bitterness. I like that a lot, and wish nore big DIPA's would finish bigger and longer.
m-coating the palate. Carbonation is right on for this beer.
o-I really like this beer, but wish it had a little more malt to it. I do dig the the big hops on this beer and would really like to have this at the source compleatly fresh.
Well done!

Thanks to JCDenver for this nice extra.
Appearance. Slightly hazy gold with half a finger of sticky, off-white head that leaves some nice lacing.
Smell. Grassy, piney hops and honey. A little toasty grain.
Taste. Honey, floral-grassy hops, thick toasty grains, a little woody pine and yellow grapefruit rind.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with medium-low carbonation. A little bit syrupy.
Overall. A nice dipa. A little sweet and thick, but tastes great.

Pours a solid orange with white head, a bit cloudy.
Smells of piney hops, some sweetness but not much. Good hop aroma.
Tastes like sweet, piney hops with some lingering bitterness...pretty smooth overall.
Great mouthfeel, full body, not quite chewy, still it doesn't feel heavy.
This is one of the best beers I've had in the style. My personal preference and taste make this one a few steps away from a favorite. Still, I'm impressed.

22oz into a pint
A - Pours a bright orange to golden color. Somewhat hazy, lightly opaque. Lots of bubbling, appears highly carbonated. Head formation is strong, pearly white.
S - Incredibly strong hop aroma, extremely piney, resinous, fresh hops, almost stingy. Citrus and grapefruit in the background making it not overly mean to the nose.
T - Starts off extremely hoppy, lots of pine and resin. Some grapefruit in the background. Grapefruit shows a little, as well as just a little bit of nutty/caramel malts. Finishes with the strongest bitterness, sticking to the tongue. No alcohol warmth.
M - Moderate mouthfeel, full bodied and balanced with carbonation. Finishes with a very oily.
D/O - A very full flavored DIPA, lots of good in your face hopping. Alcohol is well hidden, but sneaks up on you. Able to bring in all the hoppy attributes without getting too dry.
In this category, I would have a very tough time picking this beer or pliny.

pours a clear amber with minimal white head which settles quickly and leaves no lacing.
smell: tart ethanol upfront, acidic citrus hops and a resonous finish.
taste: hop oil, that is closer to a green apple flavor. followed by a candy citrus kick. alcohol is very obvious still.
mouthfeel: goes down oily, but leaves a salivation that dries and makes the mouth sticky.

On tap at Falling Rock (now known as Dry Dock's Double IPA, according to their tap list)
Appearance: Arrives at the bar with a cloudy amber color and an inch of head that streaks lacing down the side of the pint glass
Smell: Sugar coated grapefruit with additional tropical fruit character
Taste: Opens with a biscuity malt flavor that is followed by a blast of sugar-coated grapefruit; by mid-palate, the tropical fruits add a new dimension that has a lot of pineapple to it; after the swallow, there is quite a bit of residual sugar in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A very nice DIPA but I recommend that this be consumed when fresh as when the hops fade, the beer becomes very sweet, as other reviewers have noted

Big thanks to Popkas for sending this bottle out my way. Served in a Captain Lawrence tulip.
Pours a nice orange color with a pretty hefty white head that stuck around for quite a bit before falling and leaving some sticky lacing behind. The nose was mostly floral with a bit of citrus creeping in. Hops, that is. Mild malt character in the background. The flavor was pretty similar. The floral hop notes tended to dominate with a bit of orange rind in the background. I'll same marmalade; I know some people like those descriptive terms. Body was light to medium with a really nice dry, bitter finish. A good beer that I'd certainly have again.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike!
The beer is orange and slightly hazy, with a decent sized white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing on the tulip glass. Aromas include hops, dry citrus and floral scents. The taste is slightly sweet, with a dank hop presence. Alcohol presence is disguised very well. The finish is not as dry or bitter as is customary in a DIPA. Overall, a pretty tasty brew, and one I would have again.

Poured into tulip.
A: Pours a beautiful opaque orange with a finger or rocky head that dissipates to a thin lace around the glass after a few moments.
S: The hops hit your nose like an explosion. Reminds me of the first time I smelt Pliny or Maharaja. Smells very west coast, picking up a lot of pine accompanied by citrus, grapefruit and tropical fruit notes.
T: Mmm, not quite a hop bomb like I was expecting, although due to this am pleasantly surprised, this beer has balance! Grapefruit and fresh pine on the front with a touch of malt on the back that allows this one to finish nicely and for quite some time.
M: Nice amount of carbonation, which for this style in my opinion is not a lot. Doesn't coat the mouth as many DIPA's have a tendency to do.
O: Overall this is a great DIPA and I consider myself to be quite picky with DIPA's. Going to have to go pick up a growler one of these nights and try it completely fresh!

