On tap at the brewery served to pint glass the beer arrives a perfectly clear honey yellow with a nice 1.5 finger white head, good retention and lacing. The nose is tropical fruity but blended well with a toasty caramel light malt character. The flavor is the same with a detectable Citra hop essence. Very good. Medium bodied and well carbonated. Not a hop bomb and very refreshing and approachable. Nice treat.

On tap at Dry Dock. Later on cask at Hops & Pie. Quite hoppy. Nice tropical and citrus components. Refreshing and bitter. Quite nice.

On tap at the brewpub. Lacey, highly carbonated. A light bitterness. An OK beer, but mediocre for the style. Medium golden coloured body.Malts were felt. I don't think there is an objective here, and maybe needs a change in what hops are used.Go for their hoppier beer.

Served cold in a pint glass at the brewery.
Breakwater has a slightly hazy copper-orange color. The half inch of head settles quickly leaving just a little bit of lace behind.
Aroma is mild but pleasantly hoppy. Great tropical fruits like banana, mango, and mellon. Some faint citrus as well.
Flavor is very well-balanced. It's not of these nearly-IPA pale ales but more traditional. Malts almost seem like those of an amber or marzen style. Hops are fruity and tropical, well-judged for an APA.
Mouthfeel is medium-light in body with lowish carbonation. It starts slightly sweet but finishes crisp, bitter, and slightly dry.
Overall a really nice version of the style. One I could see getting a growler of because it goes down so easy.
