look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3
Appearance: One inch head, orange-brown in color, clear, high carbonation
Smell: citrus hops, honey, husk, and toasted malt
Taste: citrus hops, grapefruit, honey, husk, and toasted malt
Mouthfeel: sweet start with a bitter middle and a stronger bitter end, light bodied, high carbonation
Overall: An average IPA. I will say it is fairly juicy, but the flavors do not mesh as well as some other IPAs I have had. I would not turn this down, but I would not rush out for it either.

Review from notes.
A: Pours an amber/copper color with a one finger white head that fades quickly and leaves behind very little lacing.
S: Not overly hoppy, a little bit of pine and light citrus, with a little bit of grass and caramel.
T: Similar to the aroma, a little light in terms of hop presence. Some light pine and grass, heavier caramel and bready malt on the finish.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty smooth and easy drinking.
O: Not bad, but probably not something I would seek out again.

A: Pours a lightly golden colour with a tall billowing foam head. Quite good lacing and an OK retention as the foam head recedes to a thin blanket.
S: Herbal and floral hops, grains, bready malts as it warms, faint spices including cloves and coriander, and honey. Generally pretty subdued aromas.
T: Grainy taste upfront with the hop presence, with a very faint bread-like malt backbone. Picking up some faint spices of clove and coriander. Not a whole lot else going on in this.
M: Viscosity about right for an IPA with an above-average carbonated feel going on. I think the carbonation is giving this a spritzer-like feel, and affecting the taste as a result. Somethings off.
O: A decent IPA but not one I would likely pick up again. Fairly sessionable but a bit too grainy tasting for my liking, with a bit of an odd mouthfeel.

India'n Pale Ale boasts a rich, malty nose, redolent with brown sugars, apricots, oranges, vanilla, and freshly-baked bread. Notably absent from the nose is a strong hop aroma. There is a good hint of rosewater around the edges, and a slight tinge of grapefruit, but not at the potency I would expect from an IPA.
On the tongue, the beer quite makes up for the hops, which do come across with a nice, strong grapefruit bitterness. However, it is still the malts which dominate, though here the brown sugars and sugary fruit esters are undercut by a huge chocolate malt and pecan base. The aftertaste is largely chocolate malts and pecans, with washes of bitter hops countering. Mouthfeel is medium-light, and carbonation is medium.
Overall, this is a good beer, though I expect many will be surprised at how much nut flavor is present, and lament the fact that the hops aren't stronger. Perhaps the problem is the label: this doesn't taste like many IPAs, and so expectation doesn't meet taste. Still, the brew is well-made and flavorful, and worth trying.

12 oz bottle, Best if served by: 4 30 11, clearly stamped on the back.
Pours a pale golden orange with a nice 1.5 finger bone white head that stays around for a bit and laces quite well.
Hints of citrus and earthly grassy notes. Nice biscuit like fresh malt presence.
Great balance in the taste. Hops are earthy and herbal with a hint of mint and citrus. Malts are crisp and bready with an amazingly smooth finish.
Medium bodied IPA with a crisp refreshing carbonation. Not to dry in the finish which makes this one easy drinking.
Very good drinkability, i could easily down a sixer in a night. I applaud Paper City Brewery for their passion and love for good beer and a diversity of styles.

Pours a mild amber-gold color with a nice head that leaves some good lacing on the glass.
Aroma is somehow more among the lines of a belgian ipa with a distinct aroma of candi sugar/yeast. It's certainly not one but just thought I'd note that.
Ditto on the taste. For sure, the British East Kent Golding and American Yakima Golding hops dominate the mouthfeel with a slight bit of citrus/mint.
Lots of grassy hop bitterness for the hop lover. That hint 'o mint is still here as well. Nice finish that is marred slightly by the high carbonation.
It's certainly an interesting take on the style. I can't help but wonder if they put the wrong beer in this bottle because it could easily pass as a belgian-style IPA. I'm not sure whether to add or subtract points for this?