A: Hazy orange/amber color. Poured a 2 finger off-white head with good retention to a half finger. Laced in broken, wide rings.
S: Grapefruit, citrus and pine standout, but there a lot going on in the nose. Also some tropical fruit and spice. Not much malt character.
T: Consistent with the nose. Biscuity malt more prominent, but transitions to resiny hops quickly. Moderately bitter with warming alcohol in the finish.
M: Medium body; slightly creamy. Moderate carbonation. Lots of resiny hops and moderate bitter with some alcohol burn.
D: ABV keeps in from being too sessionable. Very interesting hop character adds complexity.

a: served in a wide snifter, the beer is a hazy, dark honey amber in color with a lightly retained layer of carbonation
s: sweet base of grainy caramel, lots of muddled, oxidized citrus hops, various other tropicals, grapefruit in particular, the hops are there in decent measure - but they're not particularly "fresh", mild alcohol note
m: carbonation light-moderate, body around medium
t: more sweet caramel malt, sort of a rustic grainy flavor, fairly simple flavor profile, muddled juicy citrus, grapefruit rind, bitter but not incredibly so
o: a decent dipa, but rough around the edges, the hops don't have any bright freshness, and the malt sweetness seems unbalanced

Thanks go out to Tolann for providing this bottle. Seven Seas is a DIPA made with 100 percent Simpson's Golden Promise malt and seven different hops, all of them "C" hops: Chinook, Cascade, Columbus, Centennial, Crystal, Challenger and Citra.
Dark and cloudy tangerine, topped with a half-finger head of cappuccino foam-colored bubbles. They recede quickly, leaving tiny spatters of lace.
Nicely tropical in the nose. Mint and basil, orange liqueur, grapefruit peel and, interestingly, coconut. Also, saltines and honey. Mighty fine.
The flavor is very similar to the nose: light basil, grapefruit, pineapple, biscuits and a bit of alcohol. Moderate bitterness grips the sides of the tongue. The swallow is interesting -- it seems drying, but a sweetness slowly rises after the beer's long gone.
Medium, lightly creamy body. Moderate, prickly carbonation peppers the tongue as the silky brew moves about. Some alcohol comes through the nose.
Overall, a very nice DIPA. It's not as intensely hoppy as many others of the style, but the bitter blend is sweet and complex, while the beer itself isn't overly heavy. Solid.

Bottle provided by Alex, drank from a perfect pint glass... A medium clear copper with off white head. Quick riser in this glass but falls to fast to thin cap, ok lacing... The taste and aroma on this are both slightly above average dipa. There is nothing special about this except its very crushable at 9%, don't taste any of the alcohol. Notes of grapefruit, a little dank, and some pine. Not bad at, just nothing crazy.
I'd drink this again but I wouldn't trade for it.

Thanks to belgbeerdrinker for this one. Served in a Bruery tulip.
A - Pours with a finger-plus of white foam that settles to a thin cap, leaving behind splotchy lacework. Transparent bronze body.
S - Even though this is made with seven C-hops, the Chinook seem to have been victorious. Loads of mossy pine, a hint of cat pee, and some light orange citrus in the periphery (I guess some Cascade and Citra survived the beatdown). Minimal malt character, with only a hint of sugar cookie. Other reviews seem to characterize this beer differently - perhaps the various hop contributions to the aroma degrade at different rates?
T - Taste has more malt balance, with some toffee, lightly caramelized sugar, and sugar cookie sweetness. Again, it's heavy on pine, with notes of grapefruit and a nebulous herbal quality. Moderate lingering bitterness.
M - Medium body, smooth texture, medium carbonation, well-hidden alcohol, and a surprisingly clean finish with only a bit of oiliness. There's a bit of chalky bitterness when it warms, but otherwise it's solid.
D - Well, it was the best beer of the night, but our field was pretty horrendous. At least we finished this one. I'd drink it again for sure, especially on-tap, but I wouldn't seek it out specifically.

A - Finger of white foam with a bit of lace. Faded to a thin cap with a transparent bronze body.
S - Smell is some sort mix between cat piss and woody pinecones. Very fresh hop profile, quite green, almost wondered if it was wet hopped. There's a lot going on there, and it's not bad.
T - Hop heavy, not particularly malt forward. Bitter, but not a lot of pine or citrus going on there. Very faint floral notes, and some strong resin taste. This is a nice tasting DIPA, with some stronger flavors.
M - Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. A bit oily.
D - Pretty well drinkable at the 9.5% it says on the bottle. I like this decently enough, would drink again, but not necesssarily seek it out.

Big thanks to a co-worker from Denver for sending me this beer.
Even with an aggressive pour that is only a finger of soapy/sudsy head that forms here. You can see there is less carbonation here. Clear golden amber colored beer. Some sudsy lacing does remain.
Aroma is slight citrus with a noticeable sweetness and a slight touch of toasted malt.
Flavor is even nicer than the aroma led on. Very fruity DPA with tropical fruit and even a moment of coconut. Grapefruit and citrus present. Pretty well balanced and no noticeable alcohol. At the finish there is a touch of yeast. Looks like the Citra hop strikes again with that great tropical flavor. Juicy green hop flavor is quite evident.
Mouth feel is almost cask like. Carbonation is certainly conservative and it really drinks like a fresh drawn pint from the tap.
Really enjoying the beer. Nicely done!!

