I probably would never have given this place a second glance if I hadn't been well-informed about it's quality beer selection. An innocent little food mart in the Portland suburbs, but hidden away inside is a great little cold room with lots of good choices. It was our first stop in questing for beers to take home to the East Coast, and as such, I took several Pelican and Hair of the Dog items off the shelves. I didn't get to meet Justin the "beer guy," but the clerk was a charming lady with a lot of good things to say about him, and surprisingly about beer in general as well. Perhaps not quite as huge a selection as Belmont or Beermongers, but they sure cram a lot into a tiny space, and most of it is good quality. Not to mention a 10% discount when you buy 8 or more bottles...which I did. Price tags are about on par from what I saw in the area, and aforementioned discount made things even better.

In a quest to patronize all of Portland's beer stores this one was next on my list. Upon entering the market one would never think it holds such a little treasure trove of beer goodies.
All of their beer selection is tucked away in a corner of the store in a walk-in cooler. The quarters are a bit tight and you need to be constantly mindful while inside so as not to tip anything over. The selection of brews was quite impressive, including such breweries as Victory, Bruery, Cascade, and many others.
I can't comment on their service as I didn't require any but the store clerks seemed available and ready to help.
Overall this is a great little market to check out if you're in the area or if you don't want to make the drive to a bigger bottle shop such as Belmont Station. My only grievance with this place is the fact that all the beer is in the walk-in cooler and it is CHILLY in there. I was wearing a blazer and could barely last 15 minutes in there.

On a mission to check out all the bottleshops in PDX, I made a sojourn to this highly recommended spot and wasn't disappointed. The tiny walk-in cooler was a challenged for a big guy like me, there certainly wasn't room for two in the aisle. That being said, with the exception of a few out-of-stocks, probably due to venturing in before delivery and stocking of shelfs, the selection was certainly one of the best in town, and with the 10% discount off 8 or more bottles, well worth a visit.
While I didn't run into staff in the cooler (there certainly wasn't room) I found all the help very nice. Overall, a good shopping experience.

I'm relatively new to Portland, OR. So one of things to do is of course....travel to beer stores.
I really liked Beaumont Market. It is primarily a grocery store, but tucked away in a corner is a cozy walk in cooler full of great beers at a very competitive price.
The cooler is rather small; i was toting a backpack and I felt that I would knock beers off the shelves, so I had remove my backpack and carry it by hand. I was all by myself in there, which is good thing given the size of the cooler.
I really did not need any help at the store, nor did i see anyone who would offer help. That said, i have read that the beer manager is rather nice and offers great help for those who need it
The selection of beers is pretty good. Since they do not have as much traffic as Belmont Station they did have some brews that were out of stock at the larger beer stores. I felt as if all the beers were about 50 cents less than it's competitors. Then if you look around you'll find a bin of beers that are on sale (20% discount) I scored some good items from this bin.
Beaumont Market deserves some respect and I recommend going.

I don't know how this place escaped my attention for so long, but last fall I moved into the neighborhood and was very pleased to discover this small, independent grocer with a respectable selection of fine beers. I'm guessing that BM offers about 200 varieties of beer (maybe more) in the walk-in cooler at the far end of the store. Space is tight in the cooler and you're advised to watch your step lest you knock a bottle to the floor. Choices span the globe with a decent array of Belgians, American micro- heavyweights, and left-coast regionals. You may also find some very local offerings from the likes of Roots or Alameda.
I appreciate the almost European character of Beaumont Market. It's personable and has an accommodating selection of foodstuffs at fair prices. Check the posted updates on the cooler door for new offerings and expected arrivals. Buy eight beers and get a ten percent discount.

Passed through Portland one afternoon and chose to try this place out for a little beer shopping. If you're coming in fresh from the road, there is no bathroom.
Big market with an eclectic selection of household knick-knacks and gourmet food. Small walk-in fridge with a medium selection of high-quality beer. A few gems, but probably about 75 labels total. With no bathroom, it can be a challange to sort through them all! (It is a neighborhood market so I can't be too critical)
Quality is excellent because all beers are cold and away from light. I met an employee who was very helpful and knowledgable, a real treat since so many beer store employees are totally clueless. We talked for a while, and he showed me some beers I didn't even see, and recommended some other places in town.
A fun stop, about 10 minutes off I-5.

A small neighborhood grocery at the intersection of NE Fremont and 42nd. I had been in this place just a handful of times until a couple recent visits made me appreciate what a hidden gem this place is.
The store itself is small, just 4 or 5 aisles, harkening back to a day when the "mom & pop" grocery in every neighborhood was the only option. The beer section is neatly tucked away on the rear wall past the checkout stands. Inside the walk-in glass case (which is a nice place to visit on a hot summer day) is a modestly-sized but impressive selection of American craft beers and a good array of British, German, and Belgian brews, too. Some seasonal releases from the likes of Dogfish Head and Avery were ones I had yet to see anywhere else in Portland. The Belgian shelves are filled with reasonably priced choices: all the available Trappists, several saisons, dubbels, tripels, seasonals, even a Flemish sour or two. The German and British selections looked good as well. Some macros, but that's to be expected in a general grocery - they're probably using less than 20% of the shelf space.
Occasionally, there are beer tastings - such as a recent one by New Belgium Brewing or local Portland favorite Roots Organic. Also themed tastings, like "French Beers" or "Ciders".
Justin is the manager of the department; he's friendly & knows his stuff. Ask and you might even get a tip on when some new release will arrive. On a general level, service is a bit above average, but get to know Justin and the service/information level becomes downright exceptional.
Prices seemed comparable with the local specialty grocers (New Seasons, Wild Oats, Whole Foods). I suppose "$$ - reasonable" works for that category. A money-saving tip: if you're buying 8 or more single bottles, they'll discount 10% at the register.

This is the closest beer store to my house and I am lucky that it is. There is a great selection of imported beers including some nice english beers, a good selection of german stuff and a very nice selection of belgian beers. The selection of domestic micro/craft beer is very good as well. The selection isn't huge but with the space they have they certainly did a good job filling it with alot of really quality beers. The service is great, everyone there is very friendly and the value is certainly reasonable. If you are in the area beaumont market is definatley worth stopping in to check out.

My wife and I stopped in here on a whim after hitting up the Alameda Brewery (highly recommended!), and I was really pleasantly surprised.
They have a dedicated walk in cooler in the back with a "What's New" list on the door. Very cool!
The selection wasn't huge, but what was there was top notch. A nice selection of quality Belgians, good US micros, other various imports. The nice part was, it wasn't just the same stuff you can get at any good store.
The prices were very reasonable, and I picked up a bottle of Rochefort 8 at a decent price. It was on sale, apparently, but rung up as the regular price. Turned out the tag was expired, but they gave me the sale price anyway. Cool!
If you're around Alameda, check the place out. Fresh selection, nice people out front, and a decent little market attached to.
