Found this place while arriving in Madison for the 2009 Great Taste of the Midwest which was awesome. I had no idea it was such a great event, I plan on going back as long as I can find tickets.

Kind of tucked away in a little neighborhood west of downtown.

Not a huge area but extremley packed with a huge selection of local Wisconsin and local midwestern brews. Lots to choose from.

Also, could've been the coldest walk-in cooler I've ever been in. Walked out with some great buys. Would go back for sure.

first beer store on this particular visit to Madison, rolled in with dirtylou on a Wednesday afternoon, won't elaborate too much as his review is pretty much spot-on

fighting off convulsive shivers in the frigid walk-in cooler, it's clear that Jenny Street would be a regular stop if it were local to me, mostly six-packs with a rack stacked with bombers, there's an expansive selection of locals with great regional representation as well - New Glarus, Ale Asylum, Central Waters, Furthermore, and so on, also some obscure Grand Tetons in large swing-tops stuck out, I picked up a FFF Apocalypse Cow, a Central Waters Bourbon Barleywine, and Furthermore Knot Stock

service looks to be typical of grocery stores...basically nonexistent but not really expected

I came here looking to see what it was about. And like other's said, you've got to freeze your ass off to find some things. But I found a few beers that I couldn't find elsewhere. Most of the beer, at least in the cooler, is craft, and pretty good stuff - the beers I was looking for, with a few outside. I didn't get much service, cash only, but there were a few people around to answer questions if I had them. The selection was decent, a lot of rare and interesting stuff. I was pretty exited. And the prices were right about on par for everything. Not many singles but a few if you're looking for it. This is a good place to go if you're around as far as I can tell. I mean, none of the other places I went to had Grand Teton, and I was exited - I can mark another state off of the list, and the beer seems to be pretty good. Give this place a look over if you're in the neighborhood, probably the best near downtown.

I go Jenny Street Market a lot these days as its enroute to my layfriend's abode

this is an odd little place - bizarre exterior and cash only (though their ATM has a 1$ fee which is refunded to you if you purchase something)

the beer selection is primarily contained in a moderately sized, but packed to the roof with beer, ice-cold cooler. Some beer has spilled out of the cooler into the store - breakfast stout and other sale beers primarily.

the middle of the cooler is pretty much a tower of new glarus, central waters, and other wisconsin new releases. They are sure to have everything that is released from the heavy hitters in the state (new glarus, central waters, ale aslyum, etc). They had more Peruvian Morning and CW Bourbon Barleywine than any other store around. So, if you need the latest Wisco releases, this place will accomplish everything.

theres a pretty nice display of bombers as well that boasts every release distributed form 3F (dreadnaught, gumballhead, rabbid rabbit, bohemoth blonde, etc). All of the southern tier bombers have moved through here (mokah, jahva, oak aged unearthly, etc). All of boulevard smoke stack series is here along with highlights from grand teton, smuttynose, sprecher, victory and many others.

You'll find all of the Founders 4 packs, bells sixers, dogfish head, dark horse, etc etc. Starting to get the picture?

There's a bunch of random stuff that isnt anywhere else too like Upland six packs and way more weyerbacher than anywhere else.

not a huge selection of belgans - there are better spots for those needs.

The prices are typically on lower end of the range in madison but there is no service to speak off - just cashiers.

Great freaking store - somewhat off the beaten path

This an interesting little market with a dam cold walk in cooler. All the other posters were not lying, the walk in cooler is exceptionally cold. The selection and quality of the beer is great. Pretty much every local craft beer is here and stocked despite only having a small corner of the store.

I couldn't comment on the service but there appeared to be a number of people walking about the store who would have been willing to help. A lot more people present than other liquor stores I have stopped in at.

The selection is great, but you will pay for it depending upon what you are looking for. I glanced at the New Glarus prices and saw over a dollar higher per six pack than at Woodman's and turned around and left, so I maybe should have given it a better shake. I do know the Furthermore prices were .50 less here than at Woodman's so if your looking for that, this is the place.