A- Pours a hazy golden orange color with a nice off white head. Head doesn't have great retention, forms a layer of bubbles on the top and leaves some spotty lacing.
S- Seems to be a bit muddled here. Herbal and floral hops seem to dominant this one. A bit of a bready smell as well, but fairly weak.
T- Again the taste is pretty muddled. Not quite sure what was going on here. Floral and herbal hops with a bit of a caramel malt and metallic taste.
M- Medium in body and carbonation seemed ok.
D- I'll go with ok. I've had much better for the style not something I'll probably go out after.

12 oz. bottle, best by 12/30/09; sampled 8/11/09. Brewed with East Kent and Yakima Goldings. The beer is a light amber color, with nice clarity save for a few floaties, and is capped with an inch of cream-colored head that leaves some nice lacing. Caramel and sweetish hops in the nose. The flavor consists of toasty and lightly sweet caramel malts, cut with fruity and floral hops that impart a medium bitterness. It has a medium body, with ample carbonation and a fairly dry, bitter finish. I really enjoyed this brew - very balanced and very English in character. Well worth a try.

Pours a clear orange color with a one finger head that has good retention and nice creaminess. This beer really leaves no lacing behind as I consume it. Smell is pretty hard to pick up but I get only light malts and piney bitterness. Taste is much of the same but a bit stronger and balanced. Piney bitterness, lots of light malts and some citrus. The taste just has no strong point, neither the malts or hops are that spectacular. Mouthfeel is good. Nice light-moderate body with good carbonation and a coat of bitterness. No warming or alcohol to speak of. Drinkability is also good. While this beer does not taste great, its not bad and it is very light on the stomach. Could session this one as much as any other IPA that I can think of. The price is not bad so I wouldn't feel bad doing that.

Gonna be a BIG ipa weekend for me! So I am hoping to work my way back up to full strength and what better way then to try and knock back like 10 differnet IPA's in a weekend. This one was served cold and poured into a pint glass, consumed on 08/22/2009.
Very nice pour here, light amber in color with good clarity. Smooth white head on top to about two inches and settled down slowly on the way. Nice side lacing throughout. Light aroma, not as strong as I would have liked, but well balanced. Light citric hops, and a touch of light bready malts. Very light on the palate without much in the way of a pungent note to it. Light grapefruit touches the lips before it gets washed with light bready malts and fades off without much at all in the way of an aftertaste. Easy to drink with a light body and nice carbonation. Smooth, crisp and sessionable but lacking some depth on the palate.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, vaguely orange-y body with a bubbly, white head.
Smell: Sweetish toffee and minor citrus scents with some spice and a distant, though distinct note of tea leaves.
Taste: Toffeeish and biscuity maltiness with a faint, brief sweetness. Stir up some light citrus, tea leaves, and a noticeable spiciness, add a quite cleansing bitterness and let's call it a day. Finishes dry with a lingering tea-like flavor.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: An acceptable IPA, but nowhere near being an exceptional IPA.

From a brown 12oz bottle - Pours a ugly fairly cloudy pale with a slight head and very low carbonation. Smells of mild hops with just a tad of a malt presence. First sip is sweet not very hoppy. Finishes slightly bitter There is nothing here to write home about.. Decent mouthfeel but under carbonated. A very poor showing for an IPA!

This is a slightly better than average IPA, nothing special. The beer pours a clear amber color with a thinnish head that doesn't retain much, no lacing. The aroma is a bit butterscotch, some mild hop esters, some florals, some piney notes. The aroma is pretty good, but subdued.
The taste is primarily slightly bitter hop leaf, herbal hops, with a touch of a citric grapefruitiness. The hops are not all that well balanced in that the malty backbone is quite thin, the hops are bitter without being creamy and estery, and the consistency of the beer is a bit too watery. Moderate carbonation, some interesting butterscotch and sweet malts lurking in the background, and an overall lightish beer. You can drink a few of these, if desired. The beer is not overly complex, but it is an easy drinker.

It pours a clear light-copper color with a small head but some sticky lacing.
The smell is of butterscotch and some bitter hops.
Taste is of bitter hops, not sweet or citrusy.
Overall, a good pale ale. The powerful and bitter hops give it a slight different taste than other IPAs.
