Single 12oz bottle (no date) poured into a shaker pint glass.

Appearance: Pitch black beer - I'm not even seeing any light getting through the sides. Head dies down to a dark tan ring around the edge and a thin film across the top. Some lacing here and there - strands and sheets. The label says "Dark, Rich & Sexy". Definitely the darkest porter I've ever had.

Smell: When first poured and cold, it smells of raisins and rich sweet malt. As it warms up, the fruitiness goes away a bit and is replaced with a richness of mild chocolate and roasted malts. Nicely appealing.

Taste: Definitely a rich brew here. The best I can describe this beer is like sipping a scoop of rich bittersweet chocolate ice-cream that has been put into a stout. That stout bitterness end is there, but the chocolate shines through with a milk-like creaminess. As it warms up the bitterness at the end becomes more pronounced - a mix of coffee-like bitterness and some hints of citrus hops. Very tasty porter this one.

Mouthfeel: Creamy with some carbonation along for the ride. Pretty good.

Drinkability: Yep, I could have another one, and I can see this beer pairing with so many things. It did really well with Welsh Rabbit, and I think it would be fantastic with a steak or a burger, and with dessert as well. The alcohol is well hidden and I'm not noticing it at all by the end of the glass. A dark, rich, and sexy beer indeed.

This is an overall great beer! Got it in a trade with Rohkey. Thanks Chris! Poured this beer in my small Struise chalice. Pitchdark fluid with a very nive head. Good starter. The head disappears after a while leaving some nice lacing in the glass.

Smell is inviting but i can not detect much. Taste is with coffee. The alcohollevel is good on this one. Very good mouthfeel, not any carbonation but that is not important in a beer like this!

Pours black as night, but not thick as I thought it would be. Can't be a judge of the head because I poured it very gently.

Smells of coffee and smokey, earthy, hops. Hints of chocolate or mocha too.

Flavor profile follows the nose almost entirely. Super flavorful and potent despite what you'd expect from the lower ABV.

Tastes of toffee and chocolate remain on the palette remain following each sip, and this beer stays with you long after you're finished drinking it.

It's a solid porter, but it leaves me wanting a breakfast stout or a KBS.
