This location continues to impress me as I stopped in and visit with the Assistant Wine and Spirits Manager on a busy 2006 St. Pats day.
Bill is a former brewer and knows both beer and wine. The beer is well cared for and priced competatively. His assistants live up to the helpful smile in every aisle service they advertise.
250 - 300 offerings make this the place to go at Lake of the Ozarks. Bell's Two Hearted ale $8.65 SN Bigfoot $9.99 Sam Smith Oatmeal $3 and you can assemble a sixer of singles @ $9. Bill offered to let me break up a couple of sixpacks to add to the singles.
While not the fine Belgium selection of Lucas Liquors or the outstanding offerings of Corral Liquors of Granite City - the huge coolers and cold rooms allow all of the beer to be kept cold from wholesaler's delivery to point of sale.
A large store-within-a-store featuring one of the areas largest selections of beers, wine and spirits; new 80,000-square-foot Hy-Vee store in Osage Beach offers some great values. The liquor department has a 9000-square-foot area with a large enough walkin cooler to keep all the beers chilled from the point of delivery to sale. The new store represents a $13 million investment in the Lake of the Ozarks area. This is considered the prototype for new Hy- Vee construction providing customers with full-service, one-stop-shopping and Good beer turn over due to high trafic area and emphasis on freshness.

So the Hy-Vee or the Wal-Mart?
Which do you think is the better place to get beer in the middle of nowhere? Well, hit both places. And hit up Paul's supermarket as well.
Paul's has a nice selection of mix-n-match singles, Hy-Vee has the best prices, but shockingly I found the best selection at Wal-Mart.
To be fair, I was mainly looking for a craft beer in cans... No where else had anything, but Walmart had 12 packs of Schlafly Summer Lager.
The actual liquor store in town is pretty dismal, although they fo carry 3 or 4 from the Smokestack series.
So anyway-- Hy-vee has lots of macros, a fair amount of craft, and almost all of it is refrigerated.

For a small liquor store that is actually part of a grocery store this probably one of my favorite places to buy beer in Missouri. I never leave empty handed.
Quality: They have some great names in beers.
Selection: I am a big fan of the $1.50 mix a six area. Although it is a small area it never ceases to amaze me. There is a constant rotation going on in this little mix area. It feature a great selection of New Belgium, Avery, Shafly, Boulevard, lots of seasonals from craft brewers and a good selection of imports. The 6/12 pack/case area is good too. A lot of the same beers can be found cold as well. A lot of Belgians and a favorite faux Belgian Unibroue. They carry most of the Midwest favorites.
Service: All the clerks are very friendly but I have never needed much help.
The best prices I have seen here in Missouri.