If you want the real extremely difficult local craft beers this should be a place to stop. They had Central Waters, Furthermore, Capital and others. Otherwise, local craft beers distributed well throughout the state can be found elsewhere (Woodman's) for cheaper.

This is a wonderful local market on the east side of Madison. It is located on a very quaint road with very little traffic. Everyone who works there is extremely kind and very helpful. However, there are no workers hanging out in the aisle, so if you need help finding something, you better track someone down yourself. One could not wish for a better place to get food and beer.

Speaking of beer, their selection is astounding! The triangular room where they keep the beer is not very large and it is intensely cold, as the other reviews can attest. However, I would bear the cold with a smile, thinking of all the possibilities in my life. What if I lived right down the street and could walk here after work every day? I might be in heaven. I was amazed that so many beers could fit into such a small room. They do have bombers and other single bottles, just not single 12 oz. Not only do they have beer geek treats, they also give space to the standard economy beers as well. AND space goes to the flavored malt beverages and hard cider/tea/lemonade. So you can imagine how dense everything is in this room and how exciting it can be searching through the endless six-packs of great beer.

While some of the six-packs seemed a bit pricey, others were on the cheap side. This place is worth checking out if you are on the east side. It is also worth moving close to if you would like to live in a safe, friendly, quiet neighborhood with your family and would like a kick ass place for beer right around the corner.

I stopped in and told my wife "I read this is one of the coldest coolers in the world" and we both laughed.

We walked in and HOLY CRAP!!! She could only stand it for a few minutes.

I was in heaven looking at craft beers I have never seen or only wished I could find. In fact I was a little thrown off because I was not expecting to see SO many beers I had not seen before - AND - IT WAS SO FREAKING COLD!!!

I'm not complaining at all though.

No credit cards accepted but there is an ATM. Good prices, awesome selection - to bad no singles

Edit 2009: Among the best selections in the city, several rare items not found elsewhere. Service was great, they got us 2 boxes for all the singles & 750s we were buying.

Nice walk-in cooler setup, easy to find, located just past the registers. A few cases were stacked just outside the cooler door too, Smuttynose Summer Weizen.

Pretty extensive selection here, of both local micros and imports. More full lines from Central Waters, New Glarus, Lake Louie, including a few limited offerings. This was the only place in town I saw Sand Creek Oleator for example. Imports were loosely organized by country of origin. Micro bombers had their own area near the door too.

Checkout was friendly, cash only was odd, but the free ATM with ticket voucher was only a minor delay. Affordable produce, cheese curds and Carr Valley cheese here too.

Coldest beer cooler ever, bar none. When you walk back into the cooler, you'll pass a few community sweatshirts. Just put one on, because when you get into the cooler, you'll want to explore, and it's $%&&^^$#$#@ freezing in there.

Six packs galore, mostly local. New Glarus, Lake Louie, Capital City, Bell's, Three Floyds, Great Lakes, Left Hand, Lagunitas, Dogfish Head, Leinenkugel, Victory, Big Sky, Founders Breakfast Stout, and much, much more. Loads of Belgians (Chimay, Rochefort, Westmalle) and Belgian-style (Ommegang, Unibroue).

Selection is terrific, and one of the best grocery store selections I've ever seen. Hell, it's better than a lot of dedicated beer store selections.

They do not take credit cards, though. They have an ATM in the store, so if you need cash, you get it from there. Any ATM withdrawal comes with a $1.00 coupon for the store, so the finance charge cancels out.

Well, this was definitely the highlight of my beer shopping in Madison. Big walk in cooler in the corner of the store included tons and tons of craft brews. Most things available to the area were there, with far more selection than I saw in any of the other liquor stores that I stopped at. Central Waters everything and lots of it. Tons of Lake Louie, Tyranena, Capital, Bell's, Great Lakes, Lagunitas, etc, etc. Pretty much everything that I was looking for on my whole trip could be found here. I would have saved a lot of time by just going here first and buying everything. Many things were a little cheaper than elsewhere (CW BBS $1 cheaper per 6 pack). Service was fine, but I was there at about 11:30 on a weekday. I would imagine when busier it is more of a pain. Definitely a must stop if shopping for local beers in the Madison area.
