When opening the bottle, a slowly growing head comes out. The colour is black; the enormous and airy head is pale brown.
The smell is sweet-bitter. Notes of coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice.
The first taste is sweet and fruity with hints of matured apples and apricots. Then dryer notes emerge. Roasted malt with a mild earthy salty flavour. The aftertaste is roasted with notes of dark chocolate, black coffee, dough and almonds (both bitter and sweet). Some alcohol and bitterness in the finish.
The carbonation is very strong. Lots of medium sized bubbles. The liquid is somewhat smooth.
An OK porter/stout. I remember it being way better on tap.
