No bottling date and poured into a snifter.

A: Hazy golden with strong orange hue. Two fingers of head, slowly dissipates to a thin layer of foam. Good amount of lacing.

S: Some tropical fruits, lemon, pineapple, and malty aroma. Can't quite detect any hops.

T: Soft hops with malty flavor, somewhat creamy and smooth, strong floral notes, making it very drinkable. A very mellow taste.

M: Medium bodied to full bodied, good carbonation, and hides the booze very well.

O: A good DIPA with strong floral notes and malty flavor. If I'm not looking to get a "hop-blast" or "piney" DIPA, I'll grab another bottle of this.

Bomber purchased in March in Colorado. Pours a nice golden color with no head. Very easy to drink, but I felt it was lacking in the hops. Definitely didn't feel like a 9% ABV. I found it similar to Odell IPA. Good beer, just not something I would seek out again. Worth a try!

Thanks to Blakelive784 for trading me this bottle...& for those of you not trading with anyone new, I'd hold up Mr. Blake as one of a couple guys who've embarrassed this veteran trader the last few months. 22 oz. bottle split with my wife.

Barely a hiss upon opening; looks about as carbonated as a glass of pulped mango juice. Smell is sehr tropical, sweet orange.

Dry Dock IIPA falls in that category of a 'balanced' IIPA, which isn't my favorite silo. Hops mirror the nose: gently floral, orange, with a dollop of wet earthiness. Pale, sweet malts swell underneath & quickly take over. Very, very sweet with low carbonation leads to a heavy, stomach-flooding drinking experience. One half-bomber & done for this boy.

Sub-mediocre IIPA that is void of punch, bitterness, or much of a hop experience at all. If you like a IIPA that's mostly a malt bomb, you should enjoy this one. Not my speed.

A - Pours murky amber with a brown shade to it. There's a one finger eggshell head.

S - Tropical fruits, not much else to me.

T - Slightly sweet with a hit of pineapple.

M - Light to medium body with medium carbonation.

O - Not a lot of hoppiness to it. The score had me thinking it should be better. To make. To be fair, I'm not sure how long it's been sitting. I did pick it up on vacation and don't see a bottle date.

1pt 6oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A - Hazy light golden with an orange hue. Medium sized white head. Tight bubbles leave a generous portion of lacing.

S - Citrus, lemon, lime, pineapple, mild grass. Husky grain malt. Hinting some alcohol.

T - Hops come across more earthy or grass-like than citrus. Still some lemon flavor. Malt is throughout the whole flavor with a not-so-subtle nuttiness to it. Big on flavor yet modest on bitterness.

M - Medium to medium-full body, short of medium carbonation, semi-dry.

O - Didn't expect this beer so cloudy as I was careful to not wrestle yeast on the pour. Good aroma and flavor albeit not so traditional. That Golden Promise lends a solid backbone. Hops were light and lent too little of bitterness. I also thought it could have had a drier feel to it.

On tap at Falling Rock. Nice light orange and gold color, good 1" of head on it which didn't offer much in terms of retention, but did have above average lace impressions on the side of the glass I wasn't drinking out of.

Aroma was hoppy, not decadently hopped, but not short changing anyone either. Good muddled citrus notes, couldn't tell you what was really hitting me, just a swirling of hops in the citrus vein.

Taste, pretty easy drinking, hop flavors beyond mere bitterness. Alcohol is there, but not a problem drinking it. Would say the citrus flavors are starting to lean tropical at this point. Malt mouthfeel gives an old toffee impression that was a distraction from the hops. Orange, mango and toffeee are a little weird, I would think caramel instead, but oh well.

Pretty good stuff, solid second tier dipa.

22oz Bomber into Tulip
No obvious date

A – Nice and hazy, bright orange with a fluffy thin head that leaves nice lacing. The lack of clarity on this is actually kind of nice.

S – Nothing over the top here, nice citrus notes and a little bit of a pine background. All on top of a lightly sweet malt base.

T – Somewhat sweet, citrus comes through first, with some orange and lemon notes. Then leads to a piney undertone and finishes with a nice moderately sweet malt foundation.

M – Well balanced for a DIPA, smooth and somewhat creamy. Very enjoyable. Nice crispness to round it all out.

O – Very solid, not over the top on hops or malt. Has nice orange and citrus notes, but nothing too deep or complex. Worth trying.

On-tap, 22 oz. pour

A: Opaque, copper body. Thin soapy head with excellent lacing.

S: Hops with some lemon/orange. Malt pokes in a little. Not a huge presence of alcohol.

T: Nicely balanced. Hop bite up front that's loaded with citrus. Reminds me a little of DC Brau's OTWOA, which is a good thing. Not sure if the hop profile is similar to Falconer's Flight, or what. On the back end, there's great malt flavors. Like just taking a bite of fresh bread.

M: Creamy, medium-bodied. For a 9% beer, it's very easy to drink.

