First ever review on BA.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into wine glass. No bottling date. This one has several months on it.

A weak pour resulted in almost no head. Thin tan lacing that lingers. Near pitch black, a hint of translucent brown at the edges.

Dark chocolate on the nose first. Roasted malt bitterness. Maybe a hint of coffee. Smell approaches Breakfast Stout but with less coffee and oatmeal. Now that it warms, some dark fruit aromas breaking through.

Dark, rich, and sexy indeed. A great balance of flavors. Blend of chocolate and roasted barley throughout. Hops hit early and again at the end, but always secondary. Coffee towards the end. Lingering bitterness from the malt. Every time I drink this beer, I expect a sweeter finish. Then I remember it is a porter, not an imperial stout.

Creamy and smooth. For me, this is what separates Founders Porter from many others.

Overall, a delight. Never overpowering and does not try to do too much. Very drinkable.

355ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£2.60):
Opaque mahogany colour, almost black. Has a thin, medium brown head with red tinges about 0.5cm tall and holds great with some lacing too.

Light coffee with some roasted malts, hints of chocolate and a nice earthy aroma that is light but noticeable. The aroma is a rich some with some sweet caramel touches with some light bitterness.

Sweet malts with some roasted one on top and a good helping of chocolate. The beer is lighter than I was expecting and quite rich too with a tiny but of spice right at the end.

Medium, very smooth, some rich and sweet flavours. The balance of the beer is pretty much perfect and the beer is clean with a dry, sweet finish.

Brilliant beer that is not as dark or heavy as I was expecting but it managed to have a great balance between the sweet malts and the darker, roasted malts that follow. A very easy beer to drink and one that goes far too fast.

Dark, Rich, and Sexy, yes it is!

While I am still new to the characteristics of beer, I will try my best.

Nice dark color, and comes to a good head.

Tastes amazing, creamy and sweet with hints of coffee and cocoa

Texture is a little thin but the flavor makes up for any shortfalls in this beer.

This beer is amazing, and I have yet to find another Porter that is equal!