Purchased from The Wine Underground.
No dating to be found and I have to say, the bottle wasn't filled as well as it could have been.
It pours a hazy peach colour with a 1 finger head of foam and has some very nice lacing.
Big hoppiness in the smell. No wonder, the 7 C's are all here. Grapefruit stands out the most though I can pick up some pine and some tropical fruit. A bit of sweetness shines through so the Malt isn't completely forgotten. A very nice aroma, a very nice fresh aroma.
The taste, again, is dominated by grapefruit with a nice tropical fruitiness, caramel and bready malts, really bitter at times then tempered by the malt. The finish leans towards the bitter side and gives me a long pleasing aftertaste. A good taster(I loved the smell) and the ample alcohol is hidden rather well.
Pretty big bodied with a lightish level of carbonation, it has a great mouth feel.
Drinkability is just fine taking small but frequent sips but I wouldn't want to tackle a second bottle back to back.
I think this is a fine effort by Dry Dock and I'll look forward to trying anything they put out in bottles if I can.

This bomber was received as an extra in a trade with jmkratt. I love getting stuff I've never seen before. Thanks John! This DIPA boasts no fewer than seven types of hops, 9% ABV and 86 IBUs. With those numbers I'm expecting something big with a malty backbone to balance to all those hops. This was poured into a wine goblet. There was no bottle dating.
A fairly aggressive pour yields less than a half finger of head that rapidly dissipates. The brew is a hazy amber hue that is spot-on for the style. Lacing is spotty. I could wish for a more impressive head, but then I remind myself of the alcohol content.
Is this Pliny the Elder that I smell? No seriously, this is a great smelling DIPA. It is very fruity in the nose, exhibiting the sweet aromas of star fruit, orange and grapefruit. Behind the fruit basket lurks a little spruce note. Alcohol is surprisingly subtle in the nose for a 9% beer.
Though not a perfect clone, the flavor profile of this beer also closely resembles Pliny. I realize I should be reviewing this beer on its own merits, but it's so similar to the legendary Elder that I have to make mention of it. Not surprisingly, hops hit the palate right away. Pine resin reaches the tongue first. There's a great malty sweetness that comes together with some citrus hop notes, creating the impression of orange. The sweetness on the front end deceives me into thinking I will escape the bitterness. Then grapefruit comes on strong in the finish as hop oils coat the mouth and tongue and linger for-e-ver. Alcohol goes pretty much unnoticed.
The mouthfeel is incredible. This beer is heavy bodied, with a sizable malt backbone. Carbonation is mild, but perfectly to style. The alcohol aids in creating a velvety texture that's warm in the mouth and goes smoothly down the hatch.
Drinkability pluses: this beer has a complex yet accessible flavor profile and feels great in the mouth. Drinkability minuses: 9% ABV, and oh my goodness, make this grapefruit bitterness stop! A whole bomber is too intense! The plusses outweigh the minuses though, and I have a feeling that I will be in the penalty box after I finish this thing off. This beer is very well executed.

Schlitz who? I'd be an idiot not to give two for this incredible DIPA!

Got this from epic Beertrader Bitterbill, cheers again Bill!
Pours a semi hazed apricot with a finger of ivory colored head. Clears eventually, average head retention & a bit of lacing, the only real weakness of this beer
S: Pine & grapefruit, some woody hops as this warms
T: follows the nose, plus some great pineapple presence up front, with just a hint of breadyness. Grapefruit & dryness dominate as this warms, a touch of toffee lurks in the background, plus the sweet pineapple. Finishes dry, grapefruitty with more woody hops & lovely pineapple sweetness
Medium bodied with subdued carbonation, great balance
Super drinkabilty, ABV is well concealed. I must visit these guys the next time I go to CO!

Consumed during Hobo Tasting #4 with mikesgroove (as always) at RJ Rockers Brewery during a Thursday Taste & Tour session. Massive thanks goes out to jmkratt for sending me this bottle! Served from bottle into a Duvel tulip. Poured yellow-orange (more orange than yellow) with a one finger bone white head that subsided to a half finger fairly quickly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, citrus, slight citrus hop, and fruit. The flavor was of sweet malt, citrus, caramel, citrus hop, and slight peaches. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew, but wasn't very memorable. Just lacked in the robust citrus flavors I was hoping for on this one. No date on the bottle, so no idea how old it was. With that said though, the flavor that was there was quite well balanced and good. The aroma was quite lacking in intensity though as Mike had to get some of the nose out of my tulip as it was hard to pick up stuff out of his glass. With all that said though, this one is still a must try for any IPA fan out there.

and another hobo tasting bites the dust. this time we went with all the dipa's and had some fun with it. served into a pint glass and shared at the rockers brewery.
the pour was quite nice with a good and solid amber color and a decent amount of haze and cloudiness to the profile. a thin head of white rose up and hung for a few moments before settling back down to earth. where did the smell go? as i search for hops i find sweet malts, hints of apples and peaches and light notes of pine as it warms, but definitely muted. flavor is more of the same as the malts seem to outshine any of the huge hop notes that could have been present. medium body with a touch of weight to it provides a clean and coating feeling. abv is no where to be found as this one is easily put away.
overall it was ok, i was expecting much more citrus and hops but the balance was still quite nice.
