This beer is an amber brown color. Smells like a winter warmer—more on that later.

I pick up “chai spices” (which are also similar to “holiday spices”)—cloves and allspice, definitely, with some cinnamon. There’s a sweetness that runs through the flavor profile, along with a hearty dose of spiciness. To truly be a chai beer I’d imagine it would need some tea- and/or milk/lactic flavors? But the seasonings/spices are all present and it’s an enjoyable take on a brown ale.

Is this a “Christmas beer”? I definitely felt like it could be a year-round take on a seasonal spiced brew.

A - Pours a nice clear red-tinged brown with one finger of tan head. Head has good retention and leaves some decent lacing.

S - Noticeable chai aroma and some nutty malts.

T - A bit of sweetness, nutty malt, caramel malt and chai spices. Pretty nice.

M - Medium mouthfeel that is slightly syrupy. A bit dry on the finish.

O - The spices complement this pretty nicely. An enjoyable brown ale.

The appearance is great, enduring head and ladder lace complimented by the brown brew.

Chai tea and some corn smells are in the aroma. Not a whole lot else going on.

It almost tastes like a wheat brown with chai added. Definately on the sweet side and is mildly syrupy.

Low carbonation and medium in the mouth. Average feel.

This is an interesting attempt at something different. It is good but not great.

On tap at Founders last week. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a moderate brown color with a good off-white head. Good collar. The nose carries a good amount of chai plus some semi-sweet brown malt. Good integration. Flavor is a bit chai-forward without the brown underneath. Medium, chewy body. Good brew.
