Pours an opaque, dark brown with copper overtones and very slight ruby highlights here and there. Low carbonation on the pour yields nearly no head, just a small, off-white ring that clings to the circumference of the glass. Aroma is heavy hazelnut coffee; creamy, sweet, and sugary with more faint hints of cocoa and roasted malt. It tastes almost exactly like you'd expect from the nose - iced hazelnut coffee, loaded with sweet cream and sugar. Very dense and full of hazelnut flavor, as well as a lingering cocoa powder essence that gets stronger with time. As the beer warms up, the bittersweet coffee ground flavors start to come out, but nevertheless, it is the sweetness that dominates here. Heavy hazelnut and roasted malt aftertaste, very little (if any) hop profile to be found in this one. Medium body, maybe even a little on the thin side, and a bit thinner than anticipated. Could have used a bit more carbonation as well.

Overall, not disappointed like others said I would be. Then again, I love hazelnut coffee. And that's what they were out to achieve, right? It doesn't taste much like a beer, but it certainly has a distinguishable and fairly scrumptious taste, albeit maybe a bit too sweet to enjoy on a regular basis (aside from the fact that it's hard to get your hands on anyway). Can definitely say I was pleasantly surprised, and far from being let down. I'd have this again if it weren't for the high price tag and low availability.

750ml bottle into large snifter. Thanks jbck109!

A: Pours a deep nutty caramel brown with a thin, bubbly, light tan head that faded into a thick collar leaving wisps of soapy lace down the glass.
S: Rich and sweet notes of hazelnut and buttery nuts dominate followed by light hints of light roasted coffee and roasted malt.
T: More buttery greasy nutty taste, hazelnut, light roast, milk chocolate, and a hint of raisin and vanilla.
The finish is slightly bitter with lingering flavors of hazelnuts and caramel, and the aftertaste is full of coffee, brown sugar and vanilla.
M: Full bodied, slick, greasy and smooth mouthfeel, with low carbonation.
O: I love that the hazelnut overpowers the coffee. A great example of hazelnut in beer. Very delicious, thanks Jay!

Appearance: Pours an ice tea brown color with a rather modest head that fritters away rather quickly though it leaves a scattering of dots all around the glass

Smell: Hazelnut coffee, with undertones of toffee and vanilla

Taste : Hazelnut coffee with bitterness in the background from both the coffee and nutskin elements; in the middle, the vanilla and toffee sweetness builds but never becomes overwhelming; the finish is nicely balanced - not too sweet but filled with the flavor

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with low to moderate carbonation

Overall: The ratings have built for this beer over time as I recall when I first bought the bottle the ratings were terrible; not sure whether the beer has developed that much since it was bottled but I rather enjoyed the beer though it is not something I would likely seek out again