O: Definitely will seek this one out again.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a tulip glass. No discernable date stamp.

A: A finger of creamy, tantalizing head. The beer is barely translucent, honey-gold, with noticeable effervesce. Good lacing.

S: Hops are soft (older bottle perhaps?) with a gentle malt base and hint of alcohol. Hint of pine.

T/M: Surprisingly creamy and sweet, shot through with citrus (lemon), and ends with a dry, bitter, undeniably hoppy finish. Fairly balanced DIPA, rather West Coast influenced, with only a hint of tropical fruit.

O: Solid, enjoyable, and recommended. Nothing to go out of your way for, but try one if you see it.

Four-finger, white, soapy/foamy head. Brew is wonderfully clear and is very yellow with lots of whites and some oranges. Heavy viscosity. Fantastic lacing. Yum.

Very candy-esque. Lots of heavy apricot-y floral notes. Gooey and sticky.

Very smooth, light and overly drinkable for being 9%... Light (er) carboantion brings out wonderful fruity flavors. Citrus is very west coast without being like a flower in your mouth. Bitterness is more sweet then bitter, I like this. Slightly over sweet in a near sugar bomb kind of way.

Whoa. Not what I was thinking at all... Thanks Chris for the awesome recommendation! Highly recommended! Dry Dock may just be going places...

a: clear copper body with a inch of thick tight creamy bubbles.

s: very tropical with mango, orange, a little lemon and bubblegum.

t: alot of malt to keep the hopbomb in check. very well balanced between the two wit the added pine resin on the back end to keep it from being overly sweet.

m: full rich body with great carbonation. dry bitter finish is enjoyable because it's well balanced between the sweetness and the resin. very enjoyable.

I picked this up back in December when we were at the brewery. 22 oz bottle was poured into a large snifter.

Appearance: it poured a huge one finger head that has reduced to a small layer. It a golden orange yellow with great clarity and vision of carbonation coming up through the glass.

Smell: major hop and malt bomb. Caramel and bready malts followed by citrus, grapefruit, tropical notes, and some pine.

Taste: hop bomb and malt overload all over again. Some lingering bitterness that mellows out. Pineapple and grapefruit stand out most in the hops. All balanced by the caramel and bready malts.

Mouthfeel: smooth, medium carbonation, full bodied, easy to drink, and very delicious.

Overall: pretty sold DIPA. Happy to have brought this back to Boston from Aurora. Next in Denver I will make another special trip to Aurora.

Picked up a bomber from Ski Haus Liquors in Steamboat Springs today for $8.99.

Beer poured golden orange with a decent white head upon the initial pour.

Nose is quite pungent with tropical and citrus hops.

Taste is pretty well balanced. Big malt backbone compliments the citrus, tropical, and floral hop profile.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly smooth body.

Overall this is a solid beer, definitely rates up there with the Cali 2IPA's. Would love to try some of their other brews. Give it a shot if you have the opportunity to try it!

Appearance: Pours a very pale and clear lemon peel color. Small bubbles sustain a small half-inch cap.

Smell: Pretty nice stone fruit aroma, primarily apricot. There's a touch of pine, and a pleasantly subdued malty sweetness with a bit of breadiness. Curiously, I get a hint of bubblegum.

Taste & mouthfeel: Pine and stone fruit, with some floral and citrus notes behind. There's a good bit of pale malt sweetness that works nicely with the hop profile, though it becomes a bit wearisome after a while; I'd like this to be a little more dry. Thankfully, it doesn't taste loaded full of crystal malts. Bitterness is moderate, and while not particularly intense it does bring a slight astringency.

Overall: A nice DIPA. It hides the booze well and has pleasant hop flavors. It isn't overly exciting, but it's well made and I'd drink it again.

Smells like a tropical island. Big mango, pineapple, and guava. Maybe a hint of starfruit too. It has a biscuity quality too which gives it some nice roundness.

Pours out a nice medium hazy straw color with lemon-yellow highlights. White head falls quickly back into the beer but leaves moderately spotty lacing.

Oh yes, all of those wonderful tropical flavors come through in the taste tenfold! This beer is a pure joy to drink. There is zero taste of alcohol. Starts off with the sweet fruits and finishes with a lingering light bitterness.

Somewhat dry but silky smooth. Carbonation on the light side of medium to accompany a medium body. Incredibly drinkable for it's stats. This is quite possibly one of the best IPA's I've ever had.

Pours a orangey yellow with a foamy off white head. A nice sweet and fruity aroma; a nice malt underbelly paired with some sweet orange and mango juices, and some pine. Flavor follows suit. A nice creamy medium body with a healthy amount of activity. Overall, a great DIIPA.

Price - $73.70/case (assorted beers)

Pours a hazey orange color with a two inch creamy head. Long lasting foam on this one and descent lacing as well.

The aroma is mainly tropical fruit with mango, pear and pineapple leading the hop charge while a caramel/bread combination fills in for the malts. Not as strong in the nose as most other IIPA's.

