We love a well-balanced brown ale. Especially a brown ale of the hazelnut coffee persuasion. Case in point: Frangelic Mountain Brown. Initially brewed and released in bottles in 2012, this deliciously sweet and nutty coffee brown ale quickly became a favorite amongst beer fans and inspired us to continue pushing the coffee and beer envelope. Turns out your new favorite coffee drink is a beer.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes.
Appearance - Clear reddish brown. Nice off white head that's well retained.
Smell - Ton of hazelnut and coffee. Nutty brown malts.
Taste - Lots of coffee and lots of hazelnut. Sweet to the point where not a lot of the beer comes out past the adjuncts. Slightly bitter and the nutty malts are faint.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied and medium carbonation. Decently bitter to counter the sweetness.
Overall - The adjuncts are good and good enough that I don't mind not being able to discern the qualities of the beer.

Copenhagen 19/12 2020. 35,5 cl bottle from Kvickly, Østergade, Middelfart. A very big and probable “frangelic” mountain on the label.
Pours unclear, brown with a red hue. Small off-white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is intense with a strong candy-like, sweet odor mingling with nutty notes. Brown sugar, Nutella. Hazelnut, toffee. Coffee with a load of sugar. Hides the alcohol pretty well.
Light carbonation. Quite thick, soft, smooth, lightly, tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a very moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a light bitter undertone. Finish is sweet and boozy. Like a nutty liqueur.
Quite a sweet bomb. If you like your croissant with chocolate and Nutella this one is for you.

Dark, brown color. Good looking, off-white head.Aroma of nuts and toasted malt . Rich malty taste, moderately sweet. No trace of alcohol. A nice sipper.

Pours mahogany brown with one finger foam for the top. Aroma is coffee and hazelnut. Taste is lighter than expected but consists of profiles for hazelnut, coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. This brew fits quite nicely in the brown ale category. The coffee profile is quite dominant but, IMHO, doesn't quite overpower everything else.

Pours dark brown with a slight head that quickly thins. Aroma is slight sweet coffee, no malt. (And no hazelnut-iness.)
Taste is predominantly the hazelnut/ frangelico. Marshmellow, then yesterday's coffee, some plum, some anise and Valentine's chocolate. Coffee underneath is bitter, dark unsweet chocolate, and bitterness. 36 IBU seems unnatural, and emphasized by that sh**ty coffee. Boozy without being hot.
Feels like it's a all a little too much (hey we did an adjunct!) and much less balanced than the Sumatra Mountain Brown, a much better coffee brown. Body is all right, man the frangelico just overpowers the rest of it.