Flavor is once again very tropical and fairly sweet overall. A slight hint of pine on the taste buds comes in on the finish but very little bitterness for a claimed 90 IBU's. Alcohol is well hidden almost unnoticeable for 9%, well done.

The body is medium with a smooth creamy mouthfeel which is a surprise for the style. Carbonation is low as expected but very little dryness is present and not what I would expect given the hop profile.

Overall a really smooth beer to enjoy for the style and horsepower. Not what I expected with this one, however I'm looking forward to sampling the other examples in my case from Dry Dock.

On tap at falling rock denver. Pours a crisp golden with slight haze no big head. Smells of mango...big mango, probably the most mango I ever tasted in a brew. Taste is of very fruity hops with some real crisp malts; maybe a bit over malted??
Its a great brew, not the best, but very good.

T: Tropical fruit flavors with a very slight bite of booze and caramel, then the hops take over nicely. Big malt and hop flavors with neither being too in your face, hops last nicely.

M: Medium bodied, great carbonation, smooth and well-balanced, dry finish. Alcohol is hidden well.

O: A very good brew, easy to drink. Sweeter and not as punchy as most American double IPAs but definitely worth trying.

A little hiatus on reviewing but glad to be back. 22 oz into pint glass.

Pours slightly hazy, golden in color. White head with little retention. Lots of aroma in the nose. Piney, citrus with some floral hops at the end. Taste is bitterness up front with pine hop flavor. Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a Half Acre tulip.

A- pours a nice dark golden with a 2 finger white head.

S- my first reaction was "some type of melons?". Caramel and some pine as well.

T- wow! Sweet caramel and candied melon (watermelon, honey dew, cantaloupe take your pick). Stays very sweet throughout and has a lighter pine bitterness at the finish.

M- medium body and carbonation. Slightly pily and creamy with a smooth finish.

O- very good dipa! Reminiscent of knuckle sandwich which I also really liked!

Poured from bomber into dimple glass mug. Pours a cloudy dark orange color with thick, sustaining off-white head. Aroma has resiny fruit tones of tangerine, orange, floral, biscuit, with a rich, sweet sap-like aspect. Sweet and hoppy flavor profile with less nectary, with a soily feel, and a fruity, leafy hop profile. Full bodied, thick, slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Overall, an excellent DIPA from the 2010 Small Brewery of the Year!

a great double ipa, especially at 6 bucks per pint, yes i said pint. has a very light and unassuming golden color almost perfectly clear. one inch white head doesnt last forever. smells also quite light, fruity citrusy hop profile, and a pleasantly complementary gently spicy yeast. flavor is big compared to the appearance and the nose. hops are bitter yet fruity in the beginning. it relaxes to a well balanced and drinkable west coasty ipa, before reassuming its bitter face and lasting on the tongue for ages. resiny but not sticky or sweet, just fresh. carbonation is great, very bubbly but not like a soda. lighter than medium body makes it dangerously drinkable. overall a really good double ipa as a more than fair price. lots of hype with this one, and im not sure its that that good, but i will drink thus again for certain.

A: Pretty thick and hazy yellow orange pour with a big white head. The retention and lacing are top notch as the head bubbles down happily atop the beer. 4.5

S: Really bitter aroma, probably in the top few most bitter aromas I've come across. Citrus and grapefruit back up the bitterness. No malt notes at all. 4

T: The taste is really nice. Much more sweet than I expected, with the bitterness lending a nice balance. Really nice fruit character, basically like eating a sweet orange (with some other citrus like flavors playing along). The pine and perhaps a bit of booze give this beer some character, I'm really digging it. 4.5

MF: Carbonated perfectly with a medium body. The booze is only slightly noted as is a dry finish. The hops linger on the palate nicely for ages. Very drinkable. 4.5

O: Really nice surprise. I'd say this has been one of my favorite Imperial IPAs. Really nice play between bitter and fruity. 4.5

Awesome extra from SalukiAlum.

A - Pretty normal appearance for a decent IIPA, good lacing and a nice light copper/gold color.

S - Tropical. The aroma has tons of fruit - apricot, sweet orange, grapefruit, passionfruit, and more. Maybe a little tiny bit of alcohol in the nose. I could convince myself that there's a little caramel malt backbone in the nose.

T - Follows the nose. Tons of sweet, tropical fruit. Definitely on the sweeter side for an IIPA, which is totally fine by me. This is one damn fruity IIPA. If you like Sculpin on draft, try this one out - the fruit is a little bit familiar even though it's totally a sweet, maltier IIPA than Sculpin.

M - Nice, creamy mouthfeel on this one. Carbonation is good for showing off the hop flavors.

This was a nice, pleasant surprise. When I popped the cap off I was really surprised. I prefer drier, piney/grassy IPAs most of the time, but the tropical ones can be really good when executed well, which this one is. Recommended.
